The argument is that the game/service provider is denying you the very service you paid for based on their own EULA which is not legally enforcable. This is usually a nuclear option tho since the provider will essentially try to blacklist you forever as a future customer, but it might be worth it I guess? It's because trillion dollar financial institutions will give better loans to companies with higher diversity scores. Consulting with an 'LGBT focused consulting company' improves their diversity.
It's called ESG scores. Investors will either not loan out money to companies with low ESG scores, or will loan money with higher interest rates, directly impacting profits.
So there's probably some statistic that makes this profitable. If they lose X amount of revenue from an annoyed playerbase quitting the game, but they get more money back through better loans thanks to an improved ESG score, then this move is 100% profitable and they'll continue doing it.

To be frank, their bio tags were a red flag that the replies would be blocked before the end of the day. The company dropped an update that is universally hated for spoiling avatars people invested years into, so you KNOW you are going to get people that are not in the mood to be respectful, and with GaymerX being involved, i imagine Kestrel got arbitrarily blamed

However. I feel obligated to point out something regarding Monster Hunter Now, since you brought it up.
      Average daily player-count.
Monster Hunter Now is not exactly heavily played globally. With it having an average daily player count around 60k. With the majority of those players being in Asian markets.
Pokemon go averages 10 times that globally. With roughly 200k players from North America alone, daily. (About 600k globally.)
The number of players, and the regions those players are in matters.
The bulk of players for Monster Hunter Now are in Asian nations, where these changes wouldn't be allowed by Government agencies and wouldn't be accepted at all by the players.
While for Pokemon Go, half the playerbase is of a Western audience, so such changes can get made or implemented.
Note. To my knowledge these graphical changes were NOT applied to Chinese, Korean or Japanese versions of Pokemon Go.

@@fullstackweebdev4855 nah you're wrong with Pokémon being a dead brand. Their strong merch sales are still their bread and butter, the games are just there as backbone for the merch sales which is quite sad. Poketubers are still thriving from the games. Rather, TPC has to slap Niantic to the face with this blunder. But it's naive to say TPC didn't have some say to the decision so my theory is they're doing this as a social experiment. Pokemon GO has lost steam. Sure it still has a large community but it's never gonna beat the mainline games.

Non-profit doesn't mean they work for free. In fact, non-profits often make stupid amounts of money. They just balance their books at the end of the fiscal year so that they don't record an annual profit. Theoretically they would do this by reinvesting the profit back into the company in the form of better benefits/pay or employees, donate to charities, etc. In reality they just give the executives at the company big bonuses and hide money in other bank accounts and businesses they own.
Non-profits are a gold mine of scammy bad business practices, which is why politicians love them.
