To activate hard mode, jump onto one of the grenade spawn boxes in the beginning and on top of the pistol spawn box. Then, jump onto the little boost under the vent. Finally, jump onto the pipes to the right, above where vehicle opening is, following the pipes until you see candles in a little hole in the wall. Keep going in and press 'e' on the panel at the end and flip the switch and go back to the boat to start the mission.
