Hello Vahgraphy, It so surprising to hear, for so many year people have said Nikon should get in to Video. I think the Nikon acquiring RED is great. It bring both new technology and expertise to Nikon, and just add to the core for creating images in a broader way.

Not sure why there would be negative press on the merger. Nikon needs to be in the video space.

Gear gear gear.....well mastering and understanding a camera is still difficult for some people.
So this guy walks into the camera shop with his Z9 and complaints that he can not activate the built-in flash. Yeh that says enough.
The thought of using an I-Phone for professional photography sounds appalling. If I hired a photographer for a wedding, they better bring a real camera. LOL
I was shocked to see this. The photographer even had a phone rigged up to an external battery pack lol
I will stay with Nikon. I am using the older D610 and D750 camera's. Still getting awesome pictures without spending too much money.
I have stayed with Nikon since 1971 .. There is only one Brand for cameras and lenses>> N . But Canon makes awesome Printers and Sony makes exquisite TV's
the pictures is all that counts. it took me so long just to get used to an evf. I still enjoy using my DSLRs for pro work.
Red Nikon backlash? So what? The 35mm F1.8z is alright. The 50 is a much better purchase, though.

@@Vahagraphy no, i have not. it makes no difference to me. just as technics has continued to thrive without rebranding from the parent company, so will red.
I wonder how much those photographers using iPhones or other phones are getting paid for the shoot?
and the client just rolls with it. Now I get why some clients asks photographers what cameras they will be using. lol
You might be surprised. There are a number of cell phone photographers making good money in healthy markets. It's kind of like the "Lomography" and toy camera movement in the 90's. There is a demographic that sees an iPhone as minimalist and the lights and big cameras are unnecessary and ostentatious. So they pay a premium for that hipster appeal of hiring an artist instead of a camera. Right or wrong, it's happening, our opinions change nothing.
I see people with all the gear but marketing themselves as "natural light photographers" as if that's more wholesome than crunchy granola, compared to those old school heavy hitters with all their gear and lights. I figure it just means they never learned gttp use flash effectively and ate trying to justify their ignorance as a market advantage.
Again, what matters is results, but the consistent underperforming and sketchy natural light results are in fact impacting customer perception of the industry as a whole. It will circle back around, it always does, but each time the market is a little weaker and a little less trusting and confident. I feel like professional cell phone photographers are doing the same. To an industry that is daily getting watered down because of consumer perception that everyone has a camera, so professionals are no longer necessary, or they are just a niche application now.
Buy older cheaper Nikon - they are still brilliant. You might even prefer the experience to the new stuff - I know I do.

The Red fanboys seem unaware of the potential for Nikon to dominate the cinema optics industry. It is evident that many individuals in the cinema industry are unfamiliar with Nikon, which may explain their nervousness.
its like the mainstream media in the US. The news is not news here. some roll with whatever they here on MSNBC or CNN.
lol the bullshit useless drama continues. There is no progress in the quality of images produced rather there’s always progress in the drama and hysteria that is created. I am sure there will be 6 to 10 hour live streams on this one if they have not already been started yet.
So true. Lot of hate and mob mentality going on in this community. that said there are good people but those that hate a spread falsehoods are toxic.
