I realize this and prime 4 are at least a year away, what I’m more concerned about for now is prime 2 and 3 remastered being released soon. Really hope that’s realistic, and coming.
I would absolutely love those as well. But it took a few years to remaster prime 1. That team is hard at work on prime 4. I would guess if we do get two or three properly remastered it would be a few years away.

It's so hard to predict Nintendo. Like, even if leaks are initially true, Nintendo can still change their plan/schedule.
Seeing how PS5 and Xbox Series have been struggling with first party exclusives, this can be good for Nintendo as they can have a very strong first year for the new console like they did with the Switch

With this news, this year would possibly be one of the slowest years on gaming in a while. Oh well, I guess this year would be the backlog catch-up year. 2022 and 2023 had a lot of games that I missed out on. 😅 but my body is ready for switch 2. I just want to play Mario + rabbids with better performance on switch 2 back compat.

It's great to hear Nintendo is focusing on 2024 greatly because I've been saying they are going to try & pass PS2 sales before they move on.
Many were looking at the current line up as weak & thus saying the next system is coming because of no new mega hits. Yes we don't know anything new but they very well could have some secrets besides MP4 that they will show this year to move more sales unit.
So I'm sticking with what I got going & hope it turns out awesome. But whenever the new system does come we all know it will be awesome. 🤙

Nintendo probably isn’t concerned too much with PS2 record, BUT I’ve always said 2025. Even back in late 2022 I’ve said that. Sales are just too strong to have justified a 2022 or 2023 release. Even 2024 doesn’t seem likely honestly.
@@Telmarine55 Great outlook! The smart thing they did was joining both handheld & console teams on the system. Like they could easily leave the handheld teams to continue working on the OG Switch while the console teams move onto the next system to get this rolling. After the handheld teams moves onto the newer system.
This strategy would pay off smoothly so that no drought takes place. Can't wait to see what new surprises they bring this year.
I'm still hoping an demand was seen to go back and do an overhaul of Prime 2 and 3 rather than just an upscale and controller reconfig. My suspicion is they had planned to release them already and have decided more or a prime 1 remaster treatment was in order.
If one game is delaying next gen is a zelda game, and I'm not saying an zelda game made by nintendo, I've have always thought that nintendo should continue to allow third parties to make zelda games between the time they finished their internal nintendo one, kind like capcom did in the game boy with the oracle games and minish cap...maybe, I suspect this maybe the case, It's just a gut feeling, I've have nothing to back that up, but since now the mainline zelda games take a lot of time to make, I believe nintendo would see this as a good idea to keep the franchise active between those long waiting periods, and mostly for a console launch, their most great successfull consoles have zelda on launch, if they can release the console with a new zelda they are going to do it, even if they have to delay the console.
It makes sense. Price drops on Switch stuff, one last big holiday … announce “Switch 2” possibly alongside said price drop. Honesty with new Switch owners: telling them that the new system is coming, but there’s never been a better time to buy the OG Switch. (OLED!!)
Clear out Switch stock in 2024, start fresh in 2025 with a new manufacturing process for the flagship. 2025 is set to be a monster year.
Assuming a say... Q1 2025 Launch, I could/would surmise a Metroid Prime 4 as a launch title, so... Could very well give you a tentative/unannounced release 🤞🤞🤞🤞
I don't think it's time to move on from the Switch. I think Nintendo needs to end the Switches life with a bang by giving more exclusives and online games for us to enjoy and possibly grow it's install base to 170 million to 200.
I believe they can do that with the right line up of video games to end it's life cycle.
It would be hard for Switch to reach 170-200 million units since sales are at 140 million at the end of Jan 2024 with annual sales declining. However, there’s reason to believe it could happen. Switch bundle promos have been limited outside of the holidays. We’ve seen way fewer Switch console revisions than what we’ve seen with other systems like 3DS and DS. And lastly, we haven’t seen a true price cut yet. If Nintendo pulls out all of its cards, then it could reach those numbers.
The Switch and Nintendo is in the midst of a Golden Age right now. There’s no guarantee this will ever happen again. I know it’s been out a while, but Nintendo needs to take advantage of this for as long as possible. I’m ok with them waiting until 2025. In fact, I’ve expected this for quite a while now (since 2022). Let’s just enjoy the moment. Heck if it stretches into 2026 and beyond, I’m ok with that too. We are so lucky.
I wonder if the delay is for enhanced security from the backup switch cart reader and dumper that came out a few weeks ago.
As much as I want the Switch 2, I'm happy to wait a little extra longer myself, especially considering how big my OG Switch backlog actually is 😅

They are not delaying the switch 2 for Metroid Prime 4. Metroid is not a system seller
metroid prime 4 will look and run like a switch game because it is a switch game, also it would sell terribly if they don't release it as a switch only game.
There is a good chance the next console can use the joy-con and play switch games, but nintendo should make something entirely new and different for their next console, don't try to make a sequel console - it has never worked out in the past for them.
They wouldn’t delay Switch *just* for Metroid Prime 4, but it will be a Switch exclusive since it’s delayed anyway.
Imagine if Monster Hunter Wilds is in the Launch Period for the Next Gen console if all of this is real.
The reveal/release timing for _Metroid Prime 4_ doesn't need to be tied to that of the Nintendo Switch 2. It could well be some other title that's holding the new console's release back. I can definitely see (and would somewhat prefer) a world where all of the Switch 2 code for _Metroid Prime 4_ is on its Switch (1) cartridge and the game doesn't even need a Switch 2 enhancement patch.
It also makes sense to push it into March 2025 because we will be in a presidential election cycle in the USA around the same time they wanted to launch it. That would distract heavily from the marketing.

I believe they're pushing things back, probably for the 2nd & 3rd wave of games, to be released sooner in the console's life. Like Smash Bros for example.
I think they had a point set to review preparedness, and it was clear more polish and little more time would make a lot of difference. Original reveal of march was the plan, but put back.

My Prediction was that the Switch 2 would be Revealed n Released in 2024, so it looks like my Prediction is gonna wrong with this Delay.
It is most definitely a bummer that the Switch 2 is being Delayed but if it means more Games and that Big Important Title is at Release, I can wait it's all good guys.
I get the feeling the Marketing is gonna be pushed back aswell but I do hope we see that Promo Advertising Trailer in March/April but May, June, July is looking more likely, if the Delay is true.
Metroid Prime 4 I feel is gonna be a staggered Released now, Holiday Title for the Switch and a Launch Title on the Switch 2.
It's gotta be Mario Odyssey 2 or the Next 3D Mario Game that has the Switch 2 Delayed, Launching with a Brand New Mario Game with the Brand New System is the way too go.
Nintendo is like loving a child. They do things you hate, yet you still love them.
Could be more to do with launch window games not being ready and not launch titles (ie, Mario, Metroid). They probably don’t want a 3-4 month gap in releases. On the flip side this seems like it could deflate some momentum going into the launch. Instead of riding high could feel like a sputter if 2024 is quiet. Its also weird that there may be no direct next week and just a partner showcase, maybe they’ll slap in some 1st party reveals - mp 2 and 3, tp and ww. We’ll see.
Metroid Prime 4 is a perfect next gen console release game.... if they want to bury Metroid 6 feet under.
Truth of the matter, there is a very high chance that no matter what the next console is, that it would play Switch games still and the worst thing Nintendo can release is a literal Switch 2 / Switch U, because the Wii even played GameCube games and the DS played GBA games despite being completely different consoles.

I'm 46 and will be 47 this year but also like you. Yes, I'm bummed if the delay is true, yet I'll manage to get through the year as I also have all the games I want so far that have been released but still have 3 games to beat in the first place, then a bunch of casual classics, just hand me MP2 and potentially 3 and I'll be set for sure to go through to March next year.
switch console and game sales will be way down this year compared to any switch year in recent memory
Console sales will decline again, but software sales are still close to all time highs. The install base is soo large, it makes sense that software sales and overall profit are doing so well for Nintendo even heading into 2024.

And in the end the same disappointment at the reality as the rumors didn't pan out.
Then the start of moving the goalposts for the start of another rumor mill covering up for the failure of the previous one.
*DO NOT FALL FOR IT GUYS.* There are STILL plenty of games for Switch 1 yet to release.
I said the following in Rule of 2 Review's video called *"The Switch 2 was a NO SHOW in 2023..."*
*Switch 2 is not coming out in 2024.* And don't look for it in the Winter Quarter of 2025 EITHER.
Switch STILL has lots of life left in it. Look for Metroid this year. THAT's what you need to anticipate for the next 2 years.
I remember when Rob was discussing the possibility of Metroid Prime 4 as either cross-gen or as a Switch successor release, while almost completely ignoring the possibility of it being a Switch exclusive. I firmly believe it will be a Switch exclusive. I won’t rule out that it will eventually come to the next-gen console release. But Nintendo will double dip and make fans buy it both on the Switch and the next-gen console. Nintendo is savvy. They know their fan base will want the game twice. And honestly, even if it doesn’t come out again on the next-gen console, who cares? There’s such a minor difference in graphics now, we’ve ran into the rate of diminishing returns. Many 4K TVs can upscale anyway.

People confuse "their wants" for "actual reality". Easy mistake. We all fall into that sometimes.
Nintendo at the outset of Switch said that they were trying CHANGE how console generations go.
They wanted to EXTEND generations which is actually in line with their true modus operandi.
Nintendo was FORCED into the 5-year console cycle. They HATE that cycle.
Just look at the history & you'll see this easily.
*Game & Watch* went from 1980 to 1989 before successor Game Boy came out.
Its only competition was mainly those Tiger Electronics LCDs which it beat.
Nothing really forced Nintendo to put out successor. They just wanted to try a new idea.

*Famicom/NES* went from 1983 to 1990 before successor Super Famicom/SNES came out.
Its only competition was Sega SG-1000 to Sega Mark III/Sega Master System & Atari 7800 all beaten.

Only new incoming competition and/or failure to beat existing competition force Nintendo to move to a new console generation. Other than that, they like to drag out the generation as long as possible to maximize game sales & entrench mind share. They like to build generations of fans not just fans.
I wrote all that out long form so you can see WHY Nintendo moved from generation to generation.
Now that they have conquered Sony & Microsoft getting them to react to Nintendo's moves rather than the other way around, they now focus on how to contain the Tablet PC sector AKA Mobile & PC itself.
THAT'S their competition now not PlayStation & XBox as I showed above.
I see Switch 2 coming out at Holiday 2025 at earliest now. It won't be early 2025 like people now think.
The Industry Crashing changes everything & we won't recognize this industry within the next 6 years.
Nintendo can take their sweet time getting to the 9th Generation with Switch 2.
Metroid Prime 4 is releasing in 2025, I believe. But it's definitely a Switch title.
If it's in the fiscal report, they stay true to what is in there. We'll get our first look at it this year though.
I wonder if the reason the rumored SMT5 enhanced port hasn't been officially announced is because Nintendo has a deal to be the first to announce it when(or after) they announce the Switch 2. Also makes me wonder if Nintendo is the reason we haven't heard anything new about Dragon Quest 12 and/or DQ3 HD2D remake.
The president of Nintendo said last year the current switch consoles already on the market are being supported until 2025. Nintendo is not calling their next console switch 2.
I'm in a weird boat where I bought a Switch Lite, as I was a gamer that grew up with Gameboy, DS, DS Lite, and 3DS, and never had my hands on a TV paired console by Nintendo... So I thought it would be good enough. However with titles like BotW and TotK, Mario Odyssey, and other titles that would look and play amazing on TV (and also getting an OLED TV), I felt like years after it was a bad decision. So instead of rushing to make another financially bad decision, I wanted to wait for the Switch 2, which has now been a yearly thing I've looked out for, and constantly been disappointed waiting for.
To hear that I'll have to wait another year sucks, but at least knowing it's 1 more year, I will comfortable holding out on buying a Switch OLED or something similar. However I am kind of gutted, and seriously want at least something from Nintendo so I'm not spending my time biting my nails, and staring at my Switch feeling like I want to wait for some upgrade to the games before playing the shit out of them further (TotK 30 fps and terrible pixelation on handheld version just sucks tbh - same with BotW.)
Just buy the OLED. You can always sell it again later. Or sell your Lite. That way, you end up getting some of your money back.
@@Telmarine55 It’s quite a lot of money in my country. 639 vs 900 for a PS5. You also got to consider that resale value is going to be progressively worse as we reach the Switch 2 release. Doesn’t seem worth it for a 7 year old console that was already outdated in power on release.
I hope Prime 4 is a cross gen because I don't want to pay for a $400 or $500 console just so I can play one game.
It’s more likely to be a Switch exclusive than a next-gen only game.

Lets hope we get some bangers throughout the year on Switch and then perhaps we get an announcement for the new console around october.
Metroid has never been a system seller and even when Nintendo released Dread alongside the OLED model, it could barely sell over three million units. Pikmin 4 surpassed Metroid Dread sales, with less advertising and less time in the market.
It wasn't a 'guess' it was based on the fact that all major IP have already been released on the Switch... other than Metroid. We logically expected P2/P3 to possibly come out, and getting P4 at the end of the Switch's life, or better yet, be a cross-platform launch (just like BOTW on 2 systems).
How the hell is Nintendo going to fill up this year with releases? *shrug*

People just need to calm down. It will probably be a good thing if switch 2 is delayed until 2025 in my opinion, isn’t it better to have Nintendo has the best possible lineup for Switch 2? In my opinion, Switch 1 is still selling well and whim it’s not gonna be as big a year, as it’s at the end of its life cycle, there is still some good stuff still to come like Paper Mario The Thousand Year Door, Metroid Prime 4, Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD and yeah I know a lot of these are remakes so what? That’s still something, I’m enjoying my Switch and as a very recent Switch owner, I’m still on a journey of discovering new games and still getting the chance of playing games that I missed out on at release, so my Switch journey has just begun and I’ve got a backlog of games. I’m not ready yet. For me the Switch is powerful enough for the games that are on it. Other people may be ready to move on from the Switch but I’m not, i haven’t played all of the games I want to play yet plus the Switch is my only console by choice because I’m not interested in what PlayStation and Xbox has to offer.

With the NX the reason they were able to reveal during holiday 2016 was because the Wii U was such a flop it did not matter what impact a new console reveal would have on their non existent sales. With the switch, I don’t see how Nintendo could give the console a proper marketing campaign without impact to holiday sales for 2025 release??
Simple. Release the next gen in mid or late 2025 with a reveal in early 2025. I think the rumor is a bit off.

I remember early in 2016 Nintendo NOT releasing the NX later that year seemed unthinkable, and everyone and their grandma was convinced it would release around the holidays. And then in October Nintendo announced the Switch would release the following year, in 2017.
I could easily see them launch Switch 2 in 2025. And they'd be just fine.
I can see them delaying further into Q2/Q3 if they want. Maybe they want to have Pokémon instead of a Mario/DK launch

I love the Metroid series (it is my favorite game series, to be honest), but I know it doesn’t sell as much as a Mario/Zelda does. I just don’t think they would launch a console with a Metroid game. I definitely think it will be released in the launch year but not a game ready at launch. I see either a Mario Kart or 3D Mario at launch.

It’s probably nothing to do with having Metroid being ready for launch, unfortunately, Metroid is not a system seller. As for 3D Mario, the team has been quiet for nearly 7 years, surely their next game must already been developed by now

2025 always made the most sense to me. Above anything else, I imagine Nintendo doesn't want a repeat of the Wii U, and to help do that they need actual games to help sell a new console, while also not alienating the absurdly large audience the Switch has gained. Both issues the Wii U famous failed at after the Wii, releasing this year without building it too fast and too soon. The Switch still has life in it, and 2024 being its swan song gives it time to properly breath and help clear the way for the next console

@@westonmeyer3110 Sure but I feel like that's partially been because the timing mostly didn't work out for when previous Nintendo systems launched in relation to Pokemon's release cycle with the exception of Black 2/White 2 which Gen 5 had a completely different engine to Gen 6 and 7 that was clearly made with the DS's architecture in mind so it wasn't as easy as just slap it on the 3DS, maaaybe Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon would have worked on the Switch but that game only released about 8 months later and they were already working on Let's Go for the Switch by then which released a year later so it made sense to hold out at that point. The jump from the Switch to Switch 2 however should be the most incremental we've ever seen for a Nintendo handheld (unless you count the Gameboy Colour seperately from the original Gameboy I guess) and we're probably going to see a lot of cross gen games so making Pokemon Gen 10 cross gen seems like a no brainer to me if the timing works out.
Besides if we're going by patterns we've never had a Nintendo handheld with more than two Pokemon generations and that might break if Gen 10 releases in 2025 as the Switch would still be relevant (unless they wait to 2026 would I would gladly welcome as Pokemon sure as hell needs it!)

The Switch will be nearly dead in 2025 with the way 2024 is going so far.
Nintendo has completely screwed up yet another console transition.
I bet Nintendo first party games and third party partners games for this switch 2 are not ready yet.
I believe we are gonna see something for MP 2 maybe 3 soon I know the developer has said they want and plan to make those also. Nintendo direct should be out soon. Probably more 3rd party games with some of the final Nintendo stuff.
Nintendo switch 2 yeah maybe 2025. MP4 is likely to come with that announcement and probably a mid to late 2025 to help promote sales. I think we'll see a 3D Mario and Kart game at the launch. I think it makes more sense and more likely to do MP2 and 3 as they claimed they are more a remaster than a remake plus they already got all the resources and game system with prime 1 remake. Can just use most of its resources and mechanics. I believe we'll see prime 2 in the Nintendo direct to come out maybe late spring early summer. 3 will follow in late fall early winter possibly next year. If the switch 2 gets pushed back as far as fall of 2025
I believe it makes more sense to finish the trilogy. Then in 2025 or whenever they plan to release switch 2. They'll first release a bundle of Metroid Prime 1-3 collection if Nintendo thinks it'll sell with the launch of the new console
Follow up with another trailer/demo perhaps for MP4 and it's possible I know many don't want to hear it but if Switch 2 is pushed back to late Fall of 2025. Metroid prime 4 very well could be a 2026 title.
Thats my take what I believe will happen most with so many comments towards metroid and the new console.

For me, if Metroid Prime 4 ends up original Nintendo only, then i don’t see a need to buy the new console. Metroid and Zelda are the main reason I play Nintendo. It will be years before the next mainline Zelda. So, if thats the case, ill wait for Zelda then buy the newest console at that time.
I’m willing to bet Metroid Prime 4 will be a big holiday 2024 release. I don’t think it will be cross-gen. I can see you buying a Switch for that reason. Zelda games are rarely new releases when a console comes out.

Rob, are you cursed? Lots of Devs are saying Nintendo is pushing the Switch 2, to early 2025, because they want enough games ready. You kept predicting the Oled release date, and it got canceled, you kept predicting the Switch 2 launch, and kept getting it wrong... and maybe, just maybe you might be wrong again.

Rob Nintendo hasn't even confirmed that a new console is even coming yet they are still make huge money off console sales and software but who knows

Another reason why Nintendo's Next Generation system in 2025 is because Nintendo has already stated that the Switch will have a 10-year lifecycle; 2017-2027.
Usually, for Nintendo, they will support their previous Hardware and their next Generation Hardware for about 24 months give or take.
If the Next Generation Hardware was to release in 2024, that means Nintendo would be supporting the the current switch for 3 additional more years; which we never seen Nintendo support their previous generation system for that long well into their next Generation lifecycle 😉
I also said for a while that a 2025 release makes more sense from a sales perspective. But it also just goes without saying that next-gen consoles will take longer development times. Unfortunately, this is a huge issue with PS5/XBX and I hope Nintendo sees this and learns from it.
I’d also said before: if you’re doing cross-gen for 3+ years, then youre doing something wrong. So yea, Nintendo will wrap up switch for 2-3 years tops when the next-gen finally comes out.
Every rumour is made up and fake, starting from there even being a next gen console since Nintendo mentioned nothing and gave hints about nothing involving a next gen console.
These "experts" (aka clowns) will say anything and everything to try to make themselves not wrong or appear right, and every single time they are always wrong they make lame excuses like they just changed their plans internally even though they are always wrong about everything unless it is both extremely obvious and vague at the same time that it is impossible to be wrong.
Also, I have insider scoop that Nintendo is making a Mario game. Make sure to give me all credit for being right and giving me all of the clout when this happens, I am a credible insider that knows everything going on in Nintendo!
Also, another huge insider scoop, Nintendo has devices they are working on that might release some time in the future that will be announced at one point that utilize a graphics card and will be for a new console in the future that will be announced and released and sold at a price with games made by nintendo that people will be excited about. I've said 2025 for awhile now and people don't want to hear it. They haven't even dropped the price of the current system which I wouldn't be surprised if they do this year. They'll sell another 5-10 million just by doing that. Nintendo needs to get the next system right and in all reality, they do not have the pressure to release anytime soon. Sure, nerds like us want them to, but they don't need to.
The Switch price drop has me puzzled. One one hand, the Switch is selling so well it makes me wonder if Nintendo will even do price drops anymore in lieu of a better profit margin. In the other hand, if they intend to use the price drop card, then all of a sudden even 2026 enters the picture.
@Telmarine55 agreed. A drop could technically hurt the new system's attachment rate but I could see it go both ways. It's going to get interesting this year to say the least
