Pre-builds work for a majority of people that want to pay and play, but the satisfaction of picking your own parts and building your own PC is unmatched
haha i aggree, however its all fun and games until you bend the pins on your CPU
My brother and I always use to build our own PC's for the fun of it and to save a little cash, but I can 100% it is much better to get a prebuilt PC now. You save a lot time effort and money these days.
building PCs on the kitchen counter was always a good time, but its so much easier to just get it done for you
100% aggree
I think with prebuilts you can save a little money, but you don't get the wide choice of components to customize as much. Then they skimp on non-critical parts, and some critical ones too depending on who you choose to build it. It's like building Legos doing it yourself and when you need to fix it you know where everything is and it's good knowledge to have. Plus OEM parts and licenses limit what you can upgrade to. I'd never go prebuilt again.
interesting perspective, how did the licensing do you dirty?
When I upgraded my CPU I had to buy Windows again because OEM parts are licensed to that hardware. I also couldn't use a new motherboard becasue the CPU was registered to the OEM SKU for the CPU. Just a big hassle for me so I build them myself. Like Legos basically.@@WeDoTech
I wouldn't call the PSU or board non-critical.
I get the time saving take but the rest of this is a bit off. the average builder is NOT going to manage to blow up their PC. there are very few truly dangerous pitfalls in modern building and there are way too many resources in terms of build guides for it to be a large concern.
you're also usually not saving money on a pre-built. there's usually a small markup with exact part comparison and a larger one if you check other brands for the same parts. often times you can even spec better builds at similar prices.
haha seems like youve built a lot of PC's?
@@WeDoTech just one actually! built my rig in 2017, just recently finished my first upgrade and have been keeping tabs on the market in-between just for fun. there were a couple minutes there in the early mining craze and then later during the COVID shortage eras that pre-builts were a much more competitive option due to price hikes/unit availability iirc.
@@ky... building a PC has its fun sides
My advice when buying any pre-built PC with an ASUS MB and/or GPU. Buy one with the optional pre-installed Dry Powder Fire Extinguisher. Remember, you are purchasing a PC, not a toaster oven.
haha lol! speaking out of experience?
Thanks for your reply. This was a joke as I know of such an option. I do keep a small fire extinguisher nearby, just in case. Also, I placed a Thermal Sensor on my GPU's power connector. @@WeDoTech
