The LEAST their family could do is provide scholarships and funding to universities.
Scholarships for students yes, funding to universities no! Remember that these universities are complicit. They're just as criminal as the family.
They do but its just a savior complex and a preformativ thing theyre doing, won't last long and its not helping much
@@amirashaweshify And this is what I don’t understand. She can’t grow or try to rectify the situation, without also being judged for that.
I wish that their fine for this was to pay the equivalent amount that they paid for their kids to get into these universities to fund scholarships or provide student loan assistance. I mean their family alone would have to make a $500,000 dollar donation, so imagine when you factor in all of the other people who were involved.
@@leuvenfra Agreed!
I do not like this being called a “mistake”. It is and was a CRIME.
Calling someone by their wrong name is a mistake. Answering a math problem on a test is a mistake. This was not an “oopsies”....
Exactly!!! And you can't tell me she didn't have a clue about what was going on. Posing for those pictures makes you part of the crime. She should have been put in prison or pay tremendous fines based on her networth that go towards scholarships based
The fact that there's different jails for rich people is just so shocking and above unacceptable but yet so normalized
yeah wtf jails should all be uniform . plain, boring & do some sort of physical labor like these assholes could be cleaning the ocean or something lol
So I know someone who is in that jail for a drug charge and they are very much not rich and they have not lived a privileged life. They told my family that once Aunt Becky got to the jail they did a lot to make it a nicer place to be like have yoga and get better food. Most of the inmates love having her there because it makes their lives better for a little while.
Rich people volunteering in impoverished communities like "I wanted to give my time, not just throw money at a problem."
Sorry, no. What those families need is, in fact, money.
THIIIIIIIIIIS!!!!! Rich people always (low key or even overtly) think that poor people are poor because they're bad with money. Poor people are so much better with money than rich people. They just don't fucking *have* any! Just give them the damn money! Don't micromanage these communities to force them to do things in a way that are morally acceptable to you in order for them to "earn" that money!
Exactly!🤟
It gives me very much girl on a mission trip who flies to Africa builds a house takes some pics with some poor kids reads them a Bible verse then flies back to her McMansion in Georgia talking about how “changed” she is
@@ClairaudienceGirl Yes! Spot-on.
Not entirely true, after 16 years of working together with a village in Ghana, it's not essentialy money that's needed in a raw form by giving people just money but infrastructure, education and help to help themselves. For example, we raised a lot of money to be able to build a school and pay a teacher, send children of the village to school and become a nurse, doctor, teacher and so on. Then build their own little hospital, with financial help yes but beforehand you needed people who could use the facility. The very first thing we did was built wells with clean water to improve the overall health of the people, just tossing money would not have helped them in the long term. Another thing was education in agriculture, paid by charity raised money but invested to raise their living standards by giving them more knowledge and be able to help themselves better on the long run. So I'm always kind of on the fence by saying just give money. Of course money is the main catalyst you need to change things but it should be wisely used to help get long term effects, not only short lived surface help
I can’t believe Olivia went on there and defended herself. “I did really well in school and tried hard”. Her videos clearly showed she didn’t care about school and didn’t study
LITERALLY she said herself she didn’t want to go for school she just wanted to go to parties like 😶 you don’t have to be in college to party
Not only that, clearly her grades weren’t good cause they had to pay to get her in lol
@@JustBrianna ummmm this statement isn’t accurate. In several videos Olivia mentioned that she arrives late to high school and didn’t show up a lot. Olivia didn’t try in high school clearly.
@@JustBrianna that’s kinda makes it worse “ I tried so hard 🥺😖 but I couldn’t get in so I got my parents to bribe my way in 😭😩 “ likeeeee she should have just stayed at her house and stfu💀💀
@@madisondaniel4124 lol not debating you on that 😂. But I think that happens to even the average person. Just because you give it your all doesn’t mean it would be good enough for every university you apply to. She just had shady parents with money to ensure she got a spot she didn’t deserve 🥴
Her charity work screams “don’t look at my white privilege.... praise me for my white savior complex”.
And if she didn’t do charity work? What then?
Yeah I completely think that her money is worth way more than her time and idk why she would go out of her way to tell people how she didn’t give money to those Children
her pr team her acting like a privilege woke girl white
I think there was a part where she said she basically did it to make herself feel good
@@juliekennedy9891 it's great she's doing charity work, BUT the way that she spoke about it and framed herself screameddd white savior complex.
The fact that she didn’t think it was a problem at first just shows the morals that family has.
No, it shows the horribly elitist and pay-your-way culture and social class that the family is involved in.
Exactly.
@@juliekennedy9891 Being involved with it is an example of the family’s morals
@@sourgreendolly7685 yes..what lmao?? Your comment didn’t further the point. The issue is that the disgusting, elitist system of the US allows this behavior to continue. This family is definitely not the only one in the top 1% of the country to do something as vile as this. And THAT is why she thought nothing was wrong at first. She then went on to explain how she realized it was fucked up to think that way...so at least recognize her effort to understand. You don’t have to forgive her but holy shit, she’s not responsible for income disparity entirely, she grew up in a society that’s favored these people for way too long
“My parents wanted to give me what they had”
You were born a millionaire... you didn’t even need to go to college in the first place
Ikr and her parents didn't even go to college! It was her parents dream not hers... she was doing very well before the bribery came to light.
Exactly, she just wanted to be an influencer. I’m pretty sure you don’t need a college degree for that.
Maaaan, I watched a Shallon Lester vid on this whole thing and she made such a good point. Olivia should have just advocated for herself and said “hey I’m doing really well right now, my career is going amazing and I’m doing what I love, I have amazing sponsors and I’m really happy where my life is at” but no, she wanted to be “college Barbie” now that she’s bored with being “CZcams Barbie” 😬😳🙄😆😆😆 Olivia Jade is bland and basic as they come and I have absolutely no sympathy for them.
It I had a dollar for every time I yelled “YAS GAMMY!!!” during that interview I would have enough money to fraudulently get my child into USC lol
Top tier comment
Gammy is legit a hero!
gammy tried her best to spill out all of her frustration (our frustration, tbh) without being actually rude and cruel and i applaud her for that... she’s a better woman than me! i probably would have humiliated her
she really said what we were all thinking lol
👀
She took another student’s spot in college that someone earned. I have no sympathy for them.
TBH it makes more sense to get a trade rather than be saddled with the debt from USC and unable to find a job anyway. Those people were spared.
Second chances are earned, not automatically given. Telling people you're ready for a second chance isn't going to cut it lol
See also: no one owes you a first chance, so don’t expect a second- you’re lucky to get either.
Omg this so much.. her saying « I deserve a second chance » is such bull.
True
Shes clearly used to everything being given to her
Olivia is sorry because she was caught, exposed and humiliated. She was very well prepped by her PR team.
No doubt
I just wish they just let Gam (Adrienne) take over the entire interview cos she was the only who was saying what we were all thinking.
Also congrats on the Audible sponsorship. You deserve it x
YESSSS i 100% agree. i felt her frustration through the screen and agreed with her
I wholeheartedly agree when you say you'd rather, "make their pockets hurt," than send them to jail. It's just a shame because fines mean nothing to people with that kind of money
Exactly. Losing your money is not comparable to losing your freedom in any way
I read that somewhere in Europe, maybe Norway, fines are given based on your income. I can't remember where I read it or which country it was talking about, but I think it's absolutely genius! It's not fair that fine amounts are set in stone. A $500 fine could destroy one family's Christmas and be chump change to another family. I think there should be a set minimum amount, but when a wealthy person gets a fine it should be high enough for them to feel it financially, it should make them think twice and not want to do it again like it does for the rest of us. I think that's part of the problem. It's not so much that they think they're Above the Law, they just know they can afford to buy their way out of it, unlike most people
Here's what I feel would be a good solution
Since the crime was bribery and fraud to get your child into college they could get fined per rejection of people who could have had Olivia jades spot as in they pay the tuition fee so like say the fee was $120,000 then they would pay $120,000 per person rejected
I wish their reputation was actually ruined, as it should be. That plus fines would be a more appropriate punishment, it just doesn't sit right with me that Olivia or her parents can come on television and act like it was an Oopsie
For someone like Lori Loughlin, the whole APPEARANCE of having had to go to prison is bad but the true price she will pay is always having it be known that she now has the earned title of convicted felon.
as someone who tried for two consecutive years to get into a university, i really don't care about olivia jade's side of the story. i had to deal with depression, anxiety, as well as financial issues even when applying for universities. it's nice to see that someone held up a mirror to how incredibly privileged she is, and i hope she actually goes forward helping the underprivileged financially
honestly all these rich people should be doing is speaking with their dollar.
you wanna show growth? *redistribute* babyy
The way I threw my head back and cackled at “and her dad, who’s NOT uncle jesse” GOODBYE 🤣
Uncle Jesse would never do something like this
I’m totally out of this loop, who’s Uncle Jesse?
@@Grace-ez2ot from the show Full House. Her mom played Aunt Becky who was married to the character Uncle Jesse.
No, her dad's the Target Mossimo. Also a MAGA type too.
Hannah is saying what we’re all thinking!
this here is the definition of privilege. only celebrities and influencers can get away with literally taking opportunities away from other students, and then be written off and forgiven by most (not all ofc)
This!!!!!!
@@daniellecheek6564 like a student from a struggling family could’ve gotten accepted instead for like a full ride- but no olivia jade was
Amen. The possibility of social upward mobility is what makes every blue collar worker get up in the morning. Every single mother out there fighting for her child to have it better one day. These 4 (yes rich smiths as well) are spitting in every american face with this video.
Exactly when this story first came out, i was explaining it to my grandmother and my mum picked a fight and said 'other people were involved too' Wow that makes it alright then apparently. She also defended Ellen and even tried to defend Harvey Wiesten (i think i spelt that wrong) and she still gets confused of why i walk away whenever the topics come up
I think the interview was a PR move so she could say how sorry she is and move on to continue her influencer life
Why is there even such a thing as "rich people jail"? Everyone should be equal in jail
I was 17 when the scandal news broke and I was PISSED, being 18 is not an excuse for taking advantage of the admission system and screwing over people who should have gone to USC in her place 🤜🤜
amanda (amandabb) said it, adrienne said it, pretty much every black girl not in the sunken place has said it: why did olivia jade feel the need to go to three black women for her redemption arc? she could have gone to anyone else, but she chose red table talk? why?
jada didn’t mention the fake rowing practice pictures and went way too easy on olivia jade, whereas she was tougher with jordyn woods. maybe because jada was projecting? maybe because we’re conditioned to be more “forgiving” to white women?
i don’t know.
i have too many thoughts on this situation to properly and coherently articulate them right now.
EDIT: when i mentioned jada projecting, i was referring to both her class privilege and wanting to help her children in that way, and her “entanglement” with august alsina.
while the situation with jordyn woods and tristan thompson was different, i have to wonder if jada was harsher with her during her red table talk because it reminded jada of her own “entanglement” with august alsina. it’s different because tristan is a serial cheater while jada and will were separated when she entered a relationship with august.
i still have too many thoughts on this situation to properly and coherently articulate them, but i hope my clarification helps some.
What about my girl Kenya?! 😀
I was also upset that they didn’t elaborate more on what they actually did it seemed like Olivia kept using the word “donate” to lessen what was done when they didn’t donate anything they just straight up cheated
Jada went too easy because she knows she’s used her class privilege to help her kids get further in life and doesn’t want to seem like a hypocrite. They may be black but they ultimately have more in common with Olivia and her parents than they do us.
Olivia been watching too many movies with the Magical Negro trope 💀 Someone above me said it well too, that Jada is probably guilty of using her privilege to support her family as well. She’s way too sympathetic to Olivia, almost felt like they were justifying her parents actions at some points. Gross.
jada was so incredibly frustrating to watch. i think she saw herself in olivias parents as someone who would do that for her children had they wanted to go to college so she went way too easy on the girl. so frustrating
Your college admissions essay can’t be changed if you’re the one submitting your application. Clearly she wasn’t filling out her own college applications. To me that is clearly her admitting guilt.
Willow looked like she wanted to punt Olivia the entire time 😭
“and her father, who’s not uncle jesse” 😂😂😂

Wow hi trinh, I didn't expect to see you here! I love your videos :))

My heart twerks when I hear the intro song.
I thought I was the only one 🤣🤣
Sameeee
It is a really good intro song lol
Lmao same!
I was literally twerking in my kitchen listening to that 😂😂😂😂
A lot of people were saying they made this discussion about race when the real issue is rich privilege which I agree with in this situation.
Absolutely
I actually think they hit the nail of the race issue of this situation. Poor white parents who lie to help their kids get into good schools don’t get as much time as poor black parents. I mean it’s the USA, race plays in basically everything 🤷🏾♀️
its londa Right! If it was the Smith family instead of Olivia’s family that got caught up in this scandal, they would’ve been canceled so much harder!
I understand both of your points and I do agree that this probably would have been received worse if the famous person was black. But I just think the scandal as a whole has nothing to do with race but economic privilege. Because a black person who was that rich would also be able to pay for their kids to get into college.
I mean this in the best way: you talk like an essay. Like your transitions and sentence structure. I love it lol
It made me so mad that they just glossed over the rowing pictures like they didn't happen

@@ella.exe3 actually I just heard it from my parents. I didn't realize he had said it 😂
She did not learn anything. I loved Adrienne! If it wasn’t for Adrienne they would have made it soooo easy for her.
yes
No, honey. I was 17 when i found out about the scandal. I knew damn well how terrible this was. She stole someone else's deserving spot in college. I'd be pissed
You're such a level headed, empathic commentator while still holding those you talk about to a high standard and seeing thorough their BS and I think that's amazing.
She constantly yells, calls people gross and disgusting for no reason at times and calls them fucking idiots, you really think thats level headed?
I love smokey but sometimes her arguments become unbearable since she screams and just offends anyone and anything.
@@monica195 what are you talking about? When has she yelled and screamed and called people fucking idiots? I've never heard her go off like that. She calls out crappy people who do crappy things... not sure whats offensive about that.
@bunnie bun I mean I'm sure she's equally against that. She can't talk about everything. But I'm sure you could recommend she talk about it and she might!
@@monica195 clearly we disagree. I think when she gets like that it's perfectly reasonable. Like calling gabi demartino "fucking stupid."
@@JojoDrawings to be fair gabis case wasnt “tea” or drama necessarily. she did something incredibly illegal and put others in danger.
So incredibly privileged. Olivia didn’t really mention at the table about how on her vlogs she used to say how she was only at school to party and literally said she didn’t care about school at all! I feel like after TWO YEARS have passed, this was all Olivia had to say? Ughhhh
Yet I got into a competitive law program on my good grades but didn’t study at all or take it seriously myself. No other kid using college as a time to party is having that normal behaviour used against them in a global-wide character assassination. I just want to know she’s unlearning her bad parenting.
Because she’s the one whose parents lied and scammed her in. It’s very simple why she disgusts us.
It doesn't seem like she has a lot to say about anything, ever. I never heard of her before the scandal but I'm baffled by her prior success as an influencer because she seems astoundingly dull, like I legit cannot imagine anything coming out of her mouth that I'd actually be interested in hearing.
@@jaclynmccosker u rlly think we're gonna believe you weirdo? Quit lying to try and prove a point
Olivia is certainly not my cup of tea and I dont think she should have ever posted that video but this is a completely normal 18 yr old thing to say... I know many people who have said things like that and if they didnt say them with words they definitely did in their actions.. I really hate to defend this girl because she is bratty and entitled but come on now.
To Miss Olivia Jade: first chances are always deserved. SECOND chances however, are earned.
whyyyyy didn’t they mention her posing for the rowing photos?
Gam voiced everything I felt as a black person in 2020 when it comes to issues like these and I appreciated that. I wish more black people had a platform; the representation is so important
You're right about the representation, but this was about financial privilege, it was about money. Yes, Olivia Jade 100% is the epitome of white privilege, but this was Financial. I found it a little odd that everyone kept talking about privilege when Willow Smith had a record deal at 10 years old and an acting career at 7 because of financial privilege. White Privilege should absolutely be a topic, but the focus was on the college Scandal, it just threw me off to see all of these privileged people talking about privilege
@@industrialover but in financial privilege, there's also white privilege. White privilege doesn't negate the financial kind but the smiths wouldn't have had as many opportunities before they made it big, simply for being black. Race plays a big role in how people experience privilege and to what degree they have to work to get there.
@@AJ-xt9wj It does. But for the Smith's children and their children you wouldn't be as accurate. It is a money thing a nd you have to get that in this situation and ones similar to it.
exactly

My first grandchild is due March 30th and she's biracial, I've been thinking a lot about all of this and trying to educate myself the best I can, but I don't know that I can if that makes sense. I don't understand how people treat other people badly based on something as ridiculous as skin color, I don't understand how it's relevant and I raised my children that way, thank God. Just thinking about what my grandchild may go through and how I won't be able to sympathize with her is upsetting

Adrienne's face the whole interview was ME. I was like.... I don't care right now during a pandemic (well I did enough to watch it🙃)
“Doing meditations and crafts” sound like a vacation I could use. That rich people jail sounds like a vacation to me.
She disgusts me, the amount of PRIVILEGE ugh
The word disgusting perfectly describes her and her family
Same I want to feel bad for her since she's young and dosen't have much experience but then again she'll have more money and influence then most of us ever will... So I can't feel bad for her, hopefully, she'll fade into irrelevance and leave us alone! 😾😾
"Nobody cares about the Olivia Jade redemption arch right now." Hahaha. True.
I feel like when you turn 18 you don’t magically become mature. For rich people, their parents handle getting them in University. I think she just went along with whatever her parents said she must do like every rich kid and trusted that everything will be fine because her parents are handling it.
As someone with a PhD and intimate knowledge of the academy, the Olivia Jade situation reflects of the priorities of the COLLEGE. Institutions of education have become corporatized and they're about making money and having large endowments in order to make college ever more like an all inclusive resort, to appeal to more students and justify tuition hikes- and also in part to fund research. COLLEGE IS A BUSINESS, and it's focused on making money, securing grants and receiving funding and donations from wealthy alumni.
It is well documented that funding towards faculty and the quality of education have stagnated, while funding for gratuitous administrative positions and recreational programs for students have dramatically increased. Olivia Jade's parents took advantage of a broken college system that cares more about their endowments than producing highly competent graduates.
Not to mention that I've heard thousands of students talk about the appeal of parties and freedom, not the academics. Thats a common position. And seeing Olivia Jade get lectured on privilege by women who are incredibly privileged to have a large platform and an abundance of financial resources that places them in the top 1% is embarrassing and hypocritical. This obsession with privilege and admitting one's shame is in as much a trivial topic as Olivia's return. No one chose the position in which they were born, and lecturing individuals about their lack of guilt towards conditions they didn't chose is as unproductive as thinking the world cares about one's reputation.
Admitting one's privilege and playing the oppression olympics is not productive, it does not create a better society, it just strokes the egos of people who call out others for failing to "recognize their privilege" and the people who show performative guilt about their lucky circumstances. It's a shallow ego game that lacks nuance and does nothing to build a better society.
But I fully agree, the justice system is backwards and favours the wealthy who can afford better litigation. I don't feel bad for her parents who are serving time. But the colleges who put money before morals and education is ultimately to blame.
COULD NOT AGREE MORE

She really said “I’m not here for pity” during an interview that was made to have people pity her and attempt to redeem her like...as a Black woman...I can’t
And yet, the women who host the show allowed her to come on. And I guarantee you that this was set up by a PR person. She wouldn’t have the education or experience to know how poorly this would go.
this is a racial issue and saying otherwise is racist on your part. this is about rich people privilege, not what people privilege.
@@Julie86Mac you know it can be both, right? She has certain privileges afforded to her because of her wealth AND her skin color. If this was a Black teenager and their parents did the same thing? It would be a totally different situation. We’ve seen it. For example, a Black woman faked her address to ensure her kid went to a better public school. A lesser crime than Olivia’s parents. Her jail time? 5 years. Olivia’s mom is going to prison for two months. It’s ignorant for you to say that this is only a wealth problem and not also about race. It’s called intersectionality and it exists heavily in this situation.

A good way to truly apologize and repent would be using all that money to put someone through school who actually deserves it .
The sheer amount of privilege that girl has makes me want to rip my hair out
As someone who’s been arrested before for non-violent drug offenses I really appreciate you bringing up how unfair the justice system is. I definitely got let off hella easy because I’m white, there were some women of color that I was in jail with who’d been there for half a year or more just waiting for trial and who hadn’t seen their grandkids go to school on the first day or be there for their birthdays. It’s tragic how many people sit in jails because they can’t pay the FEE to get out of jail.
Love you Hannah! So happy for you about Audible and your growth on YT!
She did tag news outlets in a photo of her giving the middle finger. All the talk about her wanting to grow is BS and ful of lies.
Honestly I’m more interested in her parents, their community and their thought process. They thought it was okay to raise a child that was so privileged and out of touch. Like, what kind of values do these rich people even have?

Omg to Smokey! An audible sponsorship! That’s huge! And you are so deserving!
This is the first time I’ve ever been excited for an Audible sponsorship 😂
YOU GOT YOUR AUDIBLE SPONSORSHIP!!! As soon as you said "disgustingly excited" I knew. Way to go Hannah!! So proud of you.
This is the exact video I was hoping for!!
Why am I suddenly reminded that rich people stick together? 🤨
New rule in our house, you have to crunk dance to the glowmas intro song every time it comes on. So now we’re crunking like 1-2 times a day 🤷🏻♀️ it’s a bop
Appreciate your content! Congrats on your Audible sponsorship. Also, love your hairstyle!
Man you DO NOT miss. You literally hit the nail on the head every time you speak on situations, like you literally describe exactly how i feel, so thank you!! Absolutely lovee your videos
It would be pretty hard to make Mossimo Gianulli’s pockets hurt.
Once I heard about this interview all I could think about was when you were going to put a video out about this 😅 your 2 cents are a million bucks imo
Congrats on your audible sponsorship girl!! ❤️❤️
Congrats on the audible sponsorship. I use it liiiiterally errday too ❤️
Unpopular opinion...but this girl is only 20...17 when the crime was committed. I was a raging alcoholic at 17. I made plenty of illegal decisions at that age. I'm on my hands and knees everyday, thanking the universe that I'm on a better path currently in my late 20s...She's just a kid. Have some damn compassion guys. Be angry at her parents...not her
It is an unpopular opinion. Everyone here thinks they are the frickin' pope
Congratulations on your recovery 💐💐💐
I have to ask myself how genuine she is about her realizing her privellege and accepting responsibility. If she didn't want to keep being an influencer would she still keep the same energy
Wait, a young person wants to keep her job? A well-paying, exciting, fun job? Yep, definitely proof that she is evil.
@@juliekennedy9891 You can want to keep your job while putting more emphasis on empathy. For instance, rather then focusing on the brand deals she lost it would’ve shown more growth for her to show more understanding about the people who she effected, such as the chances she took away from other deserving students.
It’s normal for her to be upset about brand deals, but because that was the first thing she brought up and the thing she focused the most on, does in fact show that she learned little in this situation. If she actually was genuine about realizing her privilege she would’ve:
a. did a formal apology on her own socials before going to the red table. Don’t you think it’s suspicious that she chose a place that she knew she’d recieve the most sympathy from? I say this because this show is know for redeeming celebs who’ve been through scandals
b. She would’ve put more emphasis on how she negatively effected others, not on how her own actions took away a brand deal from herself. You even see this in the way she’s shocked when the interviewers actually call her out! Like she was surprised that they’d actually put accountability on her.
c. She wouldn’t of put most of not all the accountability onto her parents, by saying shit like “I didn’t know it was bad”, like come on google exists if you have to fake posing for photos you should be somewhat suspicious on the motives.
Glowmas is making me so happy! You put in SO much work for this and it is very much appreciated!
CONGRATS on your AUDIBLE sponsorship!! 🎉🎉🎉
Its only a PR move PERIOD. A year from now we will see if she talk the talk and walk the walk😒😒😒😒
