- In this video I review a combo of the amazing retro Nikon Zf mirrorless camera and combine it with a 15 year old Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8G VRII lens and FTZ adapter.
Watch this video and see just how deadly this camera lens combo is.
The Nikon Z F is an amazing retro styled mirrorless camera released not to long ago and the Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8 G VRII lens is an older F mount Nikon released in in 2009.
How will this lens stack up to new Nikon tech? The results will shock you.

I really can't say anything bad about old lenses, even sixty year old ones as long as they are quality lenses they always will be. It's just good glass 😎 that makes good vibes 😉🕺
The ZF is still THE BREAKTHROUGH camera of 2023 - 2024
I use Zf for bird photography... Works great with 180-600mm and TC1,4.
No more Tesla?
I have both, the Z and the G version one. The FL (the last version F mount is the same as the Z. The older G lens still works well, most people won't notice the difference. The Z version is significantly better especially indoors or at night and it is sharper when pushed. Sports I push lenses to the max. The 80-200mm beats the G and VRII in sharpness but is slower focusing. The G lens has more vignetting because it was designed for the D2 series and it has a smaller barrel. I would buy the G lens it's still a good lens.
I haven't used this lens in two years since I haven't required it, but I don't intend to sell it because I anticipate using it again in the future. Despite claims of improved picture quality with current optics, I remain skeptical of lenses that claim to give superior image quality. The new lens has improved focusing and imagine stabilization; otherwise, everything is inferior, including image quality; that's right, I said it, and I'm not backing down since I have plenty of people to back me up.
No focus breathing when you zoomed with this lens.
I use the exact same lens on a Z8 every week, and where I was getting 20% of the images out of focus (very low light) with an 850 now I get absolutely no images where the focus is not spot on. That lens has a second life on a z body.
I'm still using a wonderful Nikon D780, Vahagn! I love it too much.. Anyway I think my next body will be the Z8.. But I'm not going to sell the D780. Never! Big hug! Domenico
I thought you'd be shooting the Zf with an AI lens, now that's old! LOL. Great video and photos, nevertheless.
Love these tests with old lenses. Your footage always looks great!
Incredible!! Thank you for pairing these two. Let’s see more.
Love your channel! You definitely keep it REAL! Was watching "I cussed out a wedding client because he wanted to me to use" again for "s**t's and giggles" and after 2 years it still makes me laugh! I do buy prime gear, but we know it is the "loose nut" looking thru the viewfinder that matters most! Much Respect!
❤ V, old glass is royalty ❤
❤ ❤love this video wow more of these bro learned so much! Old is good and cheap!!!
These are my favorite kinds of videos 😊 keep making this kind of content 👏 👌
super nice footage
Nice headbanger video on a classic lens Vahagan. I still have/use my 70-200mm f/2.8 VR II on the D780, Z6 and Z8. My version still delivers great images, no issues with the motor and reads to a full 200mm after focus breathing. In my opinion, this is lens can still hold its own adapted to a mirrorless body.
Awesome 15 year old lens on the Nikon ZF camera, very good images. Great video!
Excellent lens! Loved the Lambo!
