In July 2020 Patrick from AirClips.com was invited to visit and interview DAT Founder and CEO Jesper Rungholm during a flight aboard his lovely Bell 206 Jet Ranger. Thereafter Patrick tried the passenger experience amidst the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic aboard a DAT ATR 72-600 from Billund to Bornholm Island. From there finally the AirClips team recorded a series of three full flights (to Copenhagen, back to Bornholm and on to Billund) using the full-scale cockpit filming setup. All five flight experiences have been combined into a massive DAT Ultimate Cockpit Movie, released for free at Movies.AirClips.com in two separate parts.
For all filming conducted in security restricted and/ or safety relevant areas, all required approvals are obtained well before our on-site work starts.
At AirClips.com it’s all about YOU! Thank you for being with us and for your loyalty. It’d great to have you on board! Now fasten your seat belts, please…

Also wanted to say much respect to a founder and CEO who isn’t afraid to get his hands dirty and clearly knows the nuts and bolts of the operation. I love the redesign of the interior, very classy.
I flew the MD series for 10 years at MidEx and LOVED them. A pilots airplane. We'd make the short run between MKE and ATW and would regularly pitch up to 25deg, shoot up to 12k, whip the ponies to about Fond du Lac and head down all in about 20 min! Left the MD series after MidEx went T/U and ended up flying the 757...another real rocket if needed! I'm homesick!lol!
I’m a private pilot coming up through my ratings :VFR, IFR, multi engine , etc
This is by far the most extensive coverage in the cockpit and visual experience with expertise as pilots.
I wish we see more like this in the U. S.
Excellent footage !
Flew the MD8 in the 80’s with Airtours. A really beautiful plane. Such fantastic Pilots xxxx
Jesper - "Here some idiot drove into the airplane, it's recorded #28". Love this bit👏👏👍👍😂😂.
Cabin Crew does an excellent teamwork : Fluent and clear communication, fast swap roles, concentration.
Awesome fights. The crew is too. They have one handsome and talented Captain as well.
"Some idiot drove into the airplane " lol, love it
Captain Joseph is legend founder, owner and a captain in his airliner!
I’m sure Captain Jesper will pass your message on to Captain Joseph ;)
DAT deserves to have success when they offer seats with so much comfort and leg space. I hope that they do well.
Jerry
With those seats . I need to check out DAT i live right by copenhagen airport . :-) , anyone els like me thinking i am not a aero nerd , but cant stop watching videos like this one ....thanks for upload .
Very hard plane to fly the landing was not easy for this experienced captain he said it was hard because aircraft was empty great work captain from the usa
By far one of my favorite aircraft of all time and actually it was my first aircraft ever to fly on as a kid from Connecticut to Florida to go to Disney World. It started my love for aviation and my journey to become a pilot.
Yet another fantastic movie from Airclips. I am halfway through this (it’s been so busy Patrick’s not been able to introduce the crew). Looking forward to the second half of this exciting plane/flight.
Really enjoying each and every of your fine comments, thank you 🙏🏻
Those Md80s are super arrows to climb, I had the honor to use these birds DC93, MD82, MD83 and MD90 like a passenger and it was really fantastic; watching this video i love that cabin seats of DAT. Beautiful video like ever Air Clips.
Oh that is nice how come that you tried them and which of those was your favourite?
Greetings from Patrick
Great relationship, Capt and First O work well together. The MD83 is a classic, Love the intense flows they perform. Thanks Air Clips.
Best walk-around ever! Obviously a proud hands-on owner.
The colours remind me of the departed Braniff Airline.
Airlines recommend that sear belts are used by PAX but the pilots...
The MD83 always tough in the flair especially under gross weight and a significant cross wind as here 24 knots gusting. The F.O. was doing his best but you heard the Captain tell him to button up his landing.
Fantastic Crew. Fantastic Plane❤️
Very interesting, thanks for sharing. Awesome job!
As a pilot, this video is pure art. Thank you -
Almost 2 hours into this video. This might be single handedly the best cockpit video of a md on yt to date. Thanks for sharing.
The cockpit is so far from the engines that its quietness is unbeatable
I fly the ATR 42/72-600. Seeing that 5,000 ft/min climb rate was 😳. Excellent video! Truly appreciate all the effort you put into putting together these masterpieces!
I remember traveling on AA's MD83s, when they were brand new. I was sitting in first and was amazed how quite it was. It kind of freaked me out. I kept wondering if the engines were running.
Probably the best cockpit video…and probably the best beer in the world were served in the sky over Denmark where it is brewed…🇩🇰 🇩🇰🇩🇰🇩🇰
I was really moved.
Greatest Video I've ever seen for Video Camera Setting and Editing, sound is good also.
What a great artistic Captain and First Officer's team work , good relationship and CRM, superb Captain's sence virtical profile managements (best timing adjust manipulating throttle and speed brake for the aproach fix altitude 2300ft and speeds) and manual hand flying and gradient smooth braking after touchdown.
I was really moved.
Very enjoyable . Super crew and CEO who are very generous with their time and who are prepared to take us along for the ride.
What a fascinating insight into the workings of the captain who was an inspiration and passionate devotee of the machine and company he had nurtured. Great people.👏👍
The best airplane, and a brillant crew, AMAZING
Great crew! That is a busy cockpit handled by two professionals.
Great video! I’ve flown A320s and 777s; by comparison the cockpit flows on this MD83 are so complex compared to what I am used to! Excellent work guys!
Thanks Pat for the wonderful ride on board this video , its was marvelous , very enjoyable thanks for the captain and his co pilot for being so kind to allow us to watch their operations and the rest of the crew , unforgetable , we can watch this video from the beginning and we can see this old aircraft model are being renew and upgraded by the engineers in every little bit and back in business maan , awesome , must be re set up their pilot training courses as well eh , maan I enjoyed being on board this fight were beautiful anyway thanks mate , cheers
Wow, what an amazing video and tribute to an awesome aircraft. When I was a more frequent flier, the MD-80 was so prevalent I used to think it was boring, "just another MD-80", although I did like flying on them as a bachelor because of the left side seating configuration. My first flight on an MD-80 was with PSA as a child, and I flew on them with numerous other airlines, (Alaska, American, and TWA for sure.) I also got a chance to fly with some PSA pilots on an MD-80 flight simulator as a 10 year old boy, so quite a history with these planes. Thanks for this great video!
I loved flying on the "Mad Dog's" over the years. I also remember flying many of the original DC-9's with Delta and TWA in the late 70's. A real treat though was getting a chance in the early 90's of flying on one of Northwest's really old DC-9-14's they acquired in the merger with Republic Airlines. The aircraft I flew on was one of a couple they had that accumulated over 100,000 cycles to the airframe.
Thanks Patrick - while I love the modern stuff (A220 my fave!) I also love and appreciate these classic aircraft and the people who fly them.
I love that plane, incredible pilots!!!
Been loving this channel since I found it recently, thank you so much for providing us such wonderful opportunities to see these videos.
Hopefully we´ll see this bird for a long time in future. I really like the DC9/MD80-series! Solid work with fantastic sleek design! Yeah!
Yes Patrick you are right the beautiful calm shell and airstairs. Definitely most beautiful iconic aircraft. First jet I ever traveled on .good job
Wow! That view of the “six pack” was amazing! Getting better every day AIRCLIPS!, thank you so much for the hard work and sharing it with us!
We’re not speaking about my fat lockdown belly here, are we...? 🤨
@@AirClipscom jajajajaja it’s all about the airplanes in this channel!
Fantastic movie. I will probably watch it again and again. The MD is my favorite aircraft, and even though I'm probably too late to ever fly it, I can at least use software on my own computer to simulate this beauty.
Top Top work!
Thank you very much! Cheers, Patrick
Very cool old Style Commander. 👍😎 Reminds me of the good old Days in the 90’s. 🛫🛬👨🏼✈️
What a brillant film‼️ Thank you so much that for. My absolute favorite airplane - sad it has already gone...
Good to see the Maddog still in service. They are far far behind now in term of fuel consumption but fuel is relative cheap now so it may make sense to still operate them depending of the business model of their operator. Long life to DAT and long live for their Maddog's.
This is a delightful video. The Danish are historically a great sea-faring people; No wonder they are also masters of the air! I love the esprit de corps of anything aeronautical. Hats off to DAT and AirClips!
Great Airplane and climb performance is amazing! Great video work. Alaska airlines almost destroyed the reputation of this plane with the flight 261 crash. Deadly maintenance shortcuts in lubricating/ replacing the jackscrew assembly for the horizontal stabilizer led to a catastrophic failure.
Superb hver gang! Always love watching your videos! Thank you for all your hard work! Have a friend who used to work as a maintenance engineer on the MDs at Stockhom-Arlanda back in the 80s and 90s and he used to take me along to watch a few C and D checks.
This aircraft has now exited the fleet and unsure of its fate. Thank you for showing how much unique character the Mad Dogs 🐕 possessed… Awsome :-)
Great show again, love to follow this channel. Enjoyed the flight with those experienced pilots!
This was one of your best videos Patrick, you do an amazing job and good thing those flights were short because your jump seat didn't look very comfortable, lol. Both pilots were like a well oiled machine, no shortcuts and very precise coordination and cockpit awareness. I believe the first officer is due for a promotion to Captain, if not with DAT, then with another airline looking for a highly skilled pilot. I think the CEO loves flying and keeps his head balanced by getting out from behind the desk and onto one of his airplanes. No doubt he can talk the talk from all angles within the industry. Again, thanks again Patrick for your dedication and sincere enthusiasm sharing these well presented videos to those of us who watch your channel.
The editing was with great timing and continuity. Thanks for your patience.
Very informative about the MD-83, thank you for sharing this video.
Oooouuuhh great video to watch whilst we fly less in Europe this time of the year. Great job, great crew and loved the full length video uploading oooouuuhh

Well-done mate. What a pleasure. Love flying with MD83
Simply perfect video. Loved every minute. Thank you!!
Another great video thanks to Airclips 👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿
I was on this plane from Aalborg-Denmark to Madeira on hollyday it was an amazing flight-Engines screaming- old fashioned interior. The pilot`s told that this was the most reliable machine to fly-you could fly into a bunch of birds nothing happend`s they just flew starit on????? Greetings from Denmark...
Amazing video but would loved to have seen some additional interaction with the crew esp since the aircraft is now retired... Would love to hear how much they enjoyed working with the plane 🙂🙂🙂
Those iconic Mirrors on the Dashboard. man, how I love the maddog 🙈
Thanks for this “all access” md-83 flight +!
Great show thanks for sharing …
Best of luck 🥂👍🏾
amazing footage, enjoyed watching this!
Fantastic crew fantastic classic airplane thanks for sharing great job
I love all your flight videos are so awesome
Petit voyage, court mais agréable en compagnie de 2 pilotes bien sympathiques
et d'un narrateur de Air-Clips qui énonce bien le sujet !
Merci beaucoup pour ce petit coeur ! Thank you very much for this little heart !
Absolutely brilliant.
another great crew , great flight very labour intensive, but fabulous no the less , thank you gentlemen. regards liz .
Definitely my favorite cockpit movie so far !
Klasse Video , toller Flieger. Gibt's nicht mehr viele . Danke u. schönes Wochenende für Dich
Danke Mathias, Dir auch!!
Love the MD-80’s
an odd request - I've been trying to find a clipboard like the one used at 23:57 for ages - does anyone know what it's called? It secures the page all the way around. Also, it's great to see a CEO still so involved in operations like this.
Watching from New Zealand! Keep up the great work AirClips!!!!
Cool! I'll be coming your way in a few weeks time!!!
Magnífico vídeo, he disfrutado de cada minuto. Felicidades
Whenever I see an MD-80 all I can think of is Alaska and poor jack screw maintenance, but I’ve always thought it was a very cool plane never the less. Great crew in this one and great video 👍
Well you got a point their but I think it is still a classic one :)
Real Jet Drivers. Thanks AirClips.
Headed to Venice from South Dakota in Feb, 2021. You're more than welcome to fly me to Denver so I can catch the Luft-something flight on leg 2. See you then ;) ;) Seriously, I love the Mad Dog, especially the engines: second only to the C-5A engines.
Great stuff. I think the best Clip yet. Question on flap 28 landing on last sector: was that to avoid the slight float on the previous arrival (due light aircraft and crosswind?) Congratulations on a superb production. 👍
man...comfy!! I'd fly with these guys for sure!
Very nice movie and amazing crew, well done!
Smooth flying and landings
I flew on this aircraft coming home after my tour in South Korea. Atlanta to Savannah on Delta 1993.
Many great memories of my flying career
Finally they realized how cramped the legspace was before 😂
Great flight . . . enjoyed it emmensly!
This is an excellent video. Well done!
Concerning the reversers: Are there rubber shock absorbers at the edge of the reverser air baffles, where they touch each other?
The checklists are exhausting! Doesn't leave much time for situational awareness. Interesting video though!
So these two MD83s once belonged to Sunways, Turkish airline now defunkt. First time I flew, in 1995 going to Turkey and back, was aboard this very plane, or its sister (it seems the same pair have been together for some time).
j'ai vue cette merveille a Grenoble en 2018, super avion,j'étais agent d'entretien pour l'aéroport GNB
Great video! as a television producer and director for over 30 years, I can tell you this is great! your pre-production paid off... The panning camera killed me! :) What are the icao codes for these airports? I want to do this flight in my Sim. It would be great if you put this information in the title or description...
Billund: EKBI - Aalborg: EKYT - Copenhagen: EKCH
Have a nice day like every day
FANTASTIC VIDEO !!!!
love the FO , evrytime he says Ohhhhh I think somthing is about to happen..
Just amazing
This is excellent
