As for the Blood Ravens being Magpies well desperate times called for desperate measures; the era in which stealing everything useful that wasn't nailed down was a trying time and much of that was some of their own relics that had been stolen including 5 full suits of terminator armor being held in the local hive world governor's personal collection. The Blood Ravens had recently had several of their recruiting worlds destroyed, their numbers in half their companies battered by crisis after crisis (along with the Dark Crusade on Kronos) and the other half almost totally annihilated by the Buffoonish Captain Boreal. Then their home subsector gets ravaged by a Tyrranid splinter fleet and proto Ork Waaagh along with constant meddling and harassment by Eldar of Craftworld Uthwe (who in their typical meddlesome fashon were responsible for the Orks and Nids showing up at the Blood Ravens doorstep due to their meddling, at least Biel-Tan will stab you in the front) with nothing but a strike cruiser and a couple escorts with a few dozen marines, several veteran sergeant (though admittedly some were very experienced) and a freshly minted captain to stop them and succeeded against all odds. After having what was left having their asses hauled out of the fire by the perfect timing of the 3rd company they had to contend with a chaos incursion summoned by the untrustworthy Govenor including many Chaos Marines and daemons along with Eliphas "Why won't you Fucking stay dead?" The Inheritor. Then after stacking the corpses of aforementioned Marines and Daemons like cordwood and unfortunately confronting and killing one of their own sergeants turned traitor they destroyed the physical form of the Great Unclean One Ulkair only to find out that their own chapter master had turned traitor centuries ago and had likely masterminded all of their great misfortunes to that point. Then after apparently attracting the Ire of Abbadon himself the Blood Ravens were locked in a bitter stalemate for a decade they finally pushed out their enemies (at the beckoning of an inquisitor with a mini crusade of imperial guard) and in the process went to war with traitor elements of their own chapter (and won) and discovered their Chapter Master had been consorting with a particular Greater Daemon of Khorn (who is atypically a singularly patient and scheming example of a Khornate servant) that had set all of this into motion. The Blood Ravens finally defeat their partially ascended Daemon Prince Chapter Master (how a Greater Daemon is able to do this to someone without their patrons direct involvement and multiple times at that is beyond me) and not only survive but stayed loyal, are not found wanting by the inquisition nor being disbanded due to critically short numbers or sent on a penitent crusade but allowed to rebuild with a new Commander at the helm. Many other Chapters could look to the Blood Ravens as a shining example of unrelenting tenacity in the face of impossible odds. All of which was in the span of around 20 years an undoubtedly shitty 2 decades at that, I think stealing some shit is small fucking potatoes compared to that.

You forget one detail; many of the items from other chapters are said too have been in the blood ravens' possession long before the events of Dawn of War. In addition, nothing explains how the actual fuck they got Custodes gear. The Imperial Fists are a founding chapter that guards the most holy planet in the galaxy, the very planet the Custodes are stationed on, and _they_ don't get Custodes gear.

After about a week of painting them I looked up as much of their lore as was available at the time and I feel in love with how they are not perfect. It made them feel more understanding that they’d break rules for the mission at hand and are becoming corrupted as anyone in a powerful position would.

Huh. You do that too? Here I thought I was weird.
I discovered this channel (and 40K lore in general) through a random video that popped up in autoplay while I was watching other content about fictional civilizations and such. Nice to listen to something to clear your mind while you try to fall asleep, and I have tinnitus (ringing in the ears) really bad so it's difficult for me to fall asleep without playing some sort of sound to drown out the 'HNNNNNG!!!' noise. I've never played any of the 40K games (video games or tabletop stuff) or read any of the books. But I ended up finding it interesting and at this point I feel I've listened to about 90% of the quality 40K lore videos that exist hehe. By now I feel I know pretty much every major lore point and chapter and race and important battle or event in this universe and I've never touched the official WH40K stuff - could write a mini encyclopedia on it thanks to this stuff!
So anyway, not only in this channel interesting, but it's genuinely helpful for those of us with restless minds or who have other reasons that require they play some sort of audio to help them fall asleep. =)

I like the idea of a rogue inquisitor using them for his own ends, but i agree that the basic story needs a rewrite; even space marines arent naive enough to think that they can just attack another imperial organization, particularly the inquisition, with impunity. The way i'd probably write the story would be that, as the Fire Claws starting out, they knew what they were being asked to do was wrong, but thought doing so would benefit the Imperium in the end. Even so, they didnt want to make it obvious it was them that attacked the inquisition, so they spray painted some of their armor and ships, operating under the guise of the Relictors as a cover. They would leave a guy alive to tell the Imperium it was the Relictors who attacked them, but since nobody had ever heard of this chapter before it wouldve been harder to make the connection with the Fire Claws. Eventually, though, they knew they'd be caught out, but they still believed their methodology was an effective one and wanted to continue it, so they made a deal with the inquisition when it showed up, handing over the rogue inquisitor and most of their chaos weapons in exchange for some being 'misplaced due to clerical error', or some such bs. I think that'd make a much better story.

A greater demonic sword is a pebble that will make the individual instantly catch fire, explode and melt, though not necessarily in that order.
... And the black blade is the unstable thermonuclear god-pebble, instantly exploding in the near proximity of the target, with the equivalent force of a 70 gigaton nuclear warhead...

You could have a mixed chapter if all of the genseed for making a marine comes from a single marine. If founding members of a chapter where drawn from different legion stock then you would have various members each purely decended from a different primarch. Much like how a regiment can be amalgamated. Why you would do this is beyond me as different genseed has different characteristics and this would complecate your recruitment and medical needs. Who wants to deel with the canis helix, the black rage and the Dornite stick up the arse? Not me.

I think their next logical move should be to make a infiltration of a inquisitorial artifacts vault, and subsequently performing an assault on it.
All inquisition, and related personnel are deemed expendable, no lives left within the vault upon the Relictors leaving.
And just to ya know spice things up, we'll say one Inquisitor barely is able to cling to life after the massacre, and is able to finger the relictors...
    It's PERFECT!!

I once heard the story of how Lion El Johnson....Became a member of the blood ravens. Let me take you back, back to the days when the blood ravens were looting the rock. They once came upon a strange, giant man sleeping in the heart of the rock. And like any other good collector when presented with a fascinatingly giant man they didn't know....Decided that he was in clear need of "rescuing", so tied him up, and carried him out together! Back aboard their strike cruiser, they gently probed the man...And when he woke up. He tried to convince them he wasn't the biggest space marine they evah saw, but a primarch. To which they informed him, hippity hoppity, you're now our property. And had their techmarine make him a set of power armor. Of course in the blood raven's colors. And like that, lion became an official member of the chapter, and helped the ravens loot their way across the galaxy. Coming to see that the blood ravens were an objectively better chapter than his legion had become. And deciding he was happier with the clepto's that literally looted him from his own legion's base, than dealing with his sons who forgot what the fuck the first legion was. He was so disappointed that the thought of actually being a primarch kinda lost its interest. Besides, there was so much interesting stuff to loot. Like did you know horu----I've been infomed by Captain Johnson that I shouldn't tell you about horus' special things.
    You're welcome for that story.

I think one plothole is the Grey Knights agreeing to attack the Relictors. With the Space Wolves it was due to the horrible consequences of the Space Wolves’ merciful actions. But the Relictors? It’s unlikely they’d go “Oh, your fortress was destroyed by loyal Space Marines? Sure, we’ll go kick their asses.” and more likely they’d say “What did you do to deserve it?” or “Why did they attack you?” Followed by a slightly hypocritical execution of the survivor for harboring a Chaos artifact and going to question the Relictors to confirm it was destroyed.
