I immediately noticed the lack of traction! Was the BF Goodrich KM3 30" UTV tire upgrade worth it?

  • Join us for some fresh air, some new scenery and some Polaris Ranger Northstar Ultimate land exploring and 'making our own trails' episode! In today's episode we are taking a property tour of a 160 acre Southern Illinois farm that is for sale and my buddy Phil and his wife Tammy will be tag teaming and joining us for the property tour and land assessment. Phil will be in his Intimidator UTV riding behind us to get some video footage of my 2022 Polaris Ranger Northstar Ultimate sunset red. But the main goal of this video is to show you how I noticed an immediate loss of traction with my new tire upgrade, which is a set of 30" BF Goodrich KM3 Mud and off-road tires that I just swapped out with the stock/upgraded Pro Armor tires that come standard with the new Polaris Ranger Northstar Ultimate's. We were riding and exploring this 160 acre parcel traversing a lot of fallow fields with a lot of water erosion washouts and it has not been mowed for a couple of years. The property owner, Randy, would walk ahead of us in the tall weeds to assess each known water erosion washout to determine how much of a tipping hazard it was before we hit it with our Polaris Ranger Northstar Ultimate crew. Will I get our new Ultimate crew stuck for the first time? Join us today for some fresh air and beautiful scenery and riding on our side by side's as we check out this beautiful property. UPDATE: At the time I did not realize my tires were at 25 psi! In a future vid I dropped them down to 12 psi, much better! Thanks.

    It will be interesting to see how much the traction improves with lowering the air pressure.

    Yes I agree, he should bush hog some trails through the openings since the property is for sale

      No doubt, it makes a world of difference especially for someone who has never owned land before to see nice, mowed trails. :)

    I have to say you should have expected the traction loss. You had a much more agressive lug before. The BFG are more all around. Slap them in a beadlock wheel and drop the pressure down low and they’ll get ya through anything I run them down here in south Florida swamp.

    • @kapperoutdoors
      @kapperoutdoors  Před rokem

      yes you are right, but this was way more traction loss since they were at like 26 psi or something super high, so there were almost like solid tires, lol. But yes when I lowered the air they had much better traction! Thanks. Ended up getting rid of them since they still rubbed on the body.

  • @hartleyhomesteadmichigan6041

    The treads on the upgrades looked good. Funny how some treads just don’t give you good traction.

    • @kapperoutdoors
      @kapperoutdoors  Před 2 lety +1

      yeah they sure do look tuff! But I'll keep on testing them because I like the smoother ride!

    What tire pressure are you running at? Maybe a little lower pressure will help with the traction. Just a thought. 🤔

      Good call that is next on my list. It is currently at 12 psi, but I am going to drop it to 6 and give that a try next. Thanks

    Your call, but I'm guessing keep em on for the summer and early fall months and then swap em out for the mud tires for hunting season and winter thru spring. Phils machine didnt seem to be having any issues??

    • @kapperoutdoors
      @kapperoutdoors  Před 2 lety

      Well they have a nice and soft ride.. My next move will be to lower the air psi down to about 6 and try it again. Supposed to get better traction that way.

      I ended up putting the stock tires back on since I could not cure the rubbing. But I don't ride enough right now to justify a new set. Thanks

    Omg kapp I'd have a field day in the grown up areas in my 333g turning them then into food plots.
    My Kubota rtv stock mud tires the lugs are separating and need new tires at 1000 Miles.

    Kapper, I would love it if you could tell me why you got rid of the BFG's. Trying to make a decision on Tusk Terrabites or BFG's and value your opinion / input!

    • @kapperoutdoors
      @kapperoutdoors  Před rokem +1

      Only because they rubbed a little at full turn. Otherwise I'd keep them. btw I'm selling them. They are great tires, super smooth ride, I just did not want to do a lift kit or forward A arms.

    • @kapperoutdoors
      @kapperoutdoors  Před rokem +1

      btw in that video the tires had like 26psi!! I lowered them down to like 12 or so. That's why they were a little slick on traction.

      @chadnissen2307 Před rokem

      @@kapperoutdoors Thanks so much for the response. I am with you, i don't want to do a lift or A-arms. With Terrabites running smaller, was thinking of going 30x10x14 Terabites which will end up around 29''. Thinking they won't rub
