SWISSVIEW, TI - Passo del Lucomagno

Der Lukmanierpass (it. Passo del Lucomagno, rät. Pass dil Lucmagn, 1’914 m ü. M.) verbindet die Kantone Graubünden (Gemeinde Medel) und Tessin (Ortschaft Olivone in der Gemeinde Blenio).
Die Strasse führt von Disentis durch das Val Medel über die Passhöhe durch das Bleniotal nach Biasca. Der Lukmanierpass trennt das Gotthardmassiv von den Adula-Alpen. Über den Pass verläuft die Europäische Wasserscheide.
Der Lukmanierpass galt früher als wichtigste Nord-Süd-Verbindung der Schweiz, bevor er diese Rolle an Gotthard- und Splügenpass verlor. 1374 errichtete das Kloster unterhalb der Passhöhe ein der Heiligen Maria geweihtes Hospiz. 1964 mussten Hospiz und Kapelle dem Stausee weichen. Beide wurden an der Passstrasse wieder aufgebaut. Vom Pass aus kann man über den Passo dell’ Uomo (2’218 m ü. M.) ins Val Piora wandern, an dessen Ende der Stausee Lago Ritom liegt.

The Lukmanier Pass (Italian: Passo del Lucomagno; Romansh: Pass dil Lucmagn; 1,914 m above sea level) connects the cantons of Graubünden (municipality of Medel) and Ticino (Olivone, in the municipality of Blenio).
The road runs from Disentis through the Val Medel valley, across the pass summit, and through the Bleniotal valley to Biasca. The Lukmanier Pass separates the Gotthard Massif from the Adula Alps. The European Watershed runs across the pass.
The Lukmanier Pass used to be the most important north-south connection in Switzerland, before it had to relinquish this role to the Gotthard and Splügen Passes. In 1374, the convent below the pass summit set up a mountain hostel dedicated to St. Mary. In 1964, both the hostel and the chapel had to make way for the reservoir. Both were rebuilt by the pass road. From the pass, it is possible to hike across the Passo dell' Uomo (2,218 m above sea level) to the Val Piora valley. At the end of that valley lies the reservoir Lago Ritom.
