History with Cy channel: / @historywithcy

Let’s explore the least known tombs of the nobles in Luxor. You’ve probably never heard of them as some have just recently been discovered! Their owners - high officials of the New Kingdom period (16th to 11th centuries BC) - decorated their eternal dwellings in the most spectacular way.
Come with me to the deserted village of Qurnet Murai and let’s get to know more about the Nubians inside the tomb of Amenhotep known as Huy (TT40), take a look at rare images of Amenhotep III and Mentuhotep II inside the Ameneminet’s burial structure (TT277), and let’s learn about the sacred sycamore tree in the tomb of Amenemhab (TT278).
Then we will explore the necropolis of Dra' Abu el-Naga' where the colors inside the tomb of Roy (TT255) will blow your mind, trust me! 🙂
Inside the newly discovered tomb of Shedsu-Djehuty (which hasn’t been opened for visitors yet) you will learn about the tombs from the Middle Kingdom. Our journey will end inside the tomb of Djehuty (TT11), which during my visit in February 2023 had been opened for visitors only two or three days earlier so you’ll have a rare opportunity to venture through the newly reconstructed, never filmed on CZcams with such a details, the burial of ancient Egyptian noble.
    Let’s go!
    Explored in February 2023.
It's a must-see video for all of you, who visit Egypt or Luxor - the ancient city of the first pharaohs. To appreciate and cherish the magic of the place before you travel to Egypt watch this. My vlog / full documentary will give you a little taste of ancient wonders: ancient architecture, ancient beliefs, and ancient history.

When I see you reading or explaining the images on these tombs, I am reminded of the Voyager space probes with the golden albums on them. Millions of years from now, although highly unlikely, some aliens may discover them and read them to their species. Here you are, reading or explaining these messages to us. I wonder if the makers of these tombs ever envisioned that thousands of years later a beautiful young lady would be reading these messages to the whole world. HOW LUCKY THEY ARE!!! HOW LUCKY WE ARE!!! 👍✨💖🍾🌻🌹😻👀

WOW, Irene! Great episode! I learned alot! I'm going to make a few comments here, so bear with me please. It's tragic that the tombs Art survived for millennia, and in less than 70 year's " professionals" managed to all but destroy, instead of preserve.
It's interesting that the flat wall paintings are characture representation of humans, yet many of the fully 3 dimensional sculptures look like portraits. As an artist I would definitely have been one of the artists working in the tomb!
I believe most of the Gold in Egypt was actually from Nubia ( modern South Sudan). As well as the Ivory etc. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Can't wait for for your next episode. Lots of love. 🖖😁🤘🇨🇦

    • @ancientsitesgirl

Thanks ASG. I went to Egypt 30 years ago and saw most of the best-known antiquities. This tour of tombs in a 'ghost town' brings home to me yet again that the Egyptian moment in time lasted THOUSANDS of years. The forgotten sites of Egyptian antiquities would be premier attractions in any other country. Once again, thanks for covering this amazing village.

These are beautiful depictions, Irina, altho' it saddens me that Humankind has sought to rob-out particular elements for personal gain - it's a common denominator since time immemorial; that said, we are fortunate that you - who is clearly passionate about this period of antiquity, continue to evaluate such once-hidden gems - & without which, we could never imagine the machinatiions of this continent; daily lives of the great & the good ( & the not so generous), as well as the more ordinary ethics of the less well known citizenry. Long may you continue in your quest to rediscover this incredible land. Wonderful stuff !

This is simply the way they adorned themselves. The official ancient Kemet pose involves crossing their arms. Left arm with right on top.
The initial dark-skinned girl at 2:21, holding the tray of gold, bears a resemblance to the dark-skinned girl situated behind the chariot.

Nowadays, they take great care of their monuments. I would like to remind you that 150 years ago, in what remained of the plundered Roman Forum in Rome, there was a pasture for cattle... times have changed, not only in Egypt😉

I changed the name as ancient sites was to vague and people couldn't find it, but I film ancient sites, perhaps in the future I'll expand the subject. :)
