This was very helpful to know, was thinking of getting this very bike, but now I'm reconsidering. KTM has always something going on with their bikes.Never heard anything missing or going wrong with a Japanese bike. Thank you for sharing.
Hi, I have a 2024 500 six days, and in my manual it's only 1 oil screen, the long one
I hav the bike for 4 months 8 oil changes, normal service and absolutely no problem
The back lights is mounted by local dealer, because KTM send all bikes without footpegs, rear lights +
All these are mounted by your local dealer

I am still suffering PTSD from 3 years & 15,000 miles of 690r Enduro ownership.
I just did my first oil change today. There is no short filler according to the manual and if you look at that bolt it’s only a green o ring and no place for a filter. If you even tried to put a filter there it would go into your bottom end and that would be bad bad bad.
That sounds like all dealer man! I hope you've contacted them immediately bro.

Have the same bike, I emailed KTM and got a response almost immediately and they said that the 2024 does not have the short oil screen and they apologized for the oversight in the 2024 manual. They said that the short oil screen will fit the 2024, but the bike does not come with it and it is not recommended or necessary.

Easy, take it easy. The wiring yes go get them to replace the wiring. The filter screen do some research before stressing.

I had the same issue on my 2022 with the foot pegs, I did the same thing you did. In regards the oil screen on the bottom I would say that’s from factory. KTM dealers all have a check list that go by. Call your dealer,Good luck.

Just bought the same bike yesterday…. Break in oil change missing my short lower filter also. Same kickstand issue with the pin being backwards. My taillight harness wasn’t pinched but they hooked up the turn signals backwards.
Page 137 owner's manual said it has a short oil screen would not ride the bike without one !
There's no oil screens at the bottom on the new 2024s.
Who did you hear that from the owners manual said there is one ? 🤔 I'm calling the dealer today to get an answer.
My KTM mechanic says he puts them in for particle protection but KTM did say it's not required on 2024 modules bro.😅
Dealer told me it was deleted on 2024. My manual also says it’s in there, but it was eliminated. My dealer called KTM to confirm this.

Here is a cut and paste of the email I received from KTM regarding the oil screen: Hi Kenneth,
I'm responding to your submission about the oil screen and plug configuration on your 2024 500 EXC-F Six Days. The short oil screen listed in the manual is actually a misprint left over from the previous model's configuration. Although a short oil screen can fit in there, it isn't necessary or included in the OEM configuration or recommendations for your motorcycle. I apologize for the confusion created by the error in the manual.
I just changed the oil in my 2024 KTM 500 EXC-F and it was missing the small oil screen. I called the dealer and they didn't know anything about it, and the service manager would call me on Monday.

Heard of a dealer who install the oil filter in a Norden 901 wrong and it cooked the motor. They replaced the motor but guess he wanted a whole new bike. I think he got what he wanted after. But poor simple maintenance from dealers is brutal these days.
The manual said it gets one and the parts screen said it didn't get one so it was confirmed by ktm that there is no short oil screen in the 2024 500exc-f.
I have worked on my own bikes since I was a kid ! I don't trust people working on my stuff, so if anything happens, it's my mistake unless it's a manufacturer defects like this airbox! I got on my 2024 ktm 500exc-f hole other story.

Jesus man!! If you mentioned the black bolt and screen once you mentioned it a thousand times.
The black bolt is magnetic and picks up any metal debris from the engine.
There are two filters on the bike the one you mentioned that you've been doing for decades and a lower screen to pick up any fine fragments.
Why haven't you just spoken to the dealer and ask them about the screen at the bottom that you keep banging on about.
Stop stressing and enjoy your bike.
There is no screen or filter on the bottom plug. Refer to the online owner's manual that KTM provides.
I have the new updated one has it but when the 2024 bike came out it didn't have the information on that issue so you are welcome ! Now it dose ! I have it in print as well as online the bike has a few more issues if you live in the U.S. with all the EPA stuff that is required by the USA . SMOG AND REEDS IN THE AIRBOX ! See the other videos to learn more ! enjoy the bike after all that stuff is fixed the bike runs well !

i do them every 3 rides no matter what ! when the oil looks darker .
