I met Tom Bresh at the Chet Atkins Appreciation at Nashville. He was always jolly and happy and I believe he was the happiest when he was playing the guitar.

What a nice man. And much more talented than he thought. He spoke with me at a CAAS gathering a few years ago. I’m a nobody. He listened to me like I was a friend. He taught me how to play I’ll See You in My Dreams on CZcams. I thanked him. All musicians are spiritual. That’s not religion.

  • @terrystreetproductions1873

God gave Thom so much talent and he used it well. He was good at so many things but more than anything he was a Great Musican and Entertainer...better than probably 99% of those who called themselves Entertainers. Thom we thank you for using your God given talent to make this World a Better Place. Now you are up there withso many Friends and Heroes pickin your Hearts out. REST IN PEACE THOM!!!!

I'da expect more celebrities showing up at Thomm's funeral, I recognized Ed Pennington and John Knowls, but that's about it. A nice gesture, though, sending him on his journey with his thump pick on his thumb. I cherrish the memory of Thomm commented on my Facebook video once, I admired him a lot, he was a wonderful musician and a fine person. A true Country Gentleman. May he rest in piece.

I was lucky enough to participate in a recording session in Nashville with the great Thom Bresh. The producer brought me in cause he thought a 'jazz' bass player was what he wanted. The other 'country' players didn't seem to care for me, but Thom was the nicest, most generous musician, as well as being a monster player. He made me feel welcome and belonging, just because he was a great human being and a great artist. RIP maestro 🖤

This is a beautiful service and tribute to Thom Bresh. I wish I could have been there. I was honored to be his recent agent and became his friend. He made me laugh and enjoyed listening to his stories. He was so talented. I know he is in Heaven rejoicing and no more pain. I'm glad he shared his faith in Jesus with me. I will greatly miss him. Love you, Thom!

What a heartfelt tribute on a gorgeous day in the beautiful state of Kentucky along with special friends and fellow guitar pickers. I think the 'Breshman' was smiling approvingly from above. I never got to meet him but felt like I knew him from his many TV performances and online 'Bresh TV' videos I faithfully watched. I loved his dad's guitar picking along with Thoms and admired them both very much. RIP Thom Bresh.

I took lessons back in the late 60's when I was 7 years old and was taught thumb picking from a Chet Atkins aficionado. During that time I would watch the Porter Wagner show with Tom's daddy Merle playing cannonball rag. Been following Thom for a long time now on CZcams. Thank you so much for this tribute to a man that I revere and admire.

Those of us who only 'knew' Thom from his videos can appreciate it and enjoy the sentiment so much. Truly a blessing that will remain for as long as you might imagine. The final song, 'I'll See You In My Dreams' brought tears ,,, I can't think of anything that could possibly be more fitting.👍(I wish the emoji had a thumb pick on it)

Ron, thanks for posting this!! 👍🙏 I met Thom and saw him perform twice around 2001-2002 up here in Bismarck North Dakota, where he played concerts for the Fireman's fundraiser benefit.. both were memorable shows! and I really loved his humor! And I think he may have got a standing ovation at one of the concerts if not both?! For many years up till then ,I was mostly a rock guitar player and singer along with some jazz, and was mesmerized by the Merle Travis style of guitar playing! Thom really inspired me to learn some of his and his dad's style! I could hardly believe it when I actually learned how to play it , from one of his teaching videos and learned his and Travis's arrangement of ,I'll see you in my dreams! Thanks Thom and RIP🎶🎶🎶🎸🎸🎸🎸🙏

I'm from NZ and got interested in thumb picking over the covid era . I had not heard of Tom's passing some months back and feel quite sad about it . I have watched a lot on you tube about him . He seemed like such a great guy and for me his guitar playing was the best . His rhythm and timing ..putting down the grooves , as he called it is the right kind of stuff to my ears ! Will be going over his tutorials in the future to see if I can get some grooves going !

Ron, Thanks so much for posting this. One of the biggest musical thrills I have ever had was when Thom gave me a nice compliment on my version of Guitar Rag on CZcams several years ago. After that I subscribed to his channel and watched every video he ever posted. I finally met him a couple years later. Before I went see his show I went arrowhead hunting and found a perfect arrowhead. I gave that to him after his show and thanked him for the nice compliment.

@@ronwade117 I totally understand. Very fitting for him to be buried next to Travis. On a side note: many years ago Merle Travis was scheduled to come perform at a festival in our town, along with another country and western performer. My dad was quite excited that he was going to see Merle Travis! Well, unfortunately Merle was sick and wasn’t able to come. I know my dad was disappointed, but the other performer put on a good show, which helped a little bit. The other performer was the late Dottie West.
