As a retired htg eng, just watched this programme for entertainment, 1st class, learned bundles, tiling for me always a pain, in my own house I always recess radiator tails in wall, saves cutting floor covering materials tiles, carpet etc, no obstructions for skirting installation, vacuum, mops etc, I’m now hooked on your series, as a heating engineer, i am only a handyman Plumber, an aspect I have trouble explaining to folk, look forward to more.

Watching this video has confirmed that I will not be tiling my own floor. You made this very clear and straightforward-however, your skillset is not mine. Much respect for the level of detail involved with this work. I will happily pay a professional for my project. Many thanks! Cheers:)

I was always told that you should only scribe once to keep the cut perfectly straight. Admittedly I was training with an expert professional tiler though. It would normally be at huge mansions or hotel lobbies etc. You could barely see which was the cut edge. The wet blade and snap cutter he always used were made by Rubi which are pretty expensive. Since then I’ve tiled many kitchens and bathrooms and this video is pretty much the way I do it. Harder than it looks and correct adhesive for subfloor is vital. Great video as always.

Thanks. A good watch. If I may just stick my two penneth in then screwing a batten to the floor where your laser line is helps a lot as you can then just butt the tiles up to the batten without fear of them "crossing the line". Even though we all love to cross the line at times😬

Being a plumber has changed over the years. There was a time when tiling would never be done by the plumber. But to do a complete job these skills have to learnt. Conversely. Lead flashings, zinc gutters, and that kinda roof work has been given up to the roofing boys. And they are welcome to it. I'm not getting up ladders anymore.

For a novice; this is better than most, so called proffesionals. Well one.
As a carpet fitter ( normally, come in after any tiling job ); you fitted the tiles, too far into the door jam.
I see 99% of tiles or laminates in the wrong place.
If their is a threshold strip fitted, then work up to that ( as long as it is under the door and nothing is being changed afterwards)
If a carpet is to be fiited, with a door bar, then this HAS to go under the door; so it is not on show, when the door is closed.
    NO options.
As said; you done a great job and I like the tile things that you used :)
    Well Don
    Don

At 9:15 you marked around the waste pipe and two copper pipes, then you marked and cut out the necessary shape. You seemed to get a good smooth semi-circle to fit the waste pipe. Can someone tell me how to get a good cut like this please. I have seen a hand tile saw. Not sure if they work well? Multiple cuts with the electric tile saw will not necessarily give a smooth finish.
