    I have always been losing my bank for 10 years and never made a profit, always going bust and going bust, luckily I don't deposit a lot every time, but over the years I have already lost about 5K usd. I have not had any money problem in the past since I was active at work, but today I am retired and I will have to be more careful and disciplined, I hope your strategies work for me. In a few months I'll tell you how it went. Thank you very much again for your very instructive videos!!!

    Pie in the sky numbers for the profitability and really unsound logic as a whole. The only way to trade profitably is for your bets to have a positive EV when placed and this logic gives you no idea whatsoever that each of your bets have such an EV. And if you're going on the BF market as a whole without really understanding why the odds are as they are you're doomed. Follow this at your peril but the likelihood is that it is a long term losing strategy without further data to back up your selections. Mentioning 'not many shots at goal' and other generalisations means nothing at all.

Was snookered immediately by a goal after 4 mins, so, (no idea if you'd approve) I switched it to the under 4.5 market instead. 7 mins later I was out with a small profit from my small stake trade.

      @TradingTheMarket  Před 2 lety

      At what time did you lay the over 3.5? From kick off? Always best to wait 10 mins and judge the flow of the game.
      With regards to over 4.5 after the goal this is something that can be done but is still a risk as you have already lost money on the same match.

    Hi mate, this strategy is interesting but sometimes your position is open during 10+ min which is very dangerous because it’s quite long and the probability to see a goal isn’t that low.
    Isn’t it better to do it on the 1X2 market ? For example on the draw in 2nd half if a team is 1 goal behind. It would require some investigations to find the best time bracket to do it (probably at the beginning of 2nd half) but this way, you protect yourself in case of a goal. If the leading team is scoring, your trade will be even better. If the other team scores the equalizer, it might be a bigger loss. Did you ever try it ?

    Can I ask in the spreadsheet, aware your watching the games and going in where feel appropriate. Do you have a rule on the scoreline before enter. From the odds it seems there might be max 2 goals in games at time enter but just wanted to know.

    • @TradingTheMarket
      @TradingTheMarket  Před 2 lety +1

      Ideally the score should be 0-0 to make it as lower risk as possible but if I see an opportunity I will enter games on the over 3.5 at 1-0 but I wouldn't advise it as this is then the same risk as over 2.5 goals trading.

    Good video. Effective and one most new/old traders can practice and learn how a market moves. Also, you demonstrated how the betfair platform with the cash-out function can be used. As you pointed out, a loss will occur, so the acid test will be taking a red trade and moving on to the next one.
    I like automation in general, but with this approach, watching the match, checking stats and bet placement, I'd learn more in the long term and it's more fun that way too.

    hey, this a great video and has become my favourite trading strategy
    I am currently only using £5 stakes to perfect a technique which works for me, however i do have a concern about my cashout prices which seem strange, for example:
    bet A - £5 bet. 3.3 entry 3.9 exit = £0.36 cashout (£11.50 liability)
    bet B - £5 bet. 3.55 entry 4.1 exit = £0.56 cashout (£12.75 liability)
    i would assume my cashout prices would be more similar, no?
    what factors affect this other than the maths side, do different leagues have different commissions? liquidity was high on all my bets. is having such small stakes an issue? i dont see why it would. i followed the strategy by having my back bet at higher decimals than the lay.
    I'm new to this so please share your thoughts on how prices fluctuate for cashouts

    • @TradingTheMarket
      @TradingTheMarket  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi Charlotte, your stake has no bearing on the cashout as the tick values are the same in both trades.
      Betfair does not charge alternative commission amounts on each league, its even across the board whether this is 2% or 5% depending on which you have chosen.
      The cashout will be different each time as the cashout is spread across all the markets of the over/under, spread between the back and lay prices of the under market and the back and lay prices of the over market, all 4 odds and prices work in tandem when cashing out.

    @Peter-zw8yn Před rokem

    Hi James I was wondering if you could advice please. I have seen another video that there is a way to possibly reduce your loss over the game, this lay over 3.5 goals method was carried out at the beginning of the match and not the 10th minutes but the principle should remain. This method entails backing over 3.5 goals for the same stake as you lay if a goal goes in, and hoping there are no more goals otherwise liability could be worse than cashing out, but if no further goals are scored the loss reduces. Using your method if I lay over 3.5 goals after 10 minutes for £50, then stagger 5x £10 back bets every couple of ticks, if I get the first 3 matched but had two bets unmatched when a goal is scored, would backing over 3.5 goals for the remaining £20 work in the same way? Thanks for these videos they're priceless!

The score at the time was 3-0 to Rennes - are you also ok to enter in a quiet period of a match wherever it will be? Was that still the 3.5 market as from my experience once 3 goals have gone in the price will stay very flat until even around the 85th minute when it will start to climb. Hey guys, great content. I have a question : once you made your lay bet how do you decide / calculate how many back bets you need to do on every 0.1 above the lay bets? In your at 6.25min you have a £50 lay stake and then you go on and make 5 x £10 back bets ? In fact the lay odds in that 6.25min example are made with step up every 0.2 and in the live example they are made with a step up every 0.1 .It will be great if you could let me know . Thanks again for the insightful video!

My question is why does your stake and liability vary so much on the spreadsheet results page? The staking looks volatile, how come?

    Hi, I like your method it’s got a few options to it as long as you don’t get stung before back bets are placed.
    How severe can the hit be on that happening? As you trade out early it’s a small return, say 10 per cent which add up no question. But the question I have is if all where lay at 4 and backed at one tick up on the backs but they didn’t get the chance, what’s the back price going to be as to your exit loss?
    I must say I have been testing this and it works no question but this loss possibility could mean your a busy fool? Hopefully your response proves me wrong 👍

    is the main reason going between odds of 3 and 4 as below this it will take longer for odds to start drifting for profit and above it because of the increased liability and exposure to the market ive done quite a bit of tennis trading successfully just trying a bit of footie as tennis slowing down now

    • @TradingTheMarket
      @TradingTheMarket  Před rokem

      It's one of many reasons, yes it will take time for the odds to start to drift as the market believes there will be goals with odds under 2.5.
      Higher than 4.0 you're starting to risk more and more liability.
      The reason for odds of 3>4 is because it's the sweet spot, the market is undecided which way the match will play out, waiting 10 minutes for a quiet start will then see the odds drift out pretty quickly allowing us to take advantage and ride the wave.

    • @TradingTheMarket
      @TradingTheMarket  Před rokem

      The criteria is there to give you the basis and best possible chance of succeeding.
      The reason for entering on lower/higher odds is when I disagree with odds based on my own research of expected goals in the match.
      If the market is at say 2.0 for Over 3.5 goals and the market is expecting it to happen yet my own research looking into the stats tells me different I will Lay Over 3.5 goals, In a short amount of time the odds will correct themselves if there are no goals leaving me with an easy green.
      In regards to a goal being scored when you are in the trade you would then trade out immediately for a loss. A goal will usually mean you are losing 30- 50% of your entered lay stake on average.
      sometimes more, sometimes less.

By all means spend a season following the SET RULES and then come back and report. But I can assure you that, after half a Centuries worth of experience in systematic betting, there is no method that sticks rigidly to a set of rules and will then make enough of a profit to make it worth the time and effort involved. If there were such a system the Bookies would know about it and jiggle the prices accordingly. The only way to turn a long time profit, imo, is to LAY rather than Back. I am more than happy for someone to prove me wrong but doubt I will be around long enough to see it. I'm not interested in "destroying" anyones work, but the examples shown, when taken in context with the commentary, do not add up. There can be no argument about that. As I have said, please come back next year with a full set of Bets that stick to the rules quoted, I look forward to being proved wrong.
