    No need to dislike the video.
    This Kreg K5 mount makes it so much easier to secure to a workbench. I added some PowerTec hose clamps to support my vacuum hose. I really enjoy this new setup.

    I did a similar K5 jig board, but used a hard 1-1/4 vac extension wand going from the dust port to the left (because that's the shortest way to my vac hose) edge of the jig board. I had some spare wands, the smaller OD seemed less obtrusive in that spot, plus it's ridgeless. I just used pipe straps to hold the plastic tube to the blocks

    Like everyone else, the hose clamps are brilliantly simple and a great solution. A real "duh" moment for everyone who didn't think of it. Good project!

    Great idea. I have a K-5 simply screwed to a piece of plywood. The vac hose brackets are a particularly good idea.

    Great idea with the hose clamps, made my own K5 mount a few months ago, very similar but without the clamps and as you'll know the hose gets in the way, drops out and generally is a pain in the arse. I'll be adding those clamps tomorrow.

    Good idea on the hose clamp blocks to stabilize the vac hose, but I think using heavy velcro in place of hose clamp would be more speedy and more convenient.

    Yeah. Too smart on the hose clamps. I just duct taped the heck out of the dust port adapter where in plugs into the K5. Mine looks terrible. But works. I leave the hose on the dust port adapter permanently. ( those hose clamps with ridiculously sharp edges left open like that is a good place to cut your hands ) Well done!

    Great video and making this over the weekend. Quick question. Where did you get the adaptor to connect to the dust collection port on the K5?

    • @SCWD_US
      @SCWD_US  Před 3 lety

      It’s a Ridgid hose that has a nozzle that fits. If you’re referring to the hose clamps, I got them on Amazon.

    What size screw did you use to attach k5 to base?

    • @SCWD_US
      @SCWD_US  Před 3 lety

      The shortest corse screws Kreg makes. Kreg Pocket Hole #7.

    • @dashcammer4322
      @dashcammer4322 Před rokem

      You can also use #8-32 x 1-1/2 pan head Phillips machine screws with flat and split washers. Those thread into 8-32 pronged tee nuts that are relieved into the underside of the plywood base. I like to fasten jigs to plywood bases that way, instead of using wood screws, because I sometimes want to remove and reinstall things without thread erosion, which happens if you remove and replace wood screws too many times.
