You have to add tahini paste for an authentic hummus and THAT IS SO NOT HOW YOU MAKE FALAFEL!!!
RECIPE TO A TRADITIONAL LEBANESE FALAFEL:
I've got no measurements sorted out as my grandma does this to sight and taste later on but here are the ingredients:
For Falafel:
- Chickpeas
- Dried coriander
- Powdered Cumin
- Powdered Cayenne Pepper
- Salt & Pepper
- Chopped Onion & Garlic (Optional, not usually added)
- Fava beans (optional)
Condiments for the sandwich:
- Flatbread
- Tomatoes
- Parsley
For Yogurt-Tahini paste:
- Yogurt
- Tahini Paste (can be found in any Arab-delights importing store)
- Lemon
- Garlic clove (if desirable)
Directions:
1. Soak the chickpeas in water overnight
2. Peel the chickpeas and put them in a mixer
3. Add the dried coriander, cumin, cayenne, salt and pepper to the mixture until it's smooth
4. Place the mixture in a bowl and cover it. Let it rest for half an hour
5. Crumble the falafel mixture into small balls and fry them for a couple of minutes in fryer/pot/deep pan full of vegetable oil
6. Prep the yogurt-tahini sauce that you drizzle over the falafel by:
a. grinding a garlic clove
b. add tahini paste and a bit of water
c. Finely mix them together until ingredients are incorporated and then add a bit of yogurt
d. Add salt and pepper to taste
7. Place the falafel on the flatbread and add tomatoes, pickled cucumbers, minced parsley and drizzle the tahini-yogurt paste (you can add hot sauce/paste if you wish).
And that's it! Sahtein (bon appetit)
@@ashleysantacruz8173 it does say "classic hummus" so ummmm
THANK YOU
ashley santacruz But it says 'classic hummus' and that is not classic hummus. Plus falafels are gluten free because you use raw chickpeas and chickpea flour (although youcan use regular flour BUT NEVER BREAD CRUMBS) only leave them soaked in water overnight and then you process them raw. You don't use cooked chickpeas and add bread crumbs.............
@@someguythatexists5099 I'm Lebanese. I kinda know what classic hummus is since I come from the country that created it lol
@@CarolKhalekMusic Yeah it's over all a Levantine thing and we've been having it for centuries in Syria, we thank you for your contribution.
*I can't stop wiggling to this music*
😂
Same!
Hahaha I thought it was just me
I was wondering about the name

Shi yali janani, enou kel el Mediterranean kelou maa leayou Ila all Lebanon, lek w el Maghreb el 3arabi WL couscous!
Hleyhel nagham but that’s not how Fatoush, Hummus and falafel are made in the Mediterranean. They fucked up all the recipes. L3ama b2albon shu 7amir.
I know these food are not prepared in the right way, ma bi2assir 5alina nseyeron chway😂
Just the fattoush is Lebanese but the falafel and hummus are from the syrian cuisine and that's how we do it
I think you guys should rename the title as "Mediterranean *inspired* recipes" and also add "inspired" next time you post any regional recipes otherwise people will keep getting offended and complain.
I agree too...I'm Arabian and these foods are what I sometimes eat ...
if you get offended about someone trying to make food from your home country then I think you need to rethink about your priorities. people making food that isn't from their culture isn't offensive, it's them trying to learn something new. everyone is so sensitive these days
@@sarahibrahmi It's not from my culture, hun. The whole comment section is filled with people complaining about the inaccurate recipes that's why I just suggested an idea. I also feel like they have every right to be offended over the misrepresentation of their culture.
@@zo.yeahhhZøe I know you were just being considerate which is actually nice of you as most people aren't these days. true it might be a little off but not to the point where it's offensive. at the end of the day, there isn't a set of specific guidelines telling you exactly how to make these recipes, everyone has their take on it.
@@sarahibrahmi Also true 👍
I grew up in a Lebanese family... my mom used to make these all the time and trust me that is not how falafel is suppose to be, or hummus, or fattouch
I think it's Turkish food - Turkish Recipes... Not sure
It's syrian arab recepies
they’re mediterranean dishes, i’m lebanese and i know that mediterranean dishes come from all countries surrounding the mediterranean sea. like obviously i don’t know how close minded ppl are these days it’s just common sense and facts
These are not falafel
This is not fattouch
And that is definitely NOT hummus
🤦🏼♀️
Lol
Of course, read the captions.
Amen
I totally agree! I’m Lebanese and none of this Is Mediterranean
I 100% agree cause i am arab and i know how hummus is smooth and falafel is crunchy
When you are Mediterranean and all you think it's "that needs more garlic"
Also wtf is allspice
Allspice is very popular lol.
When you are Mediterranean and all you think is "there are no recipes from my country"
@@blancaah6 oof
@@blancaah6 when you aren't mediterranean and you know all of these recipes will be just Tasty trying to get people to like their videos because they incorporate popular dish names or main ingredients into some westernized recipe.
Allspice is a type of pepper...
Now I know how Italians feel when the rest of the world tries to cook pizza 🤦♀️

Some people here needs to open a geography book. Mediterranean doesn’t mean Europe. Middle Eastern food can still be considered Mediterranean.
According to Wikipedia : The countries surrounding the Mediterranean in clockwise order are Spain, France, Monaco, Italy, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Albania, Greece, Turkey, Syria, Lebanon, Israel/Palestine, Egypt, Libya, Tunisia, Algeria, and Morocco; Malta and Cyprus are island countries in the sea.
EDIT : According to Wikipedia not me ffs.
Arabs (including me) would change the Israel to Palestine. It offends Arabs seeing they add that. I’m just giving you a heads up before other Arabs start to bash you. Plus I’m Palestinian and I’m not trying to start a argument but can you please change it?
You forgot Sudan, but okay
Fatima Zahra Vlogs Sudan is bordered by the Red Sea not the Mediterranean Sea...
What? No tahina in the hummus and CUMIN!
And WHAT did you add to the falafel???
Sesame oil it's almost like Tahina
@@The..Butterfly..Effect Ok, then you trying making halwa (halvah) with sesame oil instead of tahina, good luck to you.
What they did can be named anything but not Flafel !!!!!!!!!
@@mwk1413 What?
This looks delish! Love making healthy Mediterranean meals. Thanks for this video!
Moroccan and Spanish food are an absolute top for me so so good i love those 2 countries and their history
The best thing about Mediterranean food is how it smells ❤
No actual arab peels their chickpeas to make hummus or put breadcrumbs in their falafel lol
But this isn’t about Arabia
@@steviedavidson5130 these foods are mostly food from Syria, Lebanon, Palestine and Jordan.
Inferno Tube Arabs ain’t only in Arabia lol
Nori zyx but there are actual Arabs there and that was so long ago anyway the culture is all similar now they speak same language and everything
@@steviedavidson5130 it is if u have any idea where these dishes come from
I’m Mediterranean actually and these foods are ones I eat often
Nothing beats Middle Eastern food 😋😋
Yes, we all know these recipes aren't very accurate. But some of you guys are saying this is Arab, not Mediterranean. Foods like Falafel existed in the Mediterranean Levant countries like Syria, Lebanon, and Palestine, and also countries like Egypt wayyy before they ever became Arab people.
So yes, this is MEDITERRANEAN!
faROCK03 nope arab😁
@@leanneatout493 do you know what's Mediterranean food?
Actually Hummas was first record by an Arab Chef “Al-Baghdadi” in his cook book “Kitab Al-Tabikh” in Abbasid Era! Hummas is an Arab word for chickpeas!
Falafel didn’t existed until the Ottoman era by Egyptian Coptic!
Mediterranean means countries such as Greece, Italy, Southern Spain, Malta, Syria, Lebanon, northern Egypt and Palestine! Tell me exactly do these Spanish, Italians and Greek eat Hummus or Falafel despite they are Arab given names?
Pro Mediterranean tip: don’t follow any of these recipes.
I don't care about "rules", I care about great tasting food. Ergo, your "tip" is irrelevant to me.
ACS402010 it won’t be great tasting food if u follow these recipes...
True man
Exactly 💀
Screw you Furat!
the music in the background is something else.
any one knows what it is?
Hozaifa I think it’s an original, definitely inspired by middle-eastern music but it’s a remix . I know a few like this but a bit traditional
@@mahasaud2033 I know this is old, but could you tell us some of the things you think is similar to this?
I'm interested in such this kind of hybrid of genres, and Arabic inspired soundtracks.
I'm a Syrian cook, from Aleppo and still living here. You get an A+ from me.
P.S. that Shawarma is excellent.
I'm from Algeria and thought they did a great job with the chicken too !
shawarma ? arab version of doner ?

doner is stacked with meat, usually lamb.
Shawarma is made with chicken breast

Its not just Lebanese its also syrian Palestinian jordanian and etc
Doesn't Hummus require Tahini?
it dose they dont know ho to make it
Tahini is an expensive ingredient to buy especially for a recipe you may not make very often. I’ve read so many complaints about how these recipes aren’t authentic. The purpose is to try something new with ingredients that are readily available. Maybe more people will try that new Lebanese or Greek restaurant that opens up. I miss living in the North East because I can’t get the vast variety of food I’m used to. I just wish people could appreciate the effort.
@@msdarkstar44 1.) I made a general comment questioning that "authentic hummus" is made with Tahini. Because this is a comment section.
2.) I don't know where you shop at where Tahini is expensive but where I live you can get a decent har for around $10.
3.) I have no clue what/where this new Greek or Lebanese restaurant is opening up at here in New Orleans. Or where a restaurant even popped up in your mind for people to try.
4.) So please next time don't take a comment so seriously.
Have a great day.
Ronald Ruiz Jr try not to be so butt hurt about someone responding to your comment because obviously you missed the point. Try some reading comprehension and stop responding with emotions.
@@msdarkstar44 tahini isn't expensive at all

Iran doesnt have falafel tho. But then again persia is a pretty individual country
