I absolutely love how the artstyle and animatronics play on what was actually popular at their peak and what animatronics actually looked like. Not nearly enough FNaF and FNaF-aligned content plays on how they actually work and what they were like.
Adding fur and rubber snouts/faces can definitely add a lot to the fear factor. I think the only reason the original fnaf is scary is due to atmosphere.

I love this game's art style. The animatronics look as if meat canyon did a spoof on fnaf and that was brought to life. Absolutely horrifying, which makes it all that much better.

They really nailed the uncanny valley feeling of looking at the bots through the cameras. Phenominal.
Fun fact for everyone that sees this: The whole Five Nights at JR’s actually can be really canonical and fits into the main timeline of FNAF due to there being a location that William Afton tries to get into known as JR’s. This place is seen in a later FNAF game where Afton is restricted from going into a location called JR’s (most likely because he wanted to test the whole kid-possessing-animatronics more). This fan game is a nice addition to everything else existing into the timeline, and patches up some rougher areas of the timeline, whether intended or not…

I would actually love to see a sequel to this. The models were fantastic and it was a refreshing concept for a FNAF fan game.
Well, it isn't a sequel, but there is new content coming out for JR's in the near future. Story and game mode DLC. I'm really excited to see what they're coming up with.
I love how JR’s puts heavy emphasis on the paranormal side of Five Night’s At Freddy’s.

Right? I always hoped that aspect of the games would be expanded on, considering how fucked up the story the game has built really is.
This game is definitely true to the original tone of the series, lasting from the first game to the OG novel. It manages to feel very grounded and self-contained for that reason. The main series kind of lost that touch after Sister Location was incorporated into it, rather than remaining as a spinoff as originally intended. This is despite Sister Location on its own being good.
Plus heavy emphasis on canon lore that makes sense 😂😂

Id love to see mark make a series where he plays through and reviews fan games, considering he pretty much helped pioneer that genre. So much good stuff and hidden games on gamejolt, and it could help developers create even better games.

It's amazing how this game is more engaging to me as a fnaf game than security breach. Yes, this game needs some fixes here and there (I have been watching Astral spiff playing it) but that aside is so good and well thought
It succeeds in the uncanny creepiness that the first fnaf had that made it so popular before the series moved to both technologically advanced shiny marvel animatronics and withered husks. The post-death art of this game is fantastic.

@@jammo7370 Indeed, as much as I loved all the games up until before AR and SB, I think Scott went too far with trying to implement sci-fi aspects onto what was originally a paranormal realistic horror experience in a confined space in near pitch black environments.
It just became a shitty wannabe space age horror game, really wrecked FNaF for alot of long-time OG fans of the franchise back in its golden days.
Which is why a reboot is the best way for FNaF to continue successfully, moving forward, unless Steel Wool is trying to milk the franchise and fuck it up beyond fixing like they did with that disaster excuse for a “game” Security Breach.
I can't even begin to describe the feeling of watching Mark go from "nah, I got this" to actually watching tutorials. Proud of you, Mark. Lmao

Maybe something that could have called more attention to the marionette was a haunting option specific to them, like perhaps the music playing is distorted/corrupted, or has cutting/volume issues. Kind of like BB but not a completely obvious tell, it'd be mixed in with the rest of them normally, so they have to pay more attention at all times

This is a pretty interesting game! The jump scares didn't get to me like they usually do, but the gameplay loop is interesting, and the dread that builds up as you call animatronics back is a nice touch!

I love all the different styles this game utilizes. Especially the claymation cutscenes, those looked really cool and well done.

This is ever cool! It fits so well with the time line! Because is one of the video games (midnight motorist) there is a little bar called “Jr’s”! This is where the father of one of the MCI kids went but was kicked out due to the fact he had drank to much! When he returned hope he saw his kid had locked the door to his room, and when proceeding to go outside and get in through the window, he saw it broken and footsteps leading away from it! There were also animal footprints outside by the bushes. William (dressed as Bonnie) got the kid out (using the excuse to get out of the abusive household) and proceeded to lure him back to Freddy’s! Just a fun little fact. And not to mention we aren’t sure if William used the spring Bonnie suit and it just wasn’t raining when he kidnapped the child, or if he was wearing a costume (not spring lock suit) so he would not die.
Two things I appreciate about this game:
1. The animatronics are so creepy that it’s borderline hard to look at them, and yet you can’t help but appreciate how unsettling they look.
2. I love how the game just transitions different genres seamlessly - first it’s a visual novel, then a 3D game, _then_ it’s a unique take on the FNaF formula. How is that even possible???
Perhaps we’re better off not knowing…
I love how realistic the animatronics look. They look vintage like something that was meant to be fun and cute for kids but ended up looking absolutely terrifying after so many years. These are the types of fan games we need more of

This could be the only fnaf game that beats the originals on the realistic tier also that the machines make sense like the pc how it acts plus the small led green screen that uses the pen touch from like the 90s thats what i could call attention to detail

Well the stuff about Jonochrome that like became known not long after Flumpty's 3 might be a reason for that.
(If you don't know, he admitted to grooming or something along those lines, I forgot the details but it was something similar to that)

The fan game community seems to be the only thing keeping the franchise an actual horror game 😑 . Obviously the implications in Security Breach are still true to FNAF, but it's a shame the game was WAY toned down to make it more kid-friendly. And that's just the bare bones of the problems with that game, lol...

This feels like the game that was even before the prequel of FNAF (FNAF 2) because the animatronics have the button design exactly like the minigame sprites... and I find that very cool and wonder if that was added purposely.

the jumpscares are actually so fun and the title screen for who was haunted shows up is also super interesting. the art, the details and graphics in the game as well are so good to look at and nothing looks out of place or weird. i honestly really like this game too because it actually does something with the whole ghost children possessing the animatronics.
my biggest pet peeve is how short the jumpscares are. if they were 1-2 more seconds longer i would love them

A tip for Mark or anyone else playing, the 'glitching' stability counter will only ever be for BB, so it's easy to rule him out after every round. You can also get in lots of repairs since you know who the imposter is.

the scariest part of this game is that the music kinda sounds like my alarm so it keeps me on edge
something ive noticed with the message that notifies the player when the ghost is active is that, if it doesn't say a "new" animatronic is possessed it's very likely the ghost has repossessed the previous animatronic or one that has already been possessed once that night. hope this helps:)
