    I like that fact that he tested the very basic trim, which is usually sufficient for most people. So glad that automakers are finally making trucks affordable and efficient. Not everybody needs a $70K truck with 7 mpg that can tow the Queen Mary Up Everest.

    Both me and my Parents are enjoying our hybrids. They got an XLT and I got the Lariat. I let the tank get as close to empty as I could and was able to get about 560 miles. I probably could have gone another 20 or 30 miles. I was able to get that by driving mainly on city roads. I even used google maps to find the most fuel efficient path to work. I was able to go about 2 weeks without having to refuel.

    Good to see the compact truck class making a comeback. Not everyone wants a trimmed out truck to do small tasks. Some people want a good cheap honest truck to get them by and do some truck stuff when the need arrives. Then there's the MPG. 👀 Wowsers with the recent events in Europe, it's going to not burn a hole in wallet.

    I have the same truck, XL Hybrid. I just added a bed liner and bed cover ($800 value) and with state sales tax it came up to a little over 24K. So it is marketed at 19k + but with delivery and tax, it will be close to 24K. So keep that in mind.. However, it is still a bargain and fun to drive.

    HI SAM, GOOD JOB!! YOU ARE ONE OF VERY FEW REVIEWERS THAT EVEN MENTIONS THE APPALLING LACK OF REAR SEAT A/C VENTS!! ( especially in ARIZONA, this is probably a deal breaker, if you have kids that have to ride back there!! ) IT MIGHT BE FORGIVABLE ON THE BASE MODEL, IF IT WAS AVAILABLE ON THE HIGHER TRIM MODELS, BUT IT AIN'T!! I'M 67 YEARS OLD SAM, SO I CAN REMEMBER WHEN "BASE MODEL" MENT : ROLL-UP WINDOWS WITH A "CRANK"!! BENCH VINYL SEAT, NON-POWER DRUM BRAKES ( at least on the rear wheels ) NON-POWER STEERING, 3-ON-THE-TREE MANUAL TRANSMISSION, DRIVERS SIDE ONLY OUTSIDE REAR VIEW MIRROR ( manual controlled ) NO DAY-NIGHT INSIDE MIRROR, AM MONO RADIO, BLACK WALL BIAS PLY TIRES, AND ON PICK UP TRUCKS, THE REAR BUMPER, AND SPARE TIRE+CARRIER OPTIONAL!! SO THIS "BASE MODEL" WITH POWER WINDOWS, AIR CONDITIONING, DUAL MANUAL OUTSIDE MIRRORS, A HYBRID POWERTRAIN ( maybe the best base engine ever sold on an American Car OR Truck?? ) WITH 4 WHEEL DISC RE-GERERATIVE BRAKES, A REMOTE FUEL DOOR RELEASE ( shouldn't all Mavericks have that?? shouldn't all cars have that?? ) A REAR BUMPER AND SPARE TIRE AND HOLDER ( is it a space saver, which is more than a lot of cars have these days?? ) A GOOD AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION, A 0 TO 60 MPH DASH WELL UNDER 10 SECONDS ( is it possibly the fastest base model car or light truck sold in America under $30,00.00?? ) OH, YEAH, I THINK IT'S GOT TINTED GLASS, TOO!! AND EVEN THE BASE TIRES ARE VERY GOOD, GOOD SIZED, AND, THE STEEL WHEELS LOOK PRETTY NICE!! NOT BAD FOR $22 GRAND!! AND 42 MPG IN THE CITY??
    GREAT FOR THE PIZZA DELIVERY GUY, THE NEWSPAPER GUY, THE AUTO PARTS GUY, DRUGSTORE GUY, GRUB HUB GUY, ECT. ETC.!! NO WONDER IT'S THE NORTH AMERICAN TRUCK OF THE YEAR!! THANKS SAM!! CHAS ORVIS, PLAINVILLE, CT.

      Seems to me that if it only has gears then it can’t be continuously variable, therefore not a CVT. Instead maybe it has an actual 1st gear to get going, then a belt type CVT takes over. That’s just a guess though.

    • @Dave-cf4vd
      @Dave-cf4vd Před 2 lety +1

      @@PrivateEyeYiYi No belts in an eCVT. Think of a differential, but instead of wheels you have an engine on one side and an electric motor on the other. The gas engine spins at a constant RPM; the electric side varies its participation There is a generator in there somewhere too. They should not call it "eCVT", they should call it a "sun gear" because there are teeth and real gears, and no metal-belt slipping on pulleys in weird fluid..

    • @Dave-cf4vd
      @Dave-cf4vd Před 2 lety

      An eCVT is pretty much just a differential. Engine is where the left wheel would be, and the electric motor is where the right wheel would be. How long do those last? Forever. Calling it a "CVT" is a huge marketing blunder.

    Best Maverick review yet! I have the exact same truck ordered as yours, Area 51 base XL. I also have the $100 tow hitch, I picked the drop in cargo mat for $140 as well as floor mats for $175 and a full size spare for $115. I ordered it in Oct 2021 and am still waiting. The price I got had a base price of $20,995, so up $1000 over yours.
    I ordered this because my Rivian just took forever. I finally got my Rivian and am surprised that Ford is taking so long with this. I am definitely keeping my Rivian, what a truck, and will probably sell my Maverick when I finally get it. And indeed the Escape, which came out in 2019, it had its share of issues. Consumer Reports really didn’t like the 3 cylinder engine.

    Great thorough review that covered a bunch of stuff that others didn't like sound quality, ecvt, noise level etc. I'd personally give it a 5 on the value scale, a few years extra warranty on the santa cruz is not worth 4k. You could buy an extended warranty for less on the Ford. Also don't see why many people aren't looking at this potential competition to an entry level SUV, you get ride height, optional 4wd (although I hate you have to go to the gas guzzling eco boost to get 4wd), space for 4 adults and way more utility with the bed for camping trips, bikes, kayaks, ski's etc. How easy was this to order and was it over/under msrp?

I to don’t like the Antenna on the Maverick and have found a replacement on Amazon called the Stubby that furs Ford Maverick and New Ford Bronco. Heck, my 83 Ranger had an AMFM stereo but only had 2 3.5 inch speakers in the dash. That's it. Finally hooked up an eq amp to it and it helped. And it cost over 10k back than (It was an XL diesel version). I know the radio is way, way, better than that one.
