Welcome to this expedition to the heart of Reunion Island, where I venture to its summit: the Piton des Neiges. In this nocturnal expedition, I share with you the wonders of nature and the challenges of altitude.
🌠 Nocturnal ascent:
I begin my journey from the plains, by starlight, up the steep slopes of Piton des Neiges. Darkness envelops me as I make my way along the winding paths.
🌄 Breathtaking sunrise :
My goal? To reach the summit before dawn to admire a spectacular sunrise. The sun's rays, filtered through the atmosphere, paint the sky in shades of orange and red, offering a breathtaking panorama of the island.
🌿 Diversity of Flora:
As I climb, I discover the richness of Reunion's vegetation. From rainforests to sub-alpine moors, each ecosystem is home to a unique biodiversity, including many endemic species.
🐦 Wildlife Encounters:
The nocturnal fauna reveals itself as I progress. From crickets to endemic birds such as the Pei Robin, each encounter is an invitation to explore the diversity of wildlife.
🔍 Scientific exploration:
As well as adventure, I'm also interested in the science behind altitude and natural phenomena. From experiments on atmospheric pressure to explanations of sunrise colours, every detail is explored and explained.
