Both are reward’s because you gotta earn a spot on a team & you gotta work to get that championship or medal & tbh it’s harder to win a NBA championship vs a gold medal simply because of the discrepancy in level of competition.. 7 of the last 8 Olympic gold medals belong to the USA playing in FIBA rules.. can you imagine what the USA will do to the rest of the world if FIBA decided to use the NBA style ??

@@carlgilmore-murry5789 what u mean harder? How is it harder when big name players can just work their way into championship teams? Remember lbj, durant? In international competition, u r locked in a team based on ur roots, nationality, no cheating their way into championships. That's the real world competition. Not with these teams, with these players that can cheat their way into championships just to build and chase their legacies. In nba, u got 4 chances in 4 years. In fiba world or olympics, u got only one chance every four years. It's just easier for usa to win internationally, the bigger stage, the world tourneys cus obviously talent wise, usa still has the best pool of talents of all the countries that compete. But not anymore, it's not easy anymore. These smaller countries are catching up fast. Also one thing to note, in nba if u became a champ, it's for the brand, the state, the players' legacy. In international if u win, it's for countries' pride and glory. For a patriot like me, i'd take the later any day, it's the bigger reward, u have the whole nation on ur back, and it will really show that we the best in the world.

@@carlgilmore-murry5789 I was just speaking generally, across ALL sports.
It's probably why Noah Lyles felt so strongly about the World Champions thing.
USA has the most talent in basketball. But saying that the NBA winners are World Champions is rigging the game and giving them an undeserved title because (almost only) "American" teams can win that.
There's an honour and pride in the international game that the NBA will never have.
To actually represent your family, heritage, your home, wear the national colours/flag, hear your national anthem, have YOUR whole country behind you, it's different.

People act like this is a brand new development.... 2019 was a pretty great team with Pop as a coach and lost. 2002, 2004 and 2006 were back to back to back tournaments the US didn't win. In 06 the s5 was as following: CP3, DWade, LeBron,Melo and Dwight Howard. On the bench (among others)Chris Bosh, Elton Brand and Joe Johnson. LeBron averaged over 30 in that NBA season and DWade won finals MVP. Melo was already a superstar and CP3 comfortably won rookie of the year. Greece had 0 NBA players and beat them. It took the avengers in 08 and 12 to win by like 8 points against Spain. International teams now have really good NBA players and elite talent in the Euroleague, which somehow still gets devalued by the US media and NBA fanbase. The fundamentals are much better over in Europe, even Kobe said that he benefited heavily from growing up in Italy. Watch the Video by Basketnews on this topic, he explains the terrible fundamentals by team USA. I think a superteam will win Gold, but it's not set in stone.

The 2004 team was not the team that qualified and that team was beating Argentina by 30 in the first half during qualifying. That was the first post 9/11 Olympics and the US team was receiving a lot of threats so the veterans backed out. They stayed in Turkey just prior to the Olympics for safety reasons and a bomb did go off at their hotel, although they had already left and were not there during the explosion. They were so shook up they lost their first game to Puerto Rico, they were heckled relentlessly by the Greek fans and eventually they lost to Argentina.

That's a big part of most pro basketball players' careers.
Which is to say, this division between role players and star players is very situational.
The way I would assemble the roster, if I were the GM, is to start on the defensive end.
There's no reason a country with this much talent should have a single sub par defender on the court. The USA has guys that can do both defense and offense, those are always the best guys!

If people think winning the NBA title is the same as capturing a world championship, then they are all kind of stupid. It is a national competition involving US teams. World championships or competitions always involve countries or athletes of different countries competing against each other at the international level. The English Premier League and La Liga, the top soccer leagues in the world, have more players from other countries playing in them. The champions of these leagues are not called : world champions. There is a tournament for that which is called FIFA World Cup where the winner is called the world champion. Argentina, which won the last tournament, is the current world best; the Champions League, a continental competition, which involves the best clubs in Europe, where the best players of every continent are playing in, the winner is not called World champion. The fact that the NBA is the best league in the world where some of the best players in the world are trading their talents does not make it a world competition. It is a national tournament or competition. It is the same for NFL or MLB or NHL and so on... It always sounds idiotic when you hear commentators or ignorant CZcamsrs or people think winning a national contest is equated to a world championship. Noah Lyles is right in every aspect of his interview. People need to educate themselves like Stephen E. Smith did.

Cricket in India is like NBA for Basketball in the states. We have a world champion in basketball now which is Germany, who beat the USA by the way and not Denver Nuggets. NBA is a domestic league and not an international league. FIBA us the world governing body for Basketball, the winner of its competition is called World champion. I think all NBA superstar must go and compete in fiba world cup. Send best of the best and don't send second layer. Winning NBA title is national champion, but winning in world cup is a world champion. And this year the world champion is Germany.

Agreed! The FIBA Basketball World Cup champion is still the Basketball World Champions, that is Germany. Germany will be replaced come 2027 FIBA Basketball World Cup in Qatar so Team US can prepare and get the Olympics Basketball medal, that doesnt matter. They are still not the World Champion in basketball. 🏆

@@user-hf8zv7qw4l Yup, I agree! The title of "world champions" is given to the winner of the FIBA Basketball World Cup. If Team USA wins the Olympics in 2024, their title would be "Olympic Gold Medalists"! 😂

Fiba and NBA is different, there a lot of rules in FIBA thats makes a superstar NBA player restrict their ability to play to its full potential, unless youre a hybrid player that could play in both in leagues like KD, year 2000 up to 2023 has define basketball, athletic and non athletic players, non athletic players will find ways to score thru team play, athletic players will score and score, shooters will exist in both leagues especially athletic shooter, non shooters athletic may survived NBA, but shooters will thrive in in both leagues and will excell if athletic

In NBA, each team had 72 games plus 21 playoffs games and 7 games chance to win a championship, while i in FIBA you have 7 or 8 games, 3/4 elims, 1 game chance for each qf, sf and finals, FIBa may be short tournament, but adjustment is day to day, the pressure is day to day, youll never know might happen, KD may get injured, you have to play 11 only, no reserved, you wake up bad from sleep that may affect your game, games intervals usually less than 24 hours. Host nation's weather affects teams playing condition, etc. like in Manila its humid

I normally love Brian's takes, but I'll be honest. Him saying there were no issues in FIBA for team USA is completely wrong. Brandon Ingram did not try on defense, he barely even came alive on offense unless the basketball was coming his way. To the point where they benched him for JOSH HART - in the STARTING LINEUP. It was a blatant issue about ego and it's very denial to say otherwise if you watched the games.

They say the NBA Champions (Denver Nuggets) can beat the World Champions (Germany).. I beg to disagree, coz if the Nuggets joined FIBA for the World Championship, they'd have to remove Jovic, Murray and their other international players from their roster.. They will not win that tournament (The NBA Champions are led by International players)

BW is well known as a warriors, and Steve Kerr hater. I love how he disregarded Kyle Kuzma, who actually played and said it was the fall of the leadership, and how it was constructed. Wouldn’t you think that a player who is on the inside, actually playing on the team would better understand what the issues are?
