Martin must be a brilliant doctor to diagnose her condition as dead just by calling her name a few times!
I mean she's on the ground not breathing, eyes open. Doesn't take a doctor to know that normally means dead.
Sonar
He probs felt her and she had no pulse
It's his superpower. Apparently he's going to be in the DCU now.
Love how the dog never left her side and just laid next to her
"mum are you alright". no shes fine clearly
Keiran Counsell That's why she's lying facedown in the snow!
Gaming 1776 I can't remember exactly, but I think it was before Joe arrived, and she'd gone to see Michelle in America, and came back with short hair.
Maybe they both had it done at the same time, because look at Michelle now! (Yes, I know she's a different actress, but for the story's purposes, it'd fit!)
Keiran Counsell i
Yeah Martin she's just snow bathing, carry on with your fun
Terrible what they did to Pauline in the last few months. The Pauline that lied to Martin about having a brain tumour is like a completely different character compared to the one who was sticking by Mark when Peggy banned him from the Vic for having ‘AIDS’, or the one who confronted Dirty Den for getting her 16 year old daughter pregnant.
It feels like they planned this death for years, an iconic character dying on Christmas Day in the middle of the Square as it was snowing. So when Wendy Richards decided to leave, only Pauline Fowler, the matriarch of the original central family of the show could pull it off.

"She's dead"
Guy in the background: Lovely
I lost it when dot started shouting. I couldnt help it 😂
Same, MAAAAAARRRRTTTIIINNNN!!!!!! 😂😂😂
i'd laugh if she just went at the last minute "BOO" i got you !!!!
Another happy christmas in Walford
Let's not even mention the New Year's with people getting anonymously stabbed in the streets.
Or when Stacey Slater is discovered as Archie's Killer. God, UK Xmases are so sad. In the US everyone is happy at least most of the time. They would show Classic Soap Opera Stories on CBS, then Jerry Ver Dorn who plays Ross Marler on Guiding Light 1979-2004 would wish the Fans a Happy Holiday Season then you would see the Cast Members and the folks who work behind the Scenes, Scriptwriters, Cameraman, Wardrobe, Lighting and their own Families.
🤪🎄🎅 Siiiiimply, haaaaaving, a wonderful Christmas time! 🤶🎁😂
Such a shame what they did to Pauline towards the end. She became so horrible it was hard to sympathise with her unfortunately.
Dot doing her best foghorn impression there. "MMMMMMAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRTTTTTTTTIIIIIIIINNNNNN! MAAAAAAARR-TIIIIIIINNNN."
RIP to June Brown, Wendy Richard and John Bardon
Rest in peace Wendy Richards you were great in your appearances on dad's army, your role in every episode of are you being served and are you being served again, and in eastenders. You left the earthly plain too soon.
A heartbreaking end to such an iconic character. It’s even more heartbreaking knowing that Wendy Richard would pass just a few years later.
Whos Wendy Richie?
@@LCFCV9 The actress that played Pauline.
Thank You again!!! So sad when Pauline died and all alone except for her faithful cairn Betty. Pauline Fowler's missed!!!
I remember this well, was sad to see her go¡ she was incredible over the years
RIP Wendy, you made us laugh in Are You Being Served and gave us all the other emotions as Pauline, we will miss you!! RAY xxx
Max looks like a very tall baby in this, with his little tuft of hair!
😂 He was already 37 here tho
I thought he looked like Sloth from the goonies, seeing his head from behind.
Always looked like the washing up liquid baby.
He looks like a baked bean!
He was in only fools and horses
I love the way Martin pronounce s Pauline dead without even checking for a pulse and that nobody call s an ambulance.
This was the first ever episode of Eastenders I saw.
Same here, I was 6, and my parents were flicking though the channels, and we saw the bit where she collapsed. Technically the first episode I saw!
@@njeevans5768 I was just waiting for a program I liked to come on, I can't remeber what the show it was though.
I never saw what happened to Pauline - I was too busy playing my DS.
I was to busy babbling in my cot, being a 1 year old
Jun2021: I literally just found out Pauline is dead....WTF!
I used to watch Eastenders religiously.
Then I stopped
I thought it was only a few years ago
Seems I stopped watching at least 15years ago.
How times pass.
To keep it simple, She pulled an Arthur on us then finally went to join him.
I miss Pauline
I miss wendy
It's Betty my heart goes out to! Poor old Pauline. She was lovely in the early days of the show. To die, alone and friendless like that, is pretty hard to watch.
Yeah, they turned her into a bitter, spiteful old cow in the end. I miss Betty.
The producers in my opinion really trashed Pauline’s character in her later years particularly towards the end, no wonder Wendy Richards wanted out

I think Eastenders does a great job with scenes like this, yep it's depressing but it makes you value family members more. I'd literally fall to pieces if any of my parents died, or my siblings, same with my niece, nephew and grandparents their my world. Family first
Anna Salvage nothing you can do about it but to survive
Shut your mouth you silly old godless bitch. When they die holding your hand you'll think again, and no pseudo-Cockney trash will change that.
You know what's really sad, is that Wendy Richard, the actress who played Pauline was re-diagnosed with Cancer not to long ago and the prognosis isn't very good.
No checking for a pulse, no calling for an ambulance or even help from those around, just "She's dead" without even nudging her. #Bollocks.
Matt Mosley yea they always do that in all soaps no one calls for nothing they don't do any thing that just hug them sob and rock and pace their dead body slowly and sadly well done well done SOAP PRODUCERS👏👏👏👏
She was obviously dead. At least give em a few seconds to grieve before calling services and things like that.
@@loobyloo-fy4pn that's... not how it works. You do anything to save them given that tiny bit of hope - first and foremost, you check for signs of breathing and you call emergency services.
@@GregKeaton Well she was bleeding from her brain
I love Pauline ! I miss her so much !
Crazy how she didn't get Julia's Theme after 21 years on the show.
LITERALLY
It's true she did die of cancer, but she quit the show because she hated the idea of Pauline marrying again. She felt Pauline should always be married to Arthur Fowler.
i actually remember reading an interview with richards after her exit and she also said she regretted not leaving the show years earlier as she did not like how the show had lost its traditional values over the years and she criticised how it had all gone in a different direction from its original premise.
@@Fusicaaa7530 The real life actor died of cancer in 2009
@@Fusicaaa7530 That was Pauline's cause of death yes, but the actor died of cancer
is that part of the square where heart attacks happened Derek died there and David wicks also had a a heart attack there too
Can't believe they never used the Julia's theme for her death
This still hirts me so much
Has anyone notices Pauline hits Arthur in the head he dies of a brain hameorage and joe hits Pauline giving her a brain hameorage.Well they do say what comes around goes around
she was a rite ass!😂
Sonia hit her across the head with the crysal glass dish.
Not accurate. He got hit in jail. Pauline did hit him with a frying pan...but that was 1993
Pauline didnt kill Arthur it wasnt thst that gave him a brain hameorage
That’s not what happened
RIP Pauline Fowler/Wendy Richard. She was a remarkable actress.
rip sad loss x
rip wendy richards u will always be rememberd
R.I.P Wendy! We all miss you!
I miss my EastEnders so much!!
she had a fight with her husband joe sand he hit her on the head leading to a brain haemorrhage. Ironically Arthur died in almost identical circumstances ten years before this.
Ty
I like the way she lands on the dog on the way down
Does anyone have a video of Pauline listening to her record player not long before she dies? That was actually quite a nice moment.
ColumbiaTerrace84 I think that was part of her deciding to put things right with everyone.
Had Sylvie listening to the same song at the beginning of an episode last week. 'You don't have to say you love me' by Dusty Springfield and I think, like with Pauline, it'll be played at Sylvie's funeral.😥
Didn’t even check her pulse or nothing! 😂🤦🏻♂️
What a iconic character tuff old fashioned family women pauline
Legend
Touche on the player! We can't even see interviews on the EastEnders website. In the Minneapolis/St. Paul market we are over 6.5 years behind (March of 2003 at the present time)
It's been 10 years and still no Pauline... I miss Her... :(
I know. And shut up already.
im stupid Lol rude much?
sad scene
miss Pauline x
Poor dog!
In my opinion, Den's death at the hands of Chrissie was even worse because he like Pauline was one of the best characters in the show, I wanted him to live on to even encounter Grant Mitchell (as well as Phil) and later die (either of a fatal injury or an illness) perhaps with Dennis or Sharon at his side, his death just seemed lame to me when his head was smashed by Chrissie.
Yep was a terrible way for an Iconic character like Den to bow out.
@@SayberV1 They probably killed Den off just to get Leslie Grantham pissed off I guess. 😹
Poor Pauline. 😢
so sad
mum mum you alright ?
I miss Pauline so much
this had me blubbing cud of palyed julia's theme like they do wi pat and peggy and dot
you are about 3 years behind as far as i recall
Recorded on December 25th 2006
Pauline Martin and Sonia was ma favourite eastenders characters
Happiest day of my life...
Ian beale looking so young!
this is so hertbreaking :( one of eastenders iconic characters dying :( I was scared at first I thought pauline fell on her dog!
AWWWW BETTY LOOK AT THE SOUND SHE MADE
Never even heard of this show. Wendy Richards is always going to be Miss Brahms from Are You Being Served? and Are you Being Served? Again!
ultramaximus if you're not from england that's fine but if you're from england then i doubt you haven't atleast heard of eastenders.
I am from Indianapolis. I've heard the term but not the show.
ultramaximus It's just that Wendy Richards played a nicer lady on AYBS.
2000s and early 2010s Eastenders was the best
Sad as this this I couldn't help but laugh at "Maaaaaarrrrrttttiiiiiin!" 🤣
god job marting for checking her pulse!!!!!
mum are you alright?? yes son just having a nap in the snow.........stupid line ever lol
wow, I remember seeing Arthur's Ender but not Paulines, I figured she'd still be in it. Perhaps she's back at Grace Brother's Department store!
god, i remeber wathcing that episode
and her funeral but its really bugging me cause i cant remember which song they played, does anyone know??
All of the other ones?
BBC America stopped showing EastEnders more than 2 years ago, and our local PBS channel also stopped. I really, really miss the show. I wrote the BBC asking them to resume US broadcasts, and they wrote back about some pay-per-view option via Dish Network. Which I can't afford.
I really miss The Square!
Look how young Stacey was back then.
Sounded like a baby
What year??
what year was this one?
the dog is a real one
Martin “Mum? Mum? Mum!” Looks up “She’s dead!”
Sonia ( thinks) ‘Heck- that’ll be that massive slap on the head I gave her a few episodes ago.’
Omg where have you been for the past 25 Years?
i believe aug 2005 from the date on clip - I just watched it -
I mean, she was absolutely unbearable toward the end and I wasn't sad to see Pauline go, but they did Wendy dirty by giving her the duff duffs and not that slow sad piano music everyone else gets when they leave.
Xmas 2006
Bring it back, I say.
Sad loss to eastenders!!
And nobody bothered to call an ambulance
I wasn't bothered about Pauline dieing, but the fact that she had changed and was on her way to make amends made this completely tragic.
The dog Betty is so cute
Pauline had a bit of Lou Beale in her when she keeled over. Lou spent her life on the chair and in her bed, grouching over, having senior fits, and of course when Pauline died in the snow she transformed into Lou straightaway. Cold, icy and just plain sore
@mtheadedwally IA. I remember Wendy Richards from Are You Being Served? too. Rest in Peace Ms.Richards :(
Aww Miss Pauline, She Reminds Me Of A Typical English Grandmother Just Like My Own Aha, May Wendy Richards Rest In Peace.
I always did wonder until tonight (October 25, 2016) what happened to Betty (the dog) after Pauline died. Martin told Stacey that Rebecca had looked after Betty until she died.
Aw when was this? I haven't seen EE since the late 90s on my local PBS channel, aslthough I remember reading about Sonia & Martin, I think. I still remember when Sonia was younger and they showed her busking with her trumpet on a corner and her step-dad Alan Jackson caught her and gave her what for. lol!
I don't remember the year, yet I can remember when Arthur died. It is funny that Pauline died from an Intercerebral Hameorage, the same way her husband died on May 20th 1996
I Think Sonia is Jealous of Clare Bates When They're Having School Play When She Wants Get Trumpet See Clare in School Stage She Doing Solo With Trumpet Sonia Wants Solo She Begs Her Mum Carol Give Her She Refused She Give Her Trumpet She Have No Money Left For Her Sonia Corned Her Stepdad Alan Give Her Trumpet Alan He Tell Her Why She Wants For She Want Copy Clare Get Trumpet
RIP Pauline Fowler
I cried at this scene 😭😭
R.I.P Pauline Fowler and Wendy Richard
i see theeyes moving there
Worst exit ever! I thought Pauline's death was a disgrace, for someone who had been on the show for over 20 years and was then completely ruined.
I hated this ending for a character i loved so much. And a actress who i always loved on Are You Being Served.
It's not snowing, it's dandruff
You CARED enough to reply, duuuuhhh
this is when i started watchin it and from wat i gathered martin thougth it was sonia but how could it have been her if she was in the vic with him
