It also explains why he can only use the demon forms in the Hell Dimension, he can't access them anywhere else

Doubtful, i think he can acess earth creatures, because he is one, everywhere but depending on where he is in he gains additional forms in Teen Titans(tv series) he was able to turn into an alien animal and yet he never shown that again. So the memory is in the RAM rather than in the hard drive unless his basic human form gets corrupted. It would make sense.
Maybe it's like downloading a new font package and the alien and demon forms are like Wingdings and those other fonts that you don't normally use.
I imagine Beast Boy as a perfect version of Ben 10. He has access to The Red which connects all life in the Universe. This means that his power is near limitless and probably only requires him to be in the same plane of existence or dimension as other life forms. We can assume this would be the case since he doesn't seem to freely turn into whatever lifeform he pleases at anytime besides the usual Earth animals that humans recognize. He's never been seen freely morphing into a Kryptonian or a Tameranean or even demons of his own free will on Earth. Although, it can be argued that he is capable of morphing into any biological life form without having to be in the same dimension as the other lifeforms that may not exist on Earth. This could simply be due to his lack of mastery in his ability to do so. So instead, his body will naturally *ADAPT* to his new surroundings if it is unlike Earth. That's my theory on his ability.

You're definitely right especially the fact that since he's so lazy he wouldn't be able to use his ability to it's fullest potential. I think this just adds on to beastboys character tho because everyone knows him for being lazy or distracted at times and making him have full mastery of his ability would kinda break his goofy personality because that would be a scarier beast boy than he already is.

I've been wondering this myself.. But the more often I re-watched that particular sequence of events, the more I realised that he's most likely adapting to the new environment..
actually, I think you might be correct, simply, "the red" is able to manifest creatures after millions of years of evolution, but allows beast boy to access and change to them based on instincts, kinda cool, but also can be a pain, since he mightn't be able to control how the creatures evolve and their abilities(imagine a bear with extremely high strength)
TheTakenGamer think about it.. In the Young Justice universe, Beast Boy had traveled to alien planets with his teammates on at least one occasion after gaining his shape-shifting abilities via blood transfusion, and almost immediately he was able to morph into the fauna native to those alien worlds.
In conclusion, The Red/Green/Grey/Clear are altogether a multiversal concept that enables characters who have access to either of them to use their respective powersets

I’m gonna go with Beast Boy’s connection with the Red on each plane.
He’s born on Earth and has spent a large amount of time on it, so his connection with its Red is very strong. He can turn into Earth animals basically anywhere.
In the Hell Plane, he only recently connected with its Red and didn’t have a lot of time to process it. Had he stayed for a long period of time, he might’ve been able to keep his demon animal forms.
In Young Justice season 2, he is able to turn into an alien bird for a disguise when he visits an alien planet. I think that he can tap into The Red on any planet or dimension he's on, but in the case of the demonic dimension, he couldn't immediately control his form with the rules being different there than in the other dimension.
I definitely like the red explanation more but I always had the theory that beast boy is just unaware how powerful his shape-shifting actually is since he's still developing his powers. That he's not actually limited to animals but he doesn't realize it's yet.
Maybe he doest transform into other humams because whenever he transforms into another animal he gains parts of their instincts so if he transforms into other humans then he'll be in for a wild ride if he transform into a villain or somebody who cant controll themselves.
Like in marvel ruins Mystique suffered from dissiocitive identity disorder thanks to her shapeshifting powers and needed special medication or risk her brain exploding from all the personalities fighting for control at the same time.
I Think beastboy automatically turns into any animal within any environment. Perhaps this is the good thing about his powers..... He gains access to any form "automatically".... No trigon seed (never stated in the movie nor implied)... He probably automatically "downloads" any animal form in any dimension he is in. And I think once he gains access to this form he is able to use it anytime. We haven't seen him use it outside hell but that does not mean he can't (as much as the movie is concerned, it was not shown).... He is quite versatile I guess. If he is exposed to an environment with more powerful beasts then imagine how powerful he becomes.

Remember where his powers come from, a telepathic Martian with shapechanging abilities. I believe his powers use a telepathic connection between whichever creature he chooses to become. Otherwise he would have to memorize the molecture structure of each. In the hell dimension that connection was probably much alien to him causing a sort of feedback leading to the trauma. Once he compensated he was fine.

I think this happened in the comics once, where they traveled to another planet and Beast Boy adapted to that place and started to transform into animals of that planet. I think he did something similar in the Young Justice cartoon.

Just a thought, but I just want to jab at a possible flaw in that theory. When beast boy was in Trigons world, he was able to become the demons. But when he went back to his world he was unable to become the demons again. This was never stated throughout this universe, but since his demon transformations are totally ass kicking machines, and he never turned into them on "The Judus Contract", it is fair to say he lost the ability once he left the world, meaning that he can only become the living beings of whatever world he dwells in. Meaning that his body can't store the genetic memory of whatever he can be and/or what he has been. That being said, that would mean that it goes both way's, that he can't become earths wild life in Trigons world as will. However, it was seen for a couple of scenes after his adaption to the new worlds living creatures, where he becomes human, and a quick moment when he was a donkey. This would then go against this logic and imply that it is something else entirely...
Or he really did just have a bad burrito and this was just all his animal components shitting themselves at once...

Maybe its based on how long he's been in the environment. He's been on Earth his whole life so Earth creatures can like second nature. Maybe if he spent more time in that demon world he'd be able to shift into demon creatures on other worlds.
He becomes a donkey. I think his body stores earth animal DNA since he is an earth animal. But creatures beyond earth he has to be in their habitat. Like he did with the Tamaran beasts.

I think what happens is that like in the teen titans cartoon when ever beast boy is exposed to new animal species basically his body's dna adapts causing him to store the genetic sequence of those other animals so if he wanted to he could transform into them if he thought about it I think he can turn into hell dimension animals if he thought about it but he usually transforms on instinct that's why he only uses earth animals

Dinosaurs are lizard like. Its the reason they are called dinosaurs in the first place. Besides, according to the story, he turns into what dinosaurs really looked like. The comics, series, movies, etc. just show it as the common image in pop culture associated with the dinosaur. But storywise, he doesn't look like that, he looks like a real dinosaur.

Wile I do favor the morphogenic field, theoretically it could be both, the hellseed is what caused him to be able to adapt to it since he had some of the appropriate materials in his body to absorb and reconfigured. And on a tangent, his morphogenic ability might be why the seed didn't work as intended possibly because it was assimilating him and that would include it, so when he changed, it could have been neutralized or at least dormant.

He is called BEAST boy and the term beast has been used to describe monsters and demons many times and not just animals. In the 2003 series he also turned into an alien. Basically his power is to transform into any non-human creature that he has encountered.

Sounds kinda like a reverse Ben 10 now that I think about it. Ben can turn into any sapient 'species' he encounters or has already stored in his omnitrix to my understanding. (I say species in quotes since upgrade is like some sort of nanite swarm I think.) Beast Boy can turn into any non-sapient species but with different restrictions.

I'd think Beast Boy might be able to turn into something like WildMutt since he can turn into a dolphin or a chimpanzee. (Which, much like Dolphins, Wildmutt's species actually does have a language, despite not having civilization.)

Before i even watched the video i had a feeling it was cuz he just adapts to which ever area/zone he's in, which is why he can turn into space creatures. It makes sense, doesn't places have different animals and species so beast boi would just tap into which ever creature group matches the planet or place hes in.

I think the last explanation is most likely because in the old TT, when they went to Starfire planet, Beast Boy turn into a creature from that planet too.

The Morphic Field is probably the mostly likely, because Beastboy seems to be limited to "The Red". If not, he could probably turn into litterally anything, such as Kryptonian/New God/etc.
Considering that in the original Teen Titans Cartoon he turned into one of those big mouthed alien dog things on Starfires planet it's gotta be the second idea, his transormation powers tapping into the natural wildlife of whatever planet/plane of existence he's on

I would have to agree with the second one of it depends on where he is because when he, in both the comics and the show, go to tameran he is able to become some of the aliens native to the planet like the big dog/monster thing.

well if u look into his origins and see where he got his powers in the first place it might be that he just unlocked another feature that was already dormant from when he got the blood transfusion
That was his Young Justice cartoon origin where he gains his ability form the blood of Miss Martian. Initial comic origin has his parents use an "evolution/ reverse evolution ray" to help him get over an infection of Sakutia. They turn him into the one animal that can survive the disease, the green monkey. An after affect of the cure is that he's now green and can shape shift.
After that, the origin was changed so he was specifically bitten by the very green monkey that carried the Sakutia disease and his father gave him an experimental universal antibody shot to cure him that turns him green and gives him powers.
But is it a one time event that makes him retain the transformations or is it more a "only if he's there" schtick

Lol, maybe BB's parents made a deal with demons to save their son or something, that's the only way I can explain it outside of him turning into the dimensions' 'red' energy, which I don't know a lot about but I think is essentially the energy that connects all biological life forms, like how the 'green' does the same for plant life, which heroes like Swamp Thing are able to tap into, so maybe Beast Boy connects to the red and is forced into a Demon form while in the dimension due to demons being the only form of 'red' life in the hell dimension, I feel like that makes the most sense even if you gotta fill in some spaces, like why it prevents him from turning into his animals while there, but I guess it's like a radio signal, and BB can only 'pick up' the demon's radio waves which likely form the majority of the 'red' in said dimension

In Teen Titans TAS, Beast Boy and crew head to Tamaran, homeworld of Starfire, and he is able to turn into a beast of their world. Throughout the comics under the title Menagerie and Animal Man in various otherworld and alternate timelines he has the ability to turn into "mythical creatures". Though these are all different incarnations of the same character across the universe in various timelines. So their explanations as to why one can and one can't would be dependent on the arbitrary rules of the writer of that universe.

My argument *against* the morpho-genetic field, or the Red as you put it, is that while he's in the Hell Dimension, you can see he's still capable of turning into Terran Animals, such as the Donkey when he trots away from Cyborg in the very end clip you used. If the Field is like a wi-fi signal being broadcast around the world to envelope it, then Beastboy would only be able to access one at a time, especially since he would quite literally be cut off from the Terran Field while in Hell.
