If he had blocked that wind up and blast from 10 feet or so the puck 1) would have hurt and 2) would have went flying through past the red line and even the rangers blue line. Watch the defensemans stick, you will see the puck bounce a couple of times as it past him.

There were signs in this game of a poorly designed system where MTL leaves the points wide open all the time something they do all the time for the past 20 years..The difference however is that Mtl had several legit key role players that can score goals something they have lacked for many years since their 93 cup.IMO perhaps one of the most important aspects of a team is the scouting and manager and in case of late the coaching example Bergeron was a horrible coach.
MZTL has had the same lead scout for a very long time and he has not got the job done as well poor management means they keep pushing just hard enough to never truly be a cup contender but also never get a top draft pick.
This year looks to be the first in a very long time where they have a chance at the number 1 pick but sadly is there truly a GREAT player to be had at #1 the Crosby or Lemieux or Gretzky type player ...i don't think so.They did do a recent good job of securing draft picks but time has proven 2nd round picks almost never materialize into more than 3rd line players and even first picks need to be top 7/8 at worse.
Point being idk man but for us Habs fans it might be a VERY long time before a legit cup contender.I don't count those FAKE years where they had incredible luck to get to the finals because in those years they were never really a good team.
