"underwhelming" depends on your definition. For non-gamers the cards are amazing. Architects will never have to worry about pre-rendered engines again. Most professionals who need good GPUs will have instant benefit from the RTX cores as soon as DXR is released, as Ray-Tracing is used pretty much everywhere. The world is not made of gamers only.
Cayo Santana these cards are GEFORCE and thus made for gamers. Its Nvidia's gamer line of cards so its really bad if they miss the mark and make the cards only interesting for people who need the cards for professional use.
Still I am waiting for the new med-high range of the 2060 to see what nvida has to offer for the average consumer. The top range gamer cards are really not where nvidia makes its money as they sell so few of them compared to cards like 1060 and 970 for instance.
There are plenty of professionals who simply can't afford a Quadro and use Geforce for work. This generation's gap between the Geforce and Quadro is even narrower than previous generations, as both the 2080 and 2080 Ti have the same amount of RTX cores than low end Quadro cards. Also, these cards are not underwhelming under any circumstance. They are not as big of a leap in performance as Pascal, but that's because (1) Pascal was amazing and (2) they have to share die area with 3 other types of cores that didn't exist in previous generations. My only complaints towards NVIDIA are about the prices.

Heat didn't kill it though, unless it takes 1 minute to get to the splash screen... I did the math above, after 1 minute, the water temp would increase ~30c, but a splash screen doesn't take that long. In fact, it probably didn't even hit 5c over ambient (which it would be doing in benchmarks obviously.

Derek King Ok, 500w... Splash screen takes under 10 seconds for me (heck I'm into Windows almost by then...), that's still less than the 30c I quoted.
I run a water cooled tablet, my pump duty cycle is about 5%. You can let it "cook" for 20 seconds, before you pulse water (really even 0.5s), and you'll only see a 1-2c drop. Running it constantly is pointless (but I can't make it run too slow, otherwise it stalls).

Tablet is overclocked 44% (and running 40c colder than out of the box stock). Its actually a pretty significant gain for the $5 and few hours while I was bored to design it (assembled while watching a boring movie).

Any CPU in existence, even consuming more then 1,000w for less then 5 seconds (bios splash screens are essentially instant by comparison on things, Jay himself said it shut off immediately the moment the pressed the power button) won't do any harm to the CPU at all.
If a single transistor failed, his CPU literally wouldn't work. Yet it is, so it's not the CPU's fault at all if it failed.
Honestly, I love this competition between you all.
It's really added some flavor to innovation and pushing the limits of the abilities for all involved.
It's also had to be a blessing to those like you who've been reviewing for what, over a decade now ?

On the CPU have you redone the THermal Paste yet since the overheat? I once thought I did the same and I had cooked the thermal paste, when I reinstalled new paste and reset waterblock it worked fine, so you might give it a shot if you have not already.

For those who used to watch his content from time to time over the years, it is quite obvious that his fans, and his drive for views and money have changed what he does. The last thing I watched of his, he literally tried directing people to buy his $100+ plastic matt over 5 times. He continuously goes on and on about his own merchandise. I more often than not feel like I am watching an infomercial now.
Steve just makes clickbait infomercials to sell his own products, make $ off his fans. You can feel however you like about him, but as someone not obsessed with him, for whatever reason people are, I just see a greedy kid that appears to have discovered he might have a way to get rich.

@ Jayztwocents why don’t you try to cool the water cooler with chilling liquids directly... i.e., instead of a water to air heat exchanger, water to cooling liquid heat exchanger. It will increase the thermal duty to many fold, overclocking will be piece of cake.
Plate type heat exchangers will give u the best efficiency, but even shell and tube type will be much better than the current setup.

He could just run the water over the window AC unit cold side exchange. Many people submerge it, but you could just have it waterfall back into a bucket... Wouldn't require any real mod, and you don't damage your AC unit. Plus that's super simple...
I'm guessing he's avoiding getting parts under dew point to avoid the mess with condensation. Air works just fine to keep the parts at ambient. otherwise, for short runs, and not giving a crap about practicality, a 5 gallon bucket of ice water would make a great water tank.
Some day I'd like to do a custom loop filled with alcohol/anti freeze and a bucket res full of dry ice. Condensation would be a bitch, though.

Jay, I can explain exactly why it says you are in Canada. Given that you are in California, I’m assuming that your ISP is Frontier communications, because this is the only provider that I know of that has this issue as I happen to have this issue myself. When Frontier bought the 47.xxx.xxx.xxx block of IP’s they were originally from Canada, some IP trackers have not updated this information yet even though it has been about two years. So even though you’re in the US, the tracker that 3D Mark is utilizing has not been updated to reflect that information. This is also the same reason that if you happen to be on your network and go on Instagram and see a post with Instagram music it will say “ Instagram music is not available in your region” same thing with Starbucks, it will say that you are in Canada. I originally found this from a post on DSL Reports. I hope this helped with your confusion on this.
That block of IP's belonged to Nortel Networks. They were HQ'd in Canada. I used to work for them in the office in Richardson, TX and everywhere I went assumed I was in Canada as well.
This is why Geoblocking by IPs is such crap. At my last job in Vancouver Canada, my IP would always show up as being in Los Angeles California. IP Geoblocking or even just Geolocating is stupid.

I mean I've been ill, as in unable to do much of ANYTHING, for the past year now, which means no work? No work = $0 = BROKE. I mean, I've been a sick bastard most of my life, just never been PHYSICALLY unable to do anything before :P It is what it is, and w/ my shit insurance, things are not very good and moving slow as hell. So yeah, basically, the PC, and gaming, keeps me going mentally, because for someone in my situation, what the hell else is there? (Besides football season, thank God for that) Just got to wait it out, and hope I get better (or die, whichever comes first). So as far as upgrading, which I could REALLY USE as this 1070 Ti has been giving me some issues (and RMA from Hawaii? If I pay like UPS to package it up good w/ the right packing materials and get insurance like you're supposed to, it can easily cost me a hundred bucks. Shipping to/from Hawaii sucks), I'm stuck waiting it out. Hopefully I get lucky for Christmas.....

The delay you experienced is likely due to an outdated cache response. The cache layer that served the website usually loads a fresh copy of the data every few minutes.

GOD DAMN JAY.... you need to go and take a set of water blocks to a AUTOmotive AC specialist. you should be able to plumb a condenser through water blocks and run straight coolant GAS and electric ac pump... might be expensive to build but you can set it up to hold ambient room temp with EXTREME head room and no dew on the chip sets

Suggestion: Dedicated power supplies for each GPU, with a boat load of capacitors attached to the rails. Might struggle to start up, but once its up, it might give you that little bit extra. Oh, and a big ass power filter/regulator

Mesh is worth a good amount of score and improves your graphics. You can use up to 1.4v (roughly a .500 Uncore Voltage offset), 1.300 VCCIO (stabilizes mesh), up to around 1.35-1.355 for Mesh. Try for 32-34x on Mesh.

We all are on Fios in Southern Cali and have IP addresses they purchased from Canada maybe 2 years ago, lots of crappy IP Geolocation databases still have those subnets marked as Canadian!

remember to do ctrl + shift + del in chrome to clear the cache. Stupid chrome tends to just give you old cached info when you visit the same site multiple times to save data and time..

Best thermal paste sound effect EVER CREATED !
Clear cmos and reset block with new paste. Cpu will be great again. Had to clear cmos once on a temp spike after I replaced the thermal paste and did not set the new upgrade cooler properly. Seemed to mess with the motherboard for some stupid reason I can not explain. Was able to regain original overclock with better temps after with new cooler.
Had a golden ticket for the Silicon Lottery. Wipes ass with it.

With the Asus control software you can start gaming mode, which stops all background activities and defragmentate the VRAM. It could help your system a little bit, you don't even have to use the Asus system, because I think without an Asus Graphic card you maybe can't use it, a system, that works simulator could work fine.

Slinky doesn't use LN2 - also it's not really "war" when even with AIB BIOS handouts, the power limit is still so incredibly constrained. That's like two small dogs going at each other on the leash.
