I just started full time at symmetry full time in December and went full speed running and writing applications. It has been difficult this past month, but this video popped up and I DO NOT CARE that it is three years old, this just changed my life.

I tell you what. I'm 64 and have never felt more encouraged to just don't quit. This is heartwarming and so inspirational. Marlin is such a humble person.
I've been watching a lot of Cody's videos lately. This is one is my favorites. I really, really like Marlin and his transparent, authentic story. But I also really like that Cody gave him the floor, and happily did so. Cody shows one important factor that WILL make you successful as salesperson - active listening. This is especially important when working with seniors. They want you to know the value of their lives, how they made a difference. That's a gift. And at least for me, I always walk away with valuable nuggets of wisdom.

I'm not even in the insurance business but I couldn't stop watching. I do watch a lot of motivational, inspirational content, e.g., "You Are Not My Guru," about Tony Robbins, Grant Cardone, etc. But this was one of the BEST and most inspirational videos I have ever seen. I think it moved me so much because of the way you two told the stories in such a human way and boiled everything about succeeding in business and in life to the level of Art Williams, "Just Do it."
I was with AL Willams right after high school, and heard him give the "Let's Do It," talk live at a conference, along with a few other phenomenally inspiring talks he gave. What a gift he had, and I think you have it too Marlin. Just in your own style and maybe not polished up yet...but I can see you being like Les Brown and teaching and inspiring millions. Thank you both for producing this!
This is the most powerful testimony I've ever heard because it was so real and so relatable. Man, I haven't cried since I quit on my family and ended up locked up in the hole over 10 years ago and lost everything. I got out after 16 months and found some success in the car biz, been floundering for 2 years as a real estate agent feeling ashamed, and now I'm studying insurance for the exam. I'm so grateful for this content Cody. I'm gonna shake your hand and thank you one day Marlin. Bet.

We have separate 2 times and is on the verge to separate again. I'm not giving up my dream, but most importantly, myself. Thanks again Marlin & Cody.

Just stumbled on this one. I hope you HAVE made people watch this Cody! It’s so freaking good. I related a lot to the procrastination portion. I’m a relentless procrastinator. I love what he said about running to do hard things until you like it. I already get up at 3:00AM to get a big jump on the day, but I’ve avoided cold showers and working out consistently. After watching this last night (instead of studying for my license exam lol), I decided to start training my mind and body to do hard things. I took my first cold shower until I liked it, right after working out past “comfortable”. I didn’t even realize it was New Year’s Day until I got out of the shower, and smiled real big because I KNOW this year is going to be different. I’m just going to do it. Thanks so much for this interview.

I'm freshly new to the insurance career and scared beyond belief of this opportunity. after building homes and military my entire life, this is a new world to me. no money to my name as well, 5 kids at home, my truck getting repoed i spent the last little bit to my name getting my license and taking my test. afraid that I'm going to fail and it's all going to suffer. this gives me some confidence to just not give up, have faith and trust. thank you for this.

Having a “Broke” mentality is detrimental as you said Marlin. I can relate to that and I’ve just realized how much this state of mind has consumed me throughout the years. I’m determined to set stop with this and adopt a more productive mindset, one that holds me accountable instead of blaming the world for my mistakes. Like you said I will gravitate towards pain since that is only an obstacle that will help me grow and shift my perspective in the long run. Failure is constant learning which is key to Success. This is hands down the best video, I've watched. Thank you Cody for interviewing Marlin, this made me flip my switch in my head every time he snapped and said "flip the switch" there were so many things I took away from this. I have so many notes "If you don't overcome your fears, what is it costing you?"

What a great and relatable story. I am not far from where Marlin was those years ago. I too had a random conversation with a gentleman the other day while eating lunch that honestly changed my life. He opened my eyes to this business that i have never even looked into. His mentality and success was something i was in aw of. That forced me into this rabit hole of research on youtube and how i came across this video. Marlins story added fule to my fire and I am grateful to hear his words. This was probably the most inspirational video/talk I've ever heard. It reminds me of the movie "The Pursuit of Happyness". The last word is misspelled because that was a part of some scenes in the movie. The guy that that movie was based on was homeless too and crawled and scratched his way to the top.

VERY powerful video. This video was posted a few weeks after I slept in my car in the dead of a Michigan winter. 8 months later I am preparing to pass the Michigan State Insurance Exam this Friday. SO much of this man's journey I identify with, from the struggle, to almost losing my family, to the drive it took to not give up on yourself, to look at the raw results of your actions a recognize the need to change. Truly inspiring Cody. Your content never fails to keep me focused on getting better as an agent and a man.
