One of the best character moments for Tai-Lung was that one scene in the "Vs Shifu 2.0" where Tai had a look on his face that showed the old him still deep under the anger but at the same time the tragedy of the fact that it's too late to turn back.
That was a very emotional fight, when he had the flaming fists, and said âAll I ever did. I did to make you proud. Tell me how proud you are shifu!â That was very sad

You can see it even with Lord Shen. They both have moments were they could turn back, but they don't. Both tragic in their own way.

Tai-Lung basically dies in this film, the Wuxi finger hold is a move that transfers the essence of a Kung Fu warrior into the Spirit Realm, basically meaning that Tai-Lungâs physical body is dead.
Yeah, also when Shifu tells Po that the most fun about that move is "cleaning afterwards".

What I love about Oogway is that he kinda falls in line with but also subverts the sort of infinitely wise mentor figure, like dude has it all figured out, like heâs unbelievably wise, but sometimes heâs like a fortune cookie quote dispenser and it doesnât always land.

I think something that most people donât notice is that after Shifus first fight with Tai Lung he always walked with a limp. Because they fought Tai Lung hit his legs pretty hard and probably did some major damage. Nice continuity
Youâre right. The Furious five are based on five of the animal styles of Kung fu. Also, since Tai lung is a snow leopard he represents the actual leopard style Kung fuâ
And Po eventually represents the Dragon style, which combines several styles of kung fu.

Black panthers are leopards who habe to much melanin, wich makes them dark, like the opposite of an albino. Therefore Tai lung is a black panther because he has dark fur with dark spots. Not all panthers are really pitch black.

6:15 I am not a âKung Fu personâ, but I do know that those are styles of Kung Fu, specifically part of the Shaolin Animal Styles. The most interesting part is that each member of the Furious Five uses the corresponding animal style while Po, as the Dragon Warrior,uses Dragon Style. There is a Film Theory episode that I learned that from.
"Shifu loved Tai Lung like he had never loved anyone before...or since." Gets me every time. Makes me empathize with not only Shifu and Tigress, but makes me understand the gravity of the fight to come.
It took me several viewings to figure this out since it's not explicitly stated, but the main reason Oogway chose Po was exactly *because* he was the physical antithesis of a kung fu warrior. Because of his fatness, he'd be immune to Tai Lung's nerve attack. This even gets foreshadowed in the acupuncture scene. Po is also really bouncy, which works very well against Tai Lung's brute force, foreshadowed by the children's punching prop. I just absolutely love how every twist and reveal can be traced back to a certain bit of setup earlier in the movie, so nothing feels totally out of left field. And yet, not every bit of setup and payoff is explicitly acknowledged, which allows the audience to piece them together on another viewing, and tremendously raises its rewatch value. God, I love the writing in this movie so much.
Po's dad is played by James Hong, you've probably also heard him voice act if you've watched things like Avatar The Last Airbender (He was the mayor of that town that hated the Avatar) or some episodes of the original Teen Titans where he played a minor villain named Professor Chang.

Not a Kung fu practitioner myself, but after research I can confirm that not only are the five reflective of actual styles, Tai Lung and Po both fight using styles reminiscent of the Leopard and Bear style respectively.

The fight on the bridge is one of my favorite scenes in all Dream Works movies in general. The music is FIRE.

How old is master Oogway? Though his true age is never actually confirmed it is mentioned that he is at least 500 years old.
Praying Mantis is the newest of the animal styles depicted in the movie. The monk Wang Lang developed it less than 400 years ago after seeing a praying mantis fight off a bird. He studied the moves of the mantis and mimicked them to develop this new style which he brought back to the temple to test on his fellow monks. He got his ass kicked. Unfortunately, his footwork was crap as mantises tend to be rather immobile. So he took the footwork from monkey style and incorporated it. When he went back to the temple, he completely owned those bald bitches. This is why you see Master Mantis on Master Monkey's shoulder so often.

You should totally check out the rest of the trilogy, especially the second one! Many may argue that it is the best out of the three and I couldn't agree more! Definitely looking forward to more vids!

Totally!! One of my absolute favorites đ. Being able to tell a story so well with very little dialogue *chefs kiss*
There's a reason why Po is so good at Kung Fu. It's cause of his DIET. Pandas are lazy, slow and tire easily mainly cause their diet consists of mainly bamboo, which doesn't give them the vital nutrients they need for energy and strength. Po however is raised on meat, good veggies. This gives him the energy he needs. Also he could defeat Tai Lung cause of his veins being deep in his skin, which is why Mantis had a hard time finding the veins, leaving Po invulnerable to his nerve attack.

Funny you should say that Tai Lungâs escape is like a video game. There was a kung fu panda game a long time ago. I played it on my Nokia.
JV, great reaction yet again! Honestly, not only would I consider the main character Po one of my favorite characters in this film, but I also considered Master Oogway one of my favorites as well. I mean he has some of the best lines like, âThere are no accidents,â and lines like that. I also liked how characters like him, and Ping made metaphors to help either Master Shifu, Po, or characters like them to get done what needed to be done, you know? And yeah, the characters, and story overall was well thought out. I would say that 1, and 2 were my favorite Kung Fu Panda films in this franchise. So yeah, Iâm looking forward to watching you react to 2, and 3 fairly soon. Well, awesome job yet again!
You should definitely the 2nd and 3rd movies it addresses the parents missing. Tiger mantis, viper, crame, and monkey are real styles. James Hong voice the Emperor's advisor in the original mulan. I like how this movie teaches you not to judge someone who is different. And finding new ways of thinking and training as well as never giving up. But also being careful of giving too much attention and to just one person. Fun fact Tigress is Shifu's adopted daughter. That's why she was trying so hard to prove herself. Oogway was over 1,000 years old.

I'll never forget the first time I watched KFP, it was so much better than I thought it would be. You have insightful reactions to this, some people guess right away that the scroll is empty and others are surprised when it is (I was one of the latter lol.) Bravo on another great vid!

My favorite part is the fact that he stress eats but once he finishes his training with Shifu he states that he is no longer hungry, meaning that he no longer feels stressed about his role in all this.

Bruce Lee had a three step system for learning Kung Fu (which can be a reference any skill and not just martial arts). The first is the yin and yang symbol separated symbolizing the mind and body not used to the new skill. The second is the yin and yang together symbolizing having practiced and becoming proficient in the skill. And the final is nothing, symbolizing you can perform the skill without even thinking. The best way I can describe it doing a mundane routine in your life which you do so much you donât even have to think about it. I have talked to painters and writers who have said they were writing or painting without even thinking about what they are doing, but what they perform in that state of consciousness is amazing.
I love how many reactors go all kung fu moves once watching this series. It's up there with Cobra Kai or Karate Kid. The first Kung Fu Panda played on the cliche of believing in yourself and while that is a cliche thats been used over and over, they did it so well in this film it didn't feel overdone. You gotta check the behind the scenes watching Jack Black you know he is without a doubt the live version of Po. The casting director did great choosing him for Po.
