    I own 72 acres of woods & burn firewood in SW Wisconsin. I bought a new Jonsered CS-2152C in 2005, and it has been my primary firewood chainsaw since that time. I do 90% of my firewood cutting with it. It's only been to a shop once, and that was to find a used muffler bolt that I lost. Once we found a matching bolt at the shop I took it back home. I have done a muffler mod & removed the limiters. .325" pitch, .050"gauge, 18" bar with a semi-chisel chain is my preference. Using it never wears me out. I have added my dad's 2004 CS-2165 to my group of saws this past year, but I still like the CS-2152C for most stuff. I haven't bought a saw since 2005, because I've never seen the need since buying my CS-2152C. It does what I want from a chainsaw, & I wouldn't trade it for anything else.

    I must agree. Bought a plastic handled 340 in a basket and slapped a 52cc - $20 P&C on it. Mild porting, MM, adjustable oiler, flat piece from another handle added to stabilize it on the ground, 359 intake, flippy cap. Find myself grabbing it more than the other 50cc saws. Built three on that chassis buying used parts that seemed to have dried up.

    My Pop's Husqvarna 350 with 346xp cylinder/piston, ported muffler, and 357 carb is my favorite saw to run. Totally whoops on my Echo CS-490 in cut speed and anti-vibe. I've been looking to build another, but even a worn out 350 holds a high value on the used market.
    Excited for the CS-2511 clone from NeoTec too! You should bring along your CS-4310sx to china as well ;) Might be the only way americans get access to a 4310...
    I too was cranky to see the 450 clone, when they could have at least cloned the plastic 350

      @ericfore - was it easy swapping over the 346xp cylinder/piston, out of interest what;s the advantage , does it increase the cc ?

    • @ericfore
      @ericfore Před 3 měsíci +1

      @@Tim_othy87 the piston/cylinder are a direct replacement to a 350 cylinder and piston. The 346xp is higher revving and more powerful, but the same CC.
      I did the swap because the 350 was scored up from the intake boot wearing out, causing an air leak and leaned out the saw.

    Looking at saws in a small shop and the owner had a cs2152c someone ordered and never picked up. Highly recommended it and gave me a good deal so had him set it up. Always bought Husky but this is the best cutter I've tried in a 50cc. 18in Total bar and not sure a better firewood saw has been made. I've not found a need for any mods yet. Yellow birch, maple and beech. Just chews through them. Power and weight are a perfect match. Please a clone of this saw!

    I can’t remember Johnson red saw model numbers but Johnson red 50cc saws were very popular in my area including Husqvarna. But the newer saws they made around 2006 you couldn’t keep the muffler on them. Was a huge complaint in my area. Allen keys bolts would back off and you keep tightening them and after awhile you strip the threads in the cylinder. Then you heli-coil them and the same thing. I ran them growing up and I’d say the husqvarna was better just for that reason. I was even going to buy one but they were sold out and I couldn’t get one in short notice so I bought a dolmar 5100s and that was a good saw. I had Zero issues with that saw. Bought it in 2006 and I still own it to this day. Cut lots of firewood and saw mill logs. It’s a bit harder on fuel but it’s a hot rod in my opinion compared to most 50cc saws. I own 13 saws and my father has 12 I’m sure. He’s got husqvarna,Johnson red,echo. He like them all but his husqvarna 50 special is his favourite firewood saw and gave him very little problems since new. I don’t even own a Johnson red just because of that stupid muffler coming loose issue. My dad also has a 45 or 46cc Johnson red and the cylinder came loose on that saw. Bolts come up through the bottom. But he likes that saw and it been good only from that and a pull cord housing I believe

    Have fun in China! Kinda cool project. Isn't there already a 346 clone - the Neotec NH-843, although I haven't seen one for sale for a while (I have one, it runs pretty good - not ported yet - closed port with bolt on transfer caps. I think Charles Brisco ported one for Indiana Doug, and I think the china wrist pin washers get destroyed in the faster builds, and you need to put stock washers in). I haven't run the 550 mk 2 (but have a Jonsred 2260 which is similar), and my Jonsred will definitely outcut that 2152 by a big margin. It is autotune though, and I haven't seen any autotune clones yet? But, that is a great light weight saw, and they could just put a regular carb on it, and hopefully a less restricted muffler - it would be totally worth the few hundred if they did a nice job of it. Love the Dubbs shirt!

    • @novicelumberjack

      Many people would still argue the 346xp is better than the 550xp. Sure, the 550xp is fast, but it has real problems and are not know to last very long. The 346xp is old school and can last for thousands of hours of working time. You can't say that about the 550xp. Most of them burn up before 200 hours of service. Sure, some can last longer... but none will last as long as the 346xp if given appropriate care. That is why it is still #1 to many.

      @@novicelumberjack I have had great luck with them except for one. That one has no usable parts on it. Crushed and destroyed. I actually didn’t know why it was kept. I said the only thing good on it was the flippy caps. I thought this to be true until the 562 came out of the bucket at the end of a cut. Landed straight on the handle. Got a used tank same day from local husky dealer. Lady at counter actually took it off the saw. Took back to work the next day and it didn’t run. Turned out I didn’t notice the auto tune device on carb had broke. Well low a behold that 550 with only flippy caps good on it had that piece and it’s the same # as the 562. A couple bolts here and there left. Everything else junk! 562 is probably the most popular saw around here in the woods. My 346 was stolen but I also have a modded 55 that runs good but just not as nimble as the 550 or 346. I have not experienced the longevity issues but on a normal day I have the 562 in my hands.

I know they run extremely hot for me here in Atlanta. You should have some scanned to see how much run time you are getting from them. For me... I could use one saw for the rest of my life and may never hit 200 hours of run time. So it isn't a big deal. But for a pro, they may put that much time on them in a year. And that is nowhere near enough time for an expensive pro saw to last.

If I do this, I am not gonna send them a stock Jonsered 2152. I will try to address any problems that people like you have figured out to be great bolt-on fixes. Rancher clutch cover, already opened up and modified exhaust, and possibly even 357xp intake and carb. So that when they clone it, they will be cloning an already lightly modified saw.
