      Gran Canaria is less touristy outside of the southern part of the island. Las Palmas in GC is a city of 450,000 so you’re able to get everything that you need. I understand a holiday in Tenerife, but Gran Canaria is a better place to live.oh, the weather is rather similar on both islands, cooler and wetter in the north. GC has slightly higher temps in the winter as it lies more south. The other islands are great for vacations as they are less developed, but not super interesting to live all year. They can be somewhat isolated. I’d suggest Gran Canaria for the best island to settle.

    Love the island. Just came back from playa taurito (three weeks ago)for the second time in two years. A tiny little cove right next to mogan. First year we visited mogan and was blown away, mogan was right next to taurito but cause of a rock fall on the cliff we had to drive right out to amadores to come back into mogan, rather than a half hour walk round tge cliff, it was lovely and so authentic to the Canary island. This year we went to p. Rico and I didn’t really enjoy that, much prefer taurito and mogan. We are going to fuerteventura next year but will be back to Gran Canaria for the 3rd time. Maspolomas next time I think.

    Same conclusion as you @The MacMaster after I returned from GC last night.
    I highly recommend when you return to go and see Pico de las Nieves and Tejeda in the mountains as well as the beautiful fishing village in the North (15 minutes from Las Palmas) Puerto de las Nieves.
    And when you return to Mógan, which is indeed stunning and a highlight (also according to the mrs.), you have to go there by boat from the Puerto Rico Harbour. Every hour with Blue Dolphin at €6 and it is truely an experinece in many ways.

    • @jameswalker6864
      @jameswalker6864 Před 2 lety

      How can Gran Canarias offer more landscape variety when it is all like a dessert with little to no vegetation? Tenerife has more green, much bigger forest, with more vegetation and higher mountains like Teide. As Tenerife combines both great forest with enormous beaches in the south, it has the most variety in terms of landscape. Gran Canaria has very few green in it, you hardly can do senderism there.

There is a lot of more to explore and dont forget - where the light is , there is shadow too. Does any Barkeeper can live from his job ? dont think so. too many of them. and when you look these fantastic vlogs with open eyes you´ll see there are not many peoples sitting in these restaurants. Hard business. But anyway- Lee , i love your vlogs and im really looking forward to see more exploring Vids.....MANY THANKS and the best wishes !

    • @jameswalker6864

      Tenerife has better forest and more vegetation, while Gran Canaria is all the same like a dessert. Subsequently, it logically follows that Tenerife¡s landscape is more varied. Tenerife has better baeaches in the south (Las Americas, Arona, etc.): and that explains why Tenerife has way more tourists than Las Palmas.

When in Gran canaria as a family we looked at flights to Tenerife too. Kids weren't amused we weren't in Tenerife 😂 Both fab islands but my heart is in Tenerife. Gran canaria water parks are rubbish too 😁 Have Tenerife booked as a family in August and Gran canaria as a couple in February again (Gran canaria is so much cheaper for holidays 🤷‍♀️😂)

    Tenerife or Gran Canaria? The thing with the Canary islands is that they are all different from each other which is a good thing. It would be very boring if they were all too similar so I could never compare, and is the exact reason we change islands every winter holiday, to have something different. For me, nightlife on both is good depending on what you like. Yes there are more comedy acts around the Costa Adeje/Las Americas areas than anywhere else so Tenerife would win on that. Gran Canaria has amazing beaches so would win there. Then you have Lanzarote and Fuerteventura. Lanzarote is an amazing island to drive around, and the most amazing landscape, as is Fuerteventura. Lanzarote is more volcanic, similar beaches to Tenerife whereas Fuerteventura has miles and miles of sandy beaches all round the island, again both very different. My thoughts are that if they were all similar you could then compare. As they are so different from each other it's impossible to compare like for like. My advice is go to them all regularly and enjoy them for what they offer, and that's because.....they're different. Tenerife is to you Lee what Alcudia in Majorca is to me, our first love so I get where you're coming from. And although we always make a point of going other places on the Spanish mainland, Benidorm (which has the best entertainment you can get anywhere including Costa Adeje), Torremolinos & Benalmadena as well as other places like Albufeira in Portugal, Protaras in Cyprus and Agios Nikolaos in Crete, Alcudia and Majorca in general will never be far from our thoughts.
