His walk into that room and Daemon helping him...was the most emotional scene in the series.
That episode cemented the change in our collective opinion of Viserys II. Before HotD, he was only ever regarded as a good man but weak king. He was said to have lacked the strength or will to make the hard decisions.
We now know the truth is far more complicated - and crueler. Now he's viewed as strong in his own way. All he ever did was for the realm. He desperately sought peace in his house so that his house might be strong enough to save everyone.

Yes. I hot goosebumps so badly when seing this, told my mother to shut the heck up and watched the scene with my undivided attention. And that comes from an adhd person
You know, it wasn't in the script that the crown falls. The actor of Viserys actually drops the hat and Matt Smith, actor of Daemon, chooses to help him! They decided not to cut it to show how Daemon still longs and cares for his brother's love and affection. Great acting from both actors to keep going despite the crown falling. It's also noted that Daemon could have killed and easily tried to steal the King's power but allows himself to fall back and walk away from a war.
This scene set HOTD up with the best moments of GoT. The choices in their adaptation, the acting, the collaboration between actors for young and old versions of characters, and the surprising quality of the CGI for a season 1 are way better than they deserved to be.

Alicent didn’t have any context on the prophecy of the Long Night, the Prince that was Promised, any of it.
That and so many of their line being named Aegon, was bound to cause trouble.
Alicent felt validated, believing her trueborn son was getting what she believed was his birthright.
I don’t believe Alicent thinks she’s going against Viserys’s wishes. She's probably hopeful that she is.
But at the same time, she’s stubbornly clinging to that hope and not even considering she might have gotten it wrong, which is still pretty fucking awful.
She was definitely his favorite child 😂

I dare say the three eyed raven is actually not a good guy. I believe that is why we are getting the John Snow series. Remember, Drogon also took off with Dany's body. We know of the blood magic that occurred with her and Kahl Drogo when she begged for him to be healed. After all, it was the witches screams that helped bring the dragons to life and hatch, and Dany's sacrifice. Herself. She had lost everything (her child, her husband), just like Rheyneara (her father, her throne, her daughter...). The shedding of blood for magical purposes is big here lol. Remember, they say the blood mages worked with them to create the dragons. Targaryan and Valerian blood was spilt for this specific purpose. They were the dragons first.
You definitely see marked changes in the two after these events. They are defining moments in anyone's life. But, this is GOT/HOTD. By far, I love Rheyneara so much more than Dany! I also love how intensely fierce she is. I wouldn't mess with her. Lol. Look at her Husband! 😍 The Rogue Prince is not one to be messed with. ❤️🔥🖤

I loved the part that Smith improvised where Daemon helped him up the stairs and picked up his crown for him and put it back on his head. It was powerful and symbolic, and brilliant improvisation that made the scene that much better.

It was the first time I got really emotional during this show

@@ciaran..G I know they are all flawed characters but I highly dislike Viserys. The way viewers hype up his one unifying speech like how that’s supposed to make up for his years of neglect with his other kids, who never knew much of him at all.
This indeed was heartbreaking. She thought he, didn't hear her, but he did. Even on his deathbed, his love for his daughter got him up. Loved this scene.

The crown falling off wasn't part of the script. It was an accident, but Matt Smith(Daemon) picked it up and they went with it. It was an AMAZING scene that wasn't supposed to happen. I love it!

Him also looking at/smelling the tea he was drinking and showing concern over him being possibly poisoned was another moment too. There's still love there without a doubt.
he crawled out of his death bed to defend her. the actor who played him did a great job. i can see he was putting every ounce of strength and will power he has to take each step. he even refused to take the help of kings guards. i replyed this scene multiple times and it still gives me goosebumps.

He didn’t deserve these people, and they didn’t deserve him. He was a good man and a good king. He listened, negotiated, compromised, offered peace and even begged that his family put aside their grievances because he loved them. And they pay him back by killing each other anyway.
Actually this is mainly his fault. If he truly loved his family so deeply, daemon would've been hand and Otto and alicent wouldn't have been able to start the war the way they did.

Viserys could have not married Alicent, picked someone other than Otto for his hand, refused to reinstate Otto as hand later on, married his two eldest children together, put his foot down to marry Jacerys and Helaena.
Not naming Daemon as hand was not one of his mistakes, he made several other mistakes, but Daemon was not one of them.
Hey Rhaenyra held back even after hearing that the greens crowned Aegon in front of the masses the day after Viserys died AND after a stillborn baby caused from stress BECAUSE she knew that war was not what Viserys would have wanted and she prioritized her duty to protect the realm over her desire to claim her birthright. She even spared Otto and considered giving up the throne. Imo she did a damn good job fighting against her emotions and urges until pushed to the absolute limity

If all Daemon wanted was war and bloodshed, he would've killed Otto and hundreds others well before it even got to this point. Daemon is a lot of things but FIERCELY LOYAL to his family is number one. Which is why most of their enemies are not burned to a crisp. Being Ready for war does not mean you are eager for war. Deamon will forever be his biggest mistake. Deamon forever had targaryen family at the top of his list, and that includes his brother.

Daemon butchered dozens in King's Landing just to prove a point, he dragged his brother into a war in the Stepstones and ended it before his brothers armies even arrived, he flat out murdered his first wife simply because he didn't like her, she'd done him no wrong other than to do as she was told and marry him.
Daemon would never have made a good hand, loyalty isn't the only characteristic you need in a hand, you need a cunning mind, patience, diplomacy, a willingness to talk with your enemies not simply beheading or burning them.
And yes, Daemon's eager for war, he helped Corlys in the Stepstones, he never had to do that, he was one of the first pushing Rhaenyra to war in the last episode, Daemon is the one constantly strategising how to go on the attack to burn his enemies, his family's enemies, he's not the one suggesting negotiations or diplomacy.
He wasn't walking to the throne. He was walking to his daughter. 💕

Viserys really grew on me throughout the season. He came off as kind of weak and oblivious at first. He wasn't a fighter and didn't seem very decisive.
But the older he got, the weaker he grew physically, the more formidable he became as a person and king. He stood by his decision to make Rhaenyra his heir. He grasped back his power from the Hightowers and tried his best to keep the peace of the realm.
Sure, he made mistakes but maybe more than any other king we've seen in GOT he actually tried to unite his family and keep destruction at bay. Although it was a futile effort in the end, he earned my respect as a character.

Dads are very special. I know this is just a show but it hit me hard. I lost my dad to cancer years ago and there isn't a day that goes by I don't grieve...all the milestones he was robbed of, getting to retire and live his golden years with Mama, playing with his grandkids that he never got to meet (he died 4 years before my first child was born and 3 years before I was married), he never got to meet the man who I would marry...I went to the J of the P to marry since to me, my dad is the only man who can give me away at my wedding so I didn't do the wedding traditionally. Anyways Im rambling...just hug your dad yall...life isnt guaranteed, we are all here today but tomarrow may be different, God forbid but it happens. Blessings to all of yall...love your dads, moms, everyone. This life we have is precious.

She lost her mother, her father, her stillborn child and her son, not to mention her throne. She’s been tested more than once, yet here she was, still not wanting a war for the sake of his father wishes before the brutal murder of her son. I don’t give a shit about people saying Aemond didn’t mean it, seven Hells if he didn’t he shouldn’t have hunted a child with the biggest dragon alive, he was scared enough. The king’s sons were the only things he did wrong, none fit to rule, none were raised right.
