Funny how Nintendo of Japan comes down like Thor's Hammer on fan game creators claiming it's damaging their brand, but when it comes to their own co-companies ACTUALLY damaging their brand, they ignore it.
What are the odds that they are being lied too, or held hostage by activists in the Western branch, or forced to go down this route by large institutional activists investors or NGOs applying political pressure
To be fair to Nintendo of Japan, Pokémon GO is a 3rd party game. Niantic is an American company, Cali based so of course they're infected with the ideology.
I don't think Nintendo of Japan has much say in the game, though I wouldn't be shocked if Nintendo of America approved this, since their job listings indicate a desire to go woke for some unknown reason. Don't know what The Pokémon Company thinks about this or if they have any input.
That's the thing with Pokémon, it;s co-owned by three companies, Nintendo, Game Freak, and The Pokémon Company, so it's not like one company is the be all end all authority on what can and can't be done with the series.
No this blame is primarily on Niantic and maybe slightly on Nintendo of America, if anyone else.

@@jrrr9219 Nintendo are co-owners of the Pokémon company with Game Freak and a company called Creatures, they are also responsible for the puiblication of Pokémon games outside of Japan. They do have a significant stake in Pokémon and could likely throw some weight if they wanted to, but they aren't directly responsible for its brand management.

I personally think it's fine, the problem is with Consulting firms that include only a specific type of people like LGBTQ in this scenario because then the help they'll give will be made to please said specific group of people.

Keep your game to content you're familiar with and care about, or make your own original content for the worldbuilding. Nobody hires a consulting firm on how swords would actually be used, for example, the games that care about using swords correctly are made by people who are weapon nerds. And nobody bats an eye at swords being used wrong when it's not a hyper-realism battle simulator.
How does making the character's uglier make them more LGBT inclusive? That just seems like they're calling the LGBT community ugly, which is pretty homophobic and transphobic if you ask me.

Like I said before, if someone at this point keeps insisting it's not happening or it's not a big deal and refuses to educate themselves on the matter, then you have to assume they're knowingly contributing to the problem and know a lot more than they claim they do.

As a daily Pokemon GO player, I was surprised to see this a few weeks back because I checked my friends' avatars and they all looked normal. After watching this video, I immediately went to check again and had an update to install... When I reopened the game, they all looked like this, just hideous. I won't be spending any more money on this game.
All they had to do was nothing, and they couldn't even do that.
I deleted the app. I am done. It's whatever.
I’m trying to look into Pokemon home to see how transferring monsters work.
I was a long-time fan of Pokemon Go, but this update (among other devious practices by Niantic) convinced me that this game isn't worth my time any more. I decided to move my Pokemon to Home and I deleted this game.
I've been playing since launch and not only have they refused to fix the most glaring of playability issues (lag due to shit graphics optimization, device compatability issues, and trash GPS to list a few) now they shit all over the Avatars.
I finally uninstalled it and moved on to Palworld. God I hope Palworld makes a mobile game just to watch the loyalist trannies still with PoGo lose their shit.
Remember Jum (Or Team Latinite) posted a Pokemon Go video of how NOTORIOUSLY scammy Niantic is? The predatory practices and the amounts of unbearable locked paywalls they put out for Pokemon Go. Going as far as doing PAID RESEARCH. (Now this is a new low for Niantic.)

As a Pokémon fan, I really wish Niantic wasn’t in charge of Pokémon GO. GameFreak themselves is in charge of Pokémon Sleep and that one is doing much better and doesn’t have the same issues as GO.

The body proportions are customizable. The presets all suck but it is not impossible to make a nice looking avatar body wise. Wish the facial features were customizable as well
Imagine spending who knows how long in character customisation, making your character look just how you want them to look… and then the game updates, and without warning, your character now looks different, and not in a good way, and you can’t change it back

Yeah my husband and I dropped POGO as soon as this update dropped. His character has eternal baby face syndrome whilst mine looks like she got hit with the ugly stick too many times. Just to spit in Niantic's face a little more I maxed out the Chest and Hips slider to assert my need for sexier than me character models. 😂
The only way to circumvent the ugliness is to go to the extreme ends of the sliders. I minimized everything except maxing out shoulders for my male avatar. Even then, what I hate the most beyond the ugliness is the change in artistic design of how the model looks. It clashes with the aesthetic of how the Pokemon are designed. It’s like a designer for avatars from facebook’s metaverse decided that using the same bland and uninspired appearance there would suit a game like Pokemon Go that has a specific toon style. So it’s not just the avatar’s default ugliness. I found myself wanting to minimize the change to physical features altogether due to how visually jarring it was to the rest of the game.

People affected by this who spent real money on in game assets should consider a class action lawsuit. Not sure how valid it is to pursue. But by my thinking, the items you purchased are arguably no longer the items you have. They no longer fit as they did upon purchase. Some now clip through models meaning aside from the fit, the quality isn't what you once had when buying. I'm sure there's more ways to approach this but that's a surface level thought to start with.
This is probably one of the few times that I'd love to hear Nintendo sue a non-profit organization. I'd be surprised if they don't inevitably take some action.
To be honest, they probably won't. Nintendo isn't really in charge of Pokémon GO, so in a way Nintendo kinda just turns a blind eye to that game.
There's also the fact Niantic's American and.. well... let's just say Japan hates America now, which as much as this hurts American gamers who are genuine about gaming quality and preservation, I don't blame them.

For the madness to end moving towards the future, we need the Monado so that we can change the future and prevent more things like this from happening.

I can second this. I, too, rather customize a beautiful character than be forced to play an ugly one. In fact, I only pick the male option if they're hot like FE. Otherwise, I like the female option, especially if they come with cute clothes and elaborate hairstyles like older Pokemon or Union X.

Edit: Maybe requirement by the state likely, companies must adopt ESG and DEI and they also HAVE to engage with or contract/work with vendors that are run by ethnic or gender minorities, this allows activists to abuse their positions since merit or cost competition is not the deciding factor anymore.

I don’t think there’s any need for laws, though that might be the case (doubt it).
It’s more simply explained by the fact that if you set up chop there, you’ll likely recruit from there, and those places have hyper disproportionate rates of leftists and the kind of freaks that want to inject rainbow propaganda everywhere for the sake of muh representation or muh diversity. afaik in california the only thing that is required is for companies to disclose how much greenhouse gas emissions they create, and for investing companies to report what race/gender of the "founding members" of the companies they invested in are. Nothing about being forced to adopt esg or work with minorities.
However, they would discourage investors from investing in the game if they don't adopt DEI/ESG standards. There are some that are legit for "the message", and there are some who is just pretending to support "the message" for money. Just stupid that something like this has this much power over something that people do as a hobby.

im hearing alot about this being the most insulting for disabled and trans rights in the discords. i continue hearing the dysphoria from both sides explaining the weight scaler, saying no one at that max weight is utilizing pokemon go as it should function when you have to walk a minimum of 12km for rare eggs, as well as no remote passes for those who have physical disablities. the other side explains the anima/animus dysmorphia they go through due to these unnecessary changes. it is in fact harmful to gender integrity as well as them removing any form of eastern identity

They could have added new customization without fucking up all the old models... the ideas for the update were good, but the execution was awful.
What's absolutely incredible is that they didn't need to change anything at all. The avatars were fine. They weren't *good* but they were fine for what they needed to be. I've never once played a Pokemon game and thought "Man, I wish my character looked less cool so it'd be closer to my appearance."
You would think that Niantic would learn after seeing how Volition shut down because of "consultants" like GaymerX. But I guess corporations never really do think ahead.
