What you should understand is that 1) his hairstyle and lack of hair is what you makes you see him as a 50 year old, and 2) the black and white film quality of the time also makes you perceive him as older. If he had his photo taken with an iPhone and he had a modern hair style, he wouldn't look this way. However, society is obsessed with age for some reason and we try to find ways to cope with our own aging such as comparing ourselves with another.

For me and probably for a lot of people, unless there's something very obvious, I just don't even think about the possibility. Seeing pictures like this makes it easier to spot, but I don't look at old pictures of anyone with the intent of looking for changes. I think I don't notice wigs unless they're obvious too.

This brought me back to many of my male coworkers in the 80’s having “plugs”. It was pretty obvious but I don’t judge. My son has benefited so well from more recent procedures. He lives in China and has had amazing results.

This lady had a face-lift in the 1920s I believe. There is quite a lot of motion picture footage of her as well as still photos.
You would present a great historical overview of how face-lift surgery has evolved.
BTW because of your videos I now take oral minoxidil and Finasteride prescribed by my dermatologist ~ it's a huge help for thinning hair! And I thank you for making me aware of this option!

You didn't mention the appearance/disappearance of Joe's skin age spots. And the changes in skin color he has shown recently.

Usually 80 is the "cut off" for the surgeries… Anesthesia can kill older people..
Generally “age is just a number”. Anyone of any age can be a good or bad candidate for surgery and anesthesia. Sure, older people generally tend to have a harder time healing and may be more predisposed to excess bleeding. But anyone of any age can have a bad anesthetic outcome. What matters most is that the person is overall deemed healthy which is done with tests prior to surgery.

OH yes, he has had hair transplants, facelifts, or facial procedures, to help him in the aging process. His current facelift (whatever was done) looks pretty good to my untrained eye. I just can't figure out why they didn't tighten the neck and under-jaw skin. It is very loose and when you see a side profile you can actually see how tight his face is, but his neck doesn't match his face. His eyes seem to have shrunk. You can't see the sclera hardly at all. I don't want to get a turkey neck or go bald. I can understand why he had these procedures. Being in the public eye for 50 years has probably contributed to his desire for the surgeries.

I met him in 2002 and talked to him from about two feet away and didn't notice anything, but I wasn't looking either. He was a lot grayer at 40 than he was at 50 due to dye, then became more natural. At 40 he had a lot of sun damage with age spots, deep crow's feet and other wrinkles which did surprise me. But he was the outdoors type.

It's amazing that the most powerful man in the world can't get a better facelift. Living in the D.C. area, there was only ever one doctor I trusted, Diane Colgan. She was known for her beautiful stitches and her conservative results. Her lifts lasted for a good ten years. I've visited many D.C. area doctors since and I wouldn't let even one of them touch me. It's either you or Ben Talei in L.A.

I think it was chin filler as the groove/dent in his chin disappeared for a while but it looks like it’s coming back again. I’m guessing the filler needs a top up

My father had an old school hair transplant. They took some of his scalp and he had plug grafts. Waste of money it never really worked the way he had hoped

I think it's pretty obvious that he's had a lot of plastic surgery, but it does seem to have been tasteful and consistent enough to not be an obvious sudden change for the most part. I'd imagine he has had excellent surgeons.
