Adam Oates - better than Gretzky as a playmaker & passer..?? A few 50+ goal scorers think so...

- We are joined by Adam Oates, one of the greatest playmakers in hockey history - NHL Scouts felt he too was “too slow” as a junior, and he went un-drafted in 1982. However, three years later he signed the NHL's highest rookie contract in history (then) with the Detroit Red Wings, and went on to play 19 seasons in the NHL. He certainly proved his critics wrong, as his speed wasn’t an issue averaging over a point a game in the 1,337 NHL games he played. Oates ended his career with 1,420 regular season points - 1,079 WERE ASSISTS! He is the only player in NHL history to centre three 50-goal scorers, on three different teams helping Brett Hull, Cam Neely, and Peter Bondra reach the mark. Oates was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2012, and in 2017, was named one of the Top 100 players in NHL History. Great interview - very interesting stories about a fascinating NHL career - enjoy!

Oatsie.... became an All-American at RPI in Troy, NY.
Great vid fellas!
Glad you enjoyed it
Oates is definitely one of the greats but if you look at the stats it's not even close with Wayne.
I've always called Oates Mr Assist
Only the laughs would miss this guy 😂😂😂
I want to say, "Are you just stupid?" But let me put it another way. In his Prime would you have traded Gretzky for an in-prime anyone, including Orr? Never mind Oates.
It’s just a compliment…nobody was saying he was a better player than Gretz.
The BEST pure passer the game has ever known.
Lol😂seriously
Great playmaker & teammate, really good passer with a very underrated shot, always worked his butt off. But he is in NO way anywhere close to Gretzky (the greatest passer/playmaker of all time, period) when it comes to passing.
Oates was good but better than Gretzky? C'mon. Click bait is annoying.
Thumbs down from me...
great career and probably underrated as far as the great centers go, but he is no Gretzky
