SWISSVIEW, GR - Septimerpass

Der Septimerpass (2’310 m ü. M.) war schon in der Römerzeit ein bedeutender Alpenübergang zwischen den Tälern Oberhalbstein und Bergell, wurde aber nie als neuzeitliche Fahrstrasse ausgebaut. Von Norden her erreicht man ihn vom Bündner Dorf Bivio (1’769 m ü. M.) an der Julierpassstrasse, von Süden aus von Casaccia (1’458 m ü. M.) im italienischsprachigen Südbündner Bergell-Tal. In Richtung Süden thronen über dem Val Maroz der Piz Lizun (2’518 m ü. M.) und die Pizzi di Maroz (2’599 m ü. M.).

The Septimer Pass (2,310 m above sea level) has been an important Alpine crossing between the two valleys of Oberhalbstein and Bergell since Roman times, but it has not been enlarged to be used as a modern road. From the north, it is accessible from the Graubünden village of Bivio (1,769 m above sea level) via the Julier Pass road, from the south it can be reached from Casaccia (1,458 m above sea level) in the Bergell, the Italian-speaking valley in the southern part of Graubünden. Towards the south, above the Val Maroz valley tower the Piz Lizun (2,518 m above sea level) and the Pizzi di Maroz (2,599 m above sea level).
