UTV Tire Testing at Sand Hollow - Rock Crawling Side by Sides. Polaris vs KRX

  • This week we headed to Sand Hollow to see how 2 very similar tires do on the same trail. The Obor are 34x15 “Predator” tires, and the System 3 are the 33x15 XCR350. Neither are a “rock specific” tire, but seem to both have a medium/soft compound, and a nice, flat top - allowing for more rubber contact on the ground. Both come in at well under 50 lbs, which is impressive.
    We often run the Maxxis Roxxzilla “soft compound” also called “competition compound” and it does exceptional at Sand Hollow, but we are realizing that they are harder on parts because of the extreme traction and added weight, specifically for the non-turbo Polaris General. This test was mainly done to find the “ultimate rock tire” for the General. Spoiler alert - they’re VERY similar! We’d recommend both - just choose whichever you like the look of, and whichever size you prefer. Obor doesn’t make a 33, and S3 doesn’t make a 34 (but they do have a 35 and 36).
    Machine info-

    It was a fun test. We’re gonna need to come back with the new Sticky 35” Obor next month 👀

    Nice review guys. They seem very similar from the looks and sounds of it and both did great

      We’d recommend both options as a good all around option. Thanks for watching

    First time commenter. Watch most vids. Like ‘em a lot. Suggest 2-3 more tire comparisons while drinking various liquids. Then choose best drink for each tire. Thanks

    We are familiar with the 350s and it’s a pretty good tire for sure. The Obor seemed just about the same.
    If you ever do another tire review try the Quadboss 808. I think you’ll be shocked.
    It’s the only tire we’ve tested that’s not labeled a sticky that is below 50 with a durometer tester. It came in at around 46-48. I think a zilla is 42-43. We believe it out performs the 350 when running side by side. It’s a DOT approved tire and wears very well at a value that is very good, especially compared to the cost of a zilla and how long a zilla lasts. Unfortunately a 32 is the biggest it’s made so far.

      Hmm.. very interesting! That’d be a fun test. We will keep an eye out for when they have a bigger option!

    Hey guys, thanks for the video. I just bought a turbo r 4. We come up to sand hollow once or twice a year but most riding is here in Arizona.
    Ide like to get some additional ground clearance and grip which is why I’m looking to replace the stock tires. What do you think would be the right choice? I think I like the System 3 xcr350 but all of these choices are making my head spin.
    Would you get the 33” or 35” version? Or is there another tire I should look at?

    • @OffCamberInd
      @OffCamberInd  Před rokem

      34-35” on the Turbo R. Sedona trail saw are another great option for all around

    Great video! What would you pick between the xcr350, KM3, and terrabites or even something else? I'm looking for a tire that is great at taking corners at speed, good at rock crawling, and pretty good in sand and snow. I live in salt lake but love going to sand hollow and moab a few times a year. I'd also like to get at least 2,000 miles out of them. I have a rzr turbo S 2 seater. Thanks

    • @OffCamberInd
      @OffCamberInd  Před rokem +1

      In that case the Sedona Trail Saw would probably be one of our picks. They’d do well everywhere and you’d certainly get over 2k miles

    • @davidlevy2725
      @davidlevy2725 Před rokem

      @@OffCamberInd Thanks I'll check those out. Do you not think the xcr350 will last 2k miles? Or are you saying they don't perform well in sand and snow? I was leaning towards those based on the high speed performance of them

    for the turbo or high horsepower machines do you like the rockzilla better or the obor/system 3?

    • @OffCamberInd
      @OffCamberInd  Před 2 lety

      For rock specific? Yes, probably still the Roxxzilla. But they are harder on parts with extra traction and weight. They both have their pros and cons

  • @cksmith007
    @cksmith007 Před 2 lety +1

    Would you choose either one of them over Zilla's? ... for the rock crawling that you guys do

    • @OffCamberInd
      @OffCamberInd  Před 2 lety

      Good question.. depends on the vehicle they’re going on. Both of these options would be preferred over a Roxxzilla on the Polaris General, but the Turbo S’s and KRX seem to handle the extra weight and stickiness of the Roxxzilla just fine

  • @bikesrususa

    do you find a round profile tire or a square tire does better at sand hollow?

    • @OffCamberInd
      @OffCamberInd  Před 2 lety

      Square allows more rubber on the ground = more traction in most cases

    • @OffCamberInd
      @OffCamberInd  Před 2 lety +1

      Neither of these would be our recommendation for a “good in the sand” option. The Sedona Trail Saw would be great for trails and sand

    • @OffCamberInd
      @OffCamberInd  Před 2 lety +1

      We’d say they’re a “medium” compound and neither are great on the street, but they’ll get you around
