- Our second day, we are just trying to make it out without getting snake bit. Unbelievable rough hike for the both of us! We barely made it out! Absolutely exhausted. I thought I was in shape and ready for this but, daym!

That really brought back memories. I was a FAC (pilot) so I had it far easier than most but it still sucked. Massive respect for the guys on the ground. Aka in the "s**t". The worst part was coming home. I wasn't expecting the reception we got.
I remember growing my hair back as fast as I could to rejoin society.
Most of us kept our veteran status a secret up until The Gulf War when public opinion finally began to change.
The first time someone thanked me for my service, I about fell over.
It's still nice to hear, much better than being spit on, having garbage thrown at us while being called "baby killers".
Once again, the guys that truly deserve the thanks were the ones on the ground. Especially the ones who didn't come home.

I noticed that you didn't bring hot sauce. Without it you have to actually taste your C-rats.
Oh and I thought C-rats were bad. I tried an MRE a few years back. The first thing I tried looked, felt and tasted exactly like toilet paper! Even hot sauce can't fix that. I threw the rest away.
