As a Child aged 8 at the time, i remember the news at 9 report that went viral on BBC in the October of 1984, i remember all the news papers doing front pages of the issues in Ethiopia. Being so close to Christmas my father purchased the single and its been with me ever since ! i remember all the lead up on tv leading in to 1985 with all the press coverage and then the announcement of the concert on july 13th 1985 - unfortunately we were unable to attend but i remember that day vividly, - warm day and the TV was on - Dad came home early from working overtime on a job in London Aldgate, we as a family watched the whole thing during a BBQ that day and all you could hear was peoples TVs blaring out and neighbours cheering at the TV all day , and into the night - Most of the artists i had never heard of before being so young, but 13th July 1985 lit a spark in me that will never extinguish for these talented artist's. every year now i post a remembrance to live aid on my face book as a reminder what the world was like and how back then a concert of such size was managed across 2 continents with the "then modern technology" and the back then use of Concorde to get Phil Collins playing on both sides of the planet ! it holds a place close to my heart and memories i had with my family that fine day. if one song stands out for me, its David Bowies - Hero's - Why i here you ask? on that day every musician and person watching "were hero's for that one day" . Bob Geldof l and others left me with an inerasable memory and i thank them for that. i hope the historic value of live aid also lives on for others who felt the same.

I was 15, about to turn 16 in 1985. I’m so lucky to have come of age during this amazing time for music. I’m still fueled by it.

It was a landmark for musical artist at that time, and has since faded to nothing in mainstream music. By the way I turned 21 the next day.

This was so amazing. I remember this like it was yesterday. Sure wish today’s musicians, influencers etc would stop grandstanding about their own personal political agendas & opinions & do something grand & lovely like this!!

I have so much respect to the entire Band Aid team for everything they’ve accomplished. I still feel that Midge Ure should have been knighted for his services, he should be just as recognised as Sir Bob has been.

I remember when I was a kid and I saw images like those at 53:00, it scared me and deeply upset me as I was about their age at the time and it personally brought it home for me, I couldn't even listen to do they know its Christmas, and I had to change the radio station or play the next track as the song reminded me too much of those images that I mentioned, especially in its music video, which had that image of the dead babies in it as well. If it wasn't for counselling, Komla Dumor's positive belief in a happier Africa, the programme focus on Africa itself, Africans challenging stereotypes, it would have still been the same. If anything, it has somewhat inspired me to do a song/concert for awareness of war in Europe, as again seeing images of war in Ukraine and Bosnia, etc, for instance, deeply moved me, and its the same for natural disaster relief in the continent too. Bob Geldof is a true hero and his work inspires me even to this day very much.

Thankfully Bob not only felt deeply for the people of Ethiopia- but had the energy and passion to do something about it. Most other people would have thought ‘it’s terrible, but there’s nothing I can do.’ God Bless Saint Bob
