WHAT IS EAR WAX:
Earwax is a build up of cerumen, sebum, dead cells, sweat, hair and foreign materials like dust. Earwax is a normal physiological substance that protects the ear canal and the cerumen actually has antibacterial/antifungal properties.
HOW TO REMOVE EAR WAX:
You can pick a small bottle of olive oil ear drops from your pharmacy which will come with a dropper. The usual dose is 2-3 drops in your effected ear twice a day but please follow the instructions that come with it so you administer the drops properly for maximum effect. Now once you administer the drops gently press your tragus a couple of times and this will help olive oil go further into the ear and spread evenly.
The key to getting results when using olive oil is to use it everyday while you have an earwax build up so put a reminder on your phone so you don’t forget. Use it for about 2 weeks and during this period you should see lumps of earwax fall out of your ear especially at night time when your lying down. You may wake up and see wax on your pillow case or just around your ear, this is normal and shows that it's working.
There are also other drops you can get from your pharmacy so always speak to your pharmacist first so they can check your symptoms properly and advise the best course of treatment for you.
Please do not use your fingers or any objects like cotton buds to remove earwax. This will push it in and make it worse.
WHEN TO SPEAK TO YOUR GP PRACTICE:
• If your ear hasn't cleared after 5 days
• Your ear is badly blocked and you can't hear anything (you can get an infection if it isn't cleared)

I remember when I was 14 I had a blocked ear for like 3months
Then one day while playing football in an open field, I got hit with the ball really hard on the side of my face of the unaffected ear, and it just unblocked instantly. The feeling was like, opening a can of monster or something, I never was so happy getting hit

Omw! I'm 52 and every 10 to 15 years I will wake up one morning deaf in the one ear. Off to the Dr and have my left ear sprayed with whatever it is they use. Always takes a few seconds and always a tiny piece of wax that comes out. It's Sunday. Woke up with this blockage. Listening to this with one ear 2 years after you've posted the video. To the kitchen I go and did what you said. Nothing. Went outside to hang up the washing. Back inside the house and guess what? My ear is unblocked and I can hear!!! Took approximately 3 minutes. Thank you so much for this. I felt off balance/like I have vertigo the whole morning, but now I can go work in my garden and enjoy the South African 🌞 without feeling like I'm going to fall over! Ear pain in left ear for weeks. Some days it was driving me crazy. Applied single drop of oil containing tea tree/olive oil twice a day for last 3 weeks. Sunday past I feel something in my ear after a sneeze and there was a piece of hard wax almost 1/2 inch. Ear wax build up for a while. Now the ear pain is gone. What a relief!!

I've been having ear wax build up for a while now(usually involving a partial ear blockage for a couple days at a time) and I've (rather foolishly) been trying to pick it out with my fingers since it's so annoying but watching this video has helped me realize that there are better ways and that time is on my side so hopefully that will help me change my habits for the better. Plus the tips sound helpful if I ever feel the need for a better solution.

Trick or tip is to put a little olive oil in the cap of the olive oil bottle. Pour it all out. Then it will act as a "droplet". The cap will literally drip tiny drops of whats left from in the cap. Saves you a trip to the store. Also it does work!

So then what treatment you did and what was the result ?
So never had symptoms but I’ve struggled with hearing for many years (40 y/o). Put it down to lots of loud music in my 20s. Ear buds always came out clean so assumed no wax. Then my wife happened to look out of interest after we got oil drops for our beagle, and my right ear had think black gunk in it. Currently starting oil drops and ear buds are no more! Thank you!!

Use coconuts oil it should be pure not peratute oil.coconut oil works use twice two 4 drops as u feel full.follow the same process as he told. Oil works

My ear was blocked for about 4 weeks. The first week, I watched this video, which in no uncertain terms said not to stick anything foreign into my ear. I didn't see a doctor, but I ended up relieving it myself yesterday with a Q tip. I wish I had done so 4 weeks ago.

The olive oil is good, but here’s a tip. Put around 2-3 drops of olive oil in your ear before you sleep. The next day, go to the bathroom and spray your ear with any sprayer. Then a load of earwax will come out. Your ear will feel cool, like cold cool. Yw :)

Thanks! This was really helpful. I use urea hydrogen peroxide drops when I start to experience pain/blocked ears but it's usually an uncomfortable experience. Hearing about olive oil may be a useful alternative I can use. Also pressing down on that one spot close to the ear is really useful! And thanks for reiterating about not putting anything down the ear. I'm one of those twats whos always been like 'yea but I'm different', but I think it's really useful to be told that it can just push more wax further down the ear, over the course of months when you probably aren't aware of it. Thanks again!

I got my ears impacted a few years back and went to a doctor for checkup. He gave ear drops to soften the hardened wax and was told to come back in a week iirc. Then he got the wax out by pouring in water and picking out the wax. Afterwards I could hear much clearer that loud noises made it hurt. 😅 So I put small cotton balls to lessen my hearing. Since then I have stopped using cotton buds and just use ear picker very carefully when I clean my ears.

Tip: you don't have to let it fall out on your pillow... You can put a little bit of cotton wool in the pinna so that the wax falls out onto the cotton wool... That way you still get results.. you aren't shoving anything into your ear and you don't have a messy waxy pillow

Hi, thank you for the information about ear wax. I have a question - why do I feel itching in my ears ? Is it because I have ear wax deep inside ? I'm always using cotton buds mostly because my ears itch and hardly ever see wax on it. And I used to have a lot of wax.
that's an allergic reaction. keep notice of what you ingested before you ears started itching. i get it a lot in the summer times in relation with hay fever. there are certain foods and drinks that give me similar reactions.
This might even be an ear fungus, especially if dead skin comes out. I had it and it sucked.
have bought one of those hearing aids from Walgreens till my ear comes in again. will try this when I get home

Ear has been clogged for 2 days

2 days later i was aggressivley rubbing my ear and when i opened it i could hear again 💀 Did the same with the other and i can hear so much clearer now, definitely do this and just wait patiently 👍🏾👍🏾

@@SuperHitman55 Put olive oil in your ear and tilt your head so it goes all the way in, the next day rub the side of your ear (open and close it) and the ear wax should be disintegrated enough for you to hear again

doctor, thank you for the advice, I as a 16 year old, am very afraid to put anything into my ear, Once i had an ear wax build up and terrible pain in the right ear. This was because i genuinely never cleaned my ear. Then i had to visit a doc, and he gave an oil. but after the infection was ok, my parents always adviced me to use cotton buds in ear and those indian steel small objects with an extended end to force the wax to come out , But since i was very afraid to put anything in my ear , even ater getting the infection, i didn't clean my ears or cleaned my outer ears with cotton buds of johnson coz that's the most reputed brand of baby care in india. But then i wanted tutorial to clean my ears and opened laptop, to come across your video. Thanks a lot. I hope there is no more build up of wax in my ear.

I cleaned my ear out with peroxide and I was like alright I’m gonna lie down and let it sit for 5 minutes.. I get up and the sound gets worse, couldn’t hear at all. He says push down on the tragus, I do it and and it works like a miracle. Thanks brother

When I was little I remember, whenever I had blocks ears, my grandma used to warm up some mustard oil with garlic over the stove. She would then cool it enough so it doesn't hurt and put a few drops in my ears every now and then until I'm better.
