WE’RE JASON AND NIKKI WYNN. A couple of explorers, modern-day documentarians, and cultivators of curiosity.
We’ve been chasing our curiosity around the world on wheels and keels since 2011. Why? Because curiosity is the key to unlocking life. It pushes us outside our comfort zone, softens our assumptions, and helps us embrace the great unknown. The more we let our curiosity lead the way, the more we discover about ourselves and the world around us.
    Things We're Most Curious About...
    GETTING OFF-GRID
Our home is also our transportation and we spend weeks away from civilization and sometimes land. So self-reliance and sustainable living are a must. We've learned heaps about renewable energy, managing waste, creating safe drinking water and foraging for food. We carefully manage our resources and we’re always looking for new and better ways to do so.
    TALKING TO STRANGERS
People are busy (even on remote islands) and travelers are a dime a dozen. It takes time to talk to strangers, and even more time to have a real connection. Going the extra mile to get to know someone is a commitment.
Which is why these are our most treasured experiences. Setting off into the world with curiosity as our guide and nature as our compass. We talk to strangers and accept hospitality without fear or reservations. Both giving and receiving.
    ALTERNATIVE LIVING
These are people who are doing things differently. Forgoing the mainstream, seeking freedom and living on the margins. Creative, unique and inspiring people who challenge our ideas of home and community.
Our journey is ever-evolving but the mission remains the same: #CultivateCuriosity

Hi Rui from Portugal, as I’m sure you would know. It was the Portuguese who brought the Cashew from South America, initially into India Goa etc. the. It spread throughout Asia and Africa at this time. The Portuguese of course traded Spices all across Asia many many years before The Dutch, The English. The Spanish were sort of on their heals after Magalhães sailed on their behalf after being refused by the Portuguese King Manuel 1 the Fortunate, if I’m not wrong.
Go Portugal, tough as - Descobradors. They changed the World as it was, to the World we have today (Go the Order of Christ might I say).
And Raul is a gem, what a Human, Sir, I tips my hat to ya.

What Raul is doing not only provides jobs and a paycheck for his employees, it also shows that there are ways to think outside the box to other would be entrepreneurs there. The Philippine people were some of the nicest folks I met in my navy travels and I love that they are finding ways to make it a better place for everyone. This was the most fun video that I have seen in quite awhile. Raol made this so interesting and humorous. Enjoyed it thoroughly. If I could like it twice (or 10x), I would.

In Brazil we have cashew plantations and we pick them from the tree, not from the ground, the fruit is used for frozen juice and the chestnut, after roasting, we eat with salt as if it were peanuts. I've been eating it since I was little and I don't know anyone who has had an allergy or poisoning problem.

Inside the shelf covering the nuts has a liquid like an acid that when it gets into your skin you get scar from it,it burning your skin, that is why you need to be careful to break the shelf and it is really needs to put on fire to break the shelf from the nuts❤

@nathannixslade Plantation crops are different. The trees are arranged in orderly rows on mostly level ground with clean underbrush, machines can go through easily every harvest. This video have wild cashews growing haphazardly with wild undergrowth. The pickers are not employees and I think they rather pick the nuts from the ground than climb to pick the fruits because of the extra hassle of handling the useless fruits and of course the climbing. In the future, when what Raul said that they will use the fruit, maybe it is worth climbing for the fruit.

A multi-level locally-owned business from the (literal) ground up - this was fascinating! Many thanks to you for a story as educational as it is entertaining; and many, many thanks to Raul for courageously letting us all have a peek at his enterprises. (The true enterprising spirit: finding a product and a market for what was previously considered wastage - kudos!)

Raul is a most fascinating and wise man.
    A wonderful Mentor and entrepreneur.
His benevolent nature is amazing, and he should be considered the Ambassador of Cashews.
I had no idea they were such a process. He certainly explains it so thoroughly and comprehensively that it makes reasonable sense regarding their costs.
I wish Raul a great deal of success!
A very educational video you're lucky to be able to have these experiences, your lives are enviable.
AND, I will never look at cashews the same again without reverence for their process.
    😊
