I like my saws like that. 61 and 268 xp. Great saws
The 66 actually was built in the later 80’s and 90’s and in the Tomas factory , used a gilordoni open port cylinder simular to the 268 but with the 266 style intake and spark plug angle. All the ones i seen also used the more restrictive 61 mufflers to. Good saws but they dont quite run like a 266-268.
I just learned all this the hard way. It was actually good news for me because it made the decision to use the 268xp setup that I already had ready to go very easy. I used the 268xp cylinder, intake, and carb bolts, 66 carb, and she is sitting here all finished up and ready to go. The muffler was definitely very restricted as you said, I used the muffler for the 266xp that was already opened up and ready as well. Only thing left is a timing advance and hopefully it'll run great.

@darrellpeak2914 I have it all clean and before I put it in the wood, I want to put some ceramic coating on it to gloss it up. I ran out but ordered some from Amazon and should be here tonight. Sooo, hopefully tomorrow you'll get to see it cutting.

Open port 50mm The carb should be one of the bigger ones of the bunch, tillitson 224 or higher# 👍. Think years of production @ 1986- early 90s. For their closed port versions @1986 Husq dropped SE and the XP was born. Nice saw, think it came w/ a black top cover.
