Take a video at Houston St. The 2/3 there go around 50mph, up to 60 very occasionally. Other great places to get fast trains in my experience include Astor Place-Cooper Union for the 4/5, 86 St for the A/D on CPW, 23 St on the 2/3, Woodhaven Blvd on the E/F and others.
I don't know what this train's secret is to mega speed. I've ridden long express stretches on trains like the 4/5, A/D, D/N, and I have to say few trains ever go 55. The ones where they do are Flushing Express 7 and Queens Blvd Express E/F, where they go around 48 and sometimes 55. 2/3 usually go 42-49, but can break 50 easily.
There's a timer on the s/b express track halfway through the station at 50th. Once I was on a s/b 3 that was doing 47 mph when it reached 50th, and it kept right on going!

Woodhaven blvd is one of my favorites.
A/D on CPW is a hit or miss. It sometimes can run slowly but when its from 81-110th(?) it runs very fast as well.
NB 4th Ave Express at 4th Ave 9th street
All the stations between 14 st union square and brooklin brige on the 456 zoom past there frfe
@@kaheebrice6834 They do. Same thing Chambers-14 n/b on the 2/3, exception of Christopher they reach 45-55

There is a decline between 59 and 50 the help them pick up speed
@@tfp_4215Oh I see is that why only the downtowns reach 50-57 like the N/R/W between Queensboro Plaza and Lex-59 its even steeper they can go 60+
Beautiful Subway video
Thank you! 🙏

Yeah some T/O’s only slow down when they see a red timer signal
Some can pull 55!
Must be going 50-55
They going about 35-45 mph here.
@@tfp_4215 this is actually 45-50 mph here. Some trains definitely pushed 50 mph here
Timed signals start a little more than a train length below 50 st going downtown. The first one allows for about 40mph.
No derailment 96 st

Show 4 and 5 your might!
Hey, don't disrespect the 4/5. They're also very very fast. But yes 2/3 are exceptional.
@@lightning77125 Number 1 rule. Don’t disrespect the subway. PERIOD!
@@kingofthelight8260 Unless it's the NQRW
@@lightning77125 what’s wrong with them? Is it because of the R46 swap?
@@kingofthelight8260 Caused by that, yes. N/Q are now super slow express and R/W have always been slow local even with R160
