I always forget that The Roots are Fallon's studio band. Such a great band. Their talents are understated in this show, but not wasted. I'm sure it's a good deal for both parties, so more power to it.

What we love about Jimmy Fallon is that he is one of those successful white guys who is not afraid to show how much he is a fan of a lot of black superstars. He is who he is, and he makes no apology for it. "I love these guys," he often finds himself thinking to himself. He also pays homage. He appreciates African-American talent. He kept the Roots working. A steady paycheck. He is now reminding us who Dave Chappelle is. He grew up on these talents. He's not gonna forget them. Now, that's a honest talk show host. Jimmy keeps it real and we, too, appreciate him for that. He has a lot of black fans!
What you fail to mention is how this guy, who wasn't even on the list of funniest cast member when he was on SNL, got so popular? He does come across as arrogant, but he just truly believes in what he's doing and whilst he may go overboard a little, I think you need an attitude like that to be successful. Anyone's entitled to not like Kanye West, but to say he hasn't been one of the most innovative, influential and important musicians in the last 10-15 years would be complete ignorance.
