I really appreciate the crash course on what to do after you hit a parked car that you included after the incident in the video, you don't often get told what you need to do when something like that happens and the other driver's not present
Presuming you are not a scumbag.
Its not rocket science what to do FFS.
Leave your name and real phone number on the windscreen with the word SORRY.
@@sahhull No, "Sowwy :( "
I was surprised you managed to get your number plates changed to that cloned car from Dorset so quickly. Good thinking though
I thought the thing to do was "drive off quickly". That's what happens whenever my car has been hit.
@@BibtheBoulder You need to check for witnesses first
From what I have seen in other YT videos is you stop, get out to assess the damage of your vehicle first then pretend to be interested in the damage of the other vehicle but really you are looking around to see if anyone saw it. If they did, leave a note that says âSorryâ or âOopsâ then drive off. If nobody saw it then drive off quickly before anyone does see you đđ
Okay, you got me. That was insanely tight
Me too, duh! ;)
Me three đ
Grrrr! đ
Hook, line and sinker đ€Ł
Spoiler! Didnât get me but only because I read this comment.
Oh goodness Ash, you got me real good there! I was actually getting ready to write how honest and noble of you to admit to everyone that you hit a parked car! Good one. I bet you saved that video for a while. I will be on higher alert for April 1st 2024.
Morning Ibrahim. That clip as with all of them was captured in March, I only thought about the Aprils fool in editing. Glad I did! Have a good weekend đ
@@ibs5080 spoiler alert Mrs Webb is actually Dean Martin đ
@@thomaselliot2257 Actually yes, I saw a corresponding video which is in a tv studio, for the same sketch. And sure enough, Dean Martin is there with Bob Newhart. I have known about this sketch for decades but only today learned of the Dean Martin connection.
Side Comment: Dean Martin once saw an ad that said "Drink Canada Dry". So he went there...and did!
@@ibs5080 sorry to spoil it for you đ I remember hearing Dean's "drink Canada dry" joke years ago đ I once read his biography back in 2006 written by his daughter.
@@thomaselliot2257 Not spoiling for me at all Thomas. I actually thought it was Mike Yarwood that made the Canada Dry joke but I'm likely mistaken.
Your student at 9:50 never speaking but answering your questions perfectly with actions is brilliant.
The conversation with the white van man at the lights was absolutely priceless Ash! Especially when accompanied with your cheerful facial expressions and thumbs up to the errant driver whilst telling him you are a driving instructor and how terrible his own driving was! You made my day there!
errant?
@@janemccarthy8452 Oh goodness, I didn't spot that till you mentioned it now. I must have been on an errand. Obviously an errant errand! I will amend it. Well spotted and Thank you. I'm guessing you are also a very observant driver.
didn't get anything from what the guy was saying. can you help me with that?
@@Cat0620he says "step by step youre gonna be ready." referring to driving lessons, thinking Ashley is a learner himself because of the box on the car.
That last one does sum it up perfectly - as soon as the indicator came on, he closed the gap despite it being the most illogical and unproductive move he could make. As you said right the way through, 'read the script'. People can gainsay it all they want but certain types of vehicle have red flags all over them before you even see the type of driving - and then they go and confirm the stereotype.
And it makes absolutely zero sense. What if it was a learner who would make a mistake and actually change lane and hit the van. Very unlikely to happen as the driving instructor should be paying attention to absolutely everything and would verbally tell the pupil not to or take control over.
But why take this risk as a driver and literally put your vehicle into a risk zone when you were fine where you were lol.
Mostly luxury cars. Sometimes also the very cheapest of cars
Used to work in car insurance, there is genuinely a general personality type for every popular car đ
Jack's gotta be the best driver you've had on this channel. Please do a catch up with him after a year!
Second this!
Careful Ash, there's such a thing as tempting fate. I told someone I'd been accident free for 10 years and 300-400k miles. The next day I was explaining to them why their van was missing a wing mirror. đ
There was a time about a decade ago when I was in my mid twenties and the group I was with were talking about all the times they had been stopped by traffic police, which I never had been, until the journey home that night. Not been stopped since either, must be about due.
I had difficulty believing you would hit a parked car, but I forgot about the date. I was relieved that it didn't happen đ
Your driving instructor Ryan, recently helped me passed my test. Great teacher and absolute credit to the company đ
In all seriousness, people don't think about Fire Appliances or Ambulances needing to get through in an emergency
They should be allowed to push poorly parked cars out of the way with their appliance without consequence, ideally the owner of the poorly parked car should then be billed for any damage caused.
I don't know about the UK, but in many parts of the world, they absolutely can and will remove the obstruction as quickly as they can, never mind the damage. And at least on a German fire truck, they'll hardly damage their paint job and be done in a few seconds... Cue angry screaming from the car owner, because they may have a write-off on their hands.
The thing thatâs really concerning is what happens when an emergency vehicle needs to get through.
Ashley you have been such an exemplary instructor and friend thank you so much for everything youâve done for Jack đ
I think we were all secretly hoping Ashley did hit a parked car just so we could see how he deals with it lol
I used to dislike when you would tut or shake your head at people who did something wrong around you but the way you handled that dog incident was textbook and what I aspire to try and apply to my driving, also everybody can "read the script" you've just got to learn the language đđ great video mate, take care.
I would tut and shake my head at that one to be honest.
8:20 đ€Łđ€Ł
Heâs probably still trying to understand what you meant Ash as it seemed lost on him đ€Łđ€Ł
April fools got me really good haha
That one with the dogs running straight across the road really annoyed, I have just started walking my puppy this week after all his vaccinations, etc. I am making a point of training him to sit at the curb before crossing any road and wait until I say to go, it might not work if he is off lead but rather try and teach it now, than be too late and he runs across the road and gets hit.
Wow, Jack is a unit!! You look like a little kid in the passenger seat.
Congratulations Jack, well done on passing đ
Not many nicer than Jack also!
@@ashley_neal that tends to be the case with people of his stature. they've nothing to prove, so nothing to lose by being nice.
Its the camera, it distorts the size of the things so people in the passenger seat look much smaller.
But Jack is a big lad as well, so he looks even bigger there.
â@@kenbrown2808
Couldn't agree more.đ
@@kenbrown2808 what do you mean by this?
It was a nasty crash too. Good thing no one was hurt or you would be in massive trouble either in hospital or under arrest.
Damn you really got me with that one, I was turning up the volume and everything waiting for the hit LOL
They should fit emergency vehicles with a ramming bumper and make it legal to ram there way through gaps like that. No way should someones life be allowed to be risked because of selfish parking. Also make a legal minimum gap and make it easy for councils to fine those parking inconsiderately like that. They wont learn unless you hit them where it hurts.
You got me Ashley. It definitely looked like a car wouldn't be able to get past without a scratch.
I wish that you were my driver instructor for my minibus refresher. I was driving for years for the ambulance service Patient Transport and NHS and I was made to feel like a complete noob. You are so calm. That is the sign of a really good teacher. I was going to then do my LGV training training straight afterwards but cancelled. Too fast too slow. Change gear! ARRRRRR! Ive only been driving for 35 years, no accidents, done advanced driver training with the West Yorkshire Police. I suppose we all pick up bad driving habits. But a good instructor will encourage but also correct. Good work Sir. Much respect.
Well done Jack, congratulations đ„łđ
Nice advice at 6:08 as well which is something I had to learn the hard way..never turn at the same time as a vehicle next to you đ
Jack: How did you know he was going to do that?
Ash: He's driving a BMW...
đ€Łđ€Ł
@@CraigNiel When I drove a BMW it quite often confused other drivers when I would let them out of a sideroad in heavy traffic, I used indicators, kept to the speed limit and didnât change lanes every 5 seconds on a dual carriageway or motorway.
I started getting letters left on my windscreen after I started to say thank you to a driver that had waited for me. The letters went something like
âDear driver,
It had come to our attention that your driving standards are well above what we would expect and as such we ask you to urgently lower your standards or sell your vehicle.
Kind regards
BMW Owners Clubâ
I never did comply with their request đ€Łđ€Ł
â@@CraigNiel I went to a BMW after driving Jaguars. People genuinely stared and acted surprised when I showed them courtesy, signaled in good time and (shock horror!) let them out to keep traffic flowing. đ
I'm back with a Jaguar now đ
Had me hook line and sinker haha! Well done Jack on passing your test too! FREEDOM!
And a very happy April first to you too, had me going for a minute there - but that diver couldn't have made a better pinch point if they'd tried. White Van Man just didn't want you to move to the right did he? Well done Jack, a great achievement.
Hi Ashley, yet again I sit here watching you driving and explaining what you are doing and why, it reminds me of just how much I enjoy driving!, the constant and relentless observation and calculation that all the time you can self-assess your own performance by just how smoothly you can proceed. The last few years I have become even more delighted to find that I do not need to drive quickly in order to continue to think quickly, almost a new mantra, think fast drive slow!.
I imagine there must be some optimal ration of the two that yield the best results, the only issue being that I am now more familiar with the fact that my own performance varies quite a lot according to exactly what condition I am in at the time!, obviously when I am quite tired every thing must slow down but I do try a bit harder to pay attention when I am feeling very fresh I can relax a bit more. The only thing that is entirely consistent is variety!.
Cheers, Richard.
Very nicely said.
Amazes me how people can park however they like, including over a foot away from the kerb with their wheels turned full lock and never get a scratch, while I take a huge amount of care and will leave a car several minutes walk away and I have had a car written off while it was parked perfectly safely.
Aaaaaaah!!!! I so thought you were gonna hit it!!!! đ You got me for sure x
Congratulations Jack!
As a motorcycle rider I tend to give as much space as I can for the learner riders mainly thanks to your video's Ash, Ive always been respectful when I see a learner car but I even put myself at risk to give you guys room. I get tailgated as a result but aslong as your learner feels calm then its worth it.
đ€Łđ€Ł got us there, Ash. Iâm sitting here watching thinking, âSurely not? Surely notâ!?
Well played, sir.
4 years ago I saw an amazing April Fools video on youtube and since then I've always looked forward to seeing what various youtubers have in store each year. Nice one
11:06 "Them golf drivers." Ironic really đ€Ł
As somebody who used to drive large machines through small gaps all day every day (farming) my motto is "it's not tight until something touches"
You just have to be very careful and know where your corners are
Oh come on, how did I fall for thatđđđđđ you got me there Ash.... That first part of the video was SERIOUSLY intense though!
It was useful information for what to do after hitting someone's car when they're not around. Thanks for that information.
I'm always so sceptical of what I see on April 1st, but you totally had me with this one!
Great learning video for all of us. Ashley you call it reading the script, I call it reading their body language, vehicle body of course.
The whole of Twitter was READY on that one Ash, you had me disappointed as well.đ€Ł
Watching your videos has helped me with my own driving skills. Great content.
Doh! You got me there Ash đ . Really tight space ,as my missus always says it wonât fit. Awesome driving
Ashley, your face after saying 'Golf driver's had me đ. The gap on the first clip was insanely tight, not sure the other driver that followed from the opposite direction would have fit, and I'm surprised they tried.
You bloody got me Ash!!! Very well done getting through there
đ€Ł fair play Ashley, you got me hook, line and sinker đŁđ€Łđ€Ł
Congrats to Jack! Welcome to the world of crazy roads lol. Stay safe out there mate!
I love the style with the white van driver. Big smile. Friendly tone. Tell them how rubbish their driving is... Very nice!
Ashley you mischievous so and so. Early morning without my coffee and you get me a with an April fools prank a few days later. Well played sir đ€Ł
As a current learner, space perception and knowing when to stop/go is still one of my major fears, so that intro spiked my anxiety.
After helping a neighbour re-familiarise themself with driving after quite a few years not being behind the wheel I considered becoming a driver-instructor, but while I reckon I have the patience to teach students, I'm uncertain whether I'd cope with all those idiots who think they can drive (& hate learners)!
I switched on CZcams today and thought to myself Iâm not going to believe anything i see or watch, the first video has already caught me out. I was watching like a hawk
Had it for ~200m the other day - crash closed the main road and all the traffic diverting through backstreets in the town was causing chaos - got to a point where the only way forward, no option of going back, was squeezing between parked cars and the queued traffic coming the other way on a narrow street, wing mirrors folded in, with the parking sensors on constant tone... crazy sense of relief on clearing it.
Love it Ashley. You areThe Best!
You should have added a sfx of you hitting the car and said something like âsometimes if the damage is minimal and no one has seen you it's best to just drive offâ that'd have really gotten people.
Haha, good one, you got me đ I was on tenterhooks there, just waiting on the noise of the scrape... But boy was that tight, thoughtless parking indeed, what were they thinking.
You got me too. I thought it looked too tight: ha ha. Well done
Haha Iâm dead on 8:35 the guy says step by step youâre gonna be ready đ€Łđ€Łđ€Łđ€Łđ€Łđ€Ł
Really enjoyed todays video! Was on the edge of my seat with the first clip - very impressive manoeuvre though! Also the interaction with the van driver was very funny đ
Awesome, thank you!
you got me lol as I know you are also happy to show your errors have a great day
Cheeky bugger, Ash. đ I was on the edge of my seat watching that first clip.
Ashley, don't forget prides goes before destruction and a haughty spirit before a fall. You are just as likely, in spite of your greater experience in driving and assessing space, as anyone else to make an error.
You're a comedian now Ashley! đ
Another great video.
ha you got me. I was waiting for the crash and I thought impressed you showing your mistakes!
We had this same situation trying to get to my parents, less than an inch to spare either side, lack of consideration for other drivers, enjoy your content by the way, made a lot of changes to my driving over the months
I love it when Ash goes, "them Golf drivers" đđ
Well you got me fair and square! It's still the first even, was waiting for the scrunch.
Haha - had me going. Was waiting for the crunch
You got me so bad!! HAHAHAHA It looked impossible to go trhough ngl
Got me ! I re ran it to see where it happened and I figured it was at the start, You were right you did hit it. Mine got hit last Tuesday parked up outside my house ( Golf GTI), I heard a bang and looked out my window to see my neighbour sat in her car at right angles to the road and facing me through the bay window. All sorted amicably but annoyed that not only am I financially worse off because my premiums WILL go up ( even on a non fault) but I also have to declare it for the next 5 years! Insurance companies have us all by the short and curls, the ombudsman really should look into specifying a definite non fault and no increases.
Lack of training, lack of policing and inappropriate punishment's. And way to much apathy.
Cracking video as always Ashley!
Absolutely got me Ashley!!
Fairplay
You got us good, Ashley! :D
Fair play to you Ashley, I wouldn't have ridden a bike through that gap
SPOILER ALERT - If you don't want to know the result of the first clip, look away now.
Completely fell for the April fool - I thought oh no, he's finally got the Golf fixed and got the new exhaust fitted and he's scratched it lol. :D Nice set of clips as always. Congratulations Jack and well done Becky. Bit of Miley Cyrus there at 11:01?
I thought to myself, let go on CZcams and see what April Foolâs jokes there are and then, crikey - Ashleyâs had a bump! Better see what this is about⊠you got me!! đ
You pranked me well and truly!
Best wishes on April fool's day! George
I cant tell you how much I was internally screaming "Get your passenger to get out and watch you at least"
0:50 I had a cousin who, many years ago cycled down a high street between two RT double deck 'buses. Each was stationary, facing opposite ways ,but were not parallel. His cycle suddenly halted, the handlebars being wedged between the two. With passengers on both sides viewing him, he quickly dismounted and wrenched the handlebars free.
Perfect April fool! Well done, Ash!
10:40 junction cutters, my pet peeve. I had one the other day when I was driving my work truck, coming to a junction to join an A road with hedges so high that cars turning right from the A road into the road I was on can not see the sides of large vehicles. This guy that turned right almost cut the junction completely and would have turned in on the road side of the road, then he saw my massive truck coming towards him and had to steer out and back in again. Just made me laugh in amazement.
I was always taught to park assuming a fire engine or ambulance would need to get by. Anything else is stupid and selfish.
Ahh you got us on this one! Still no need to leave a ridiculous gap like that though. How people get their licenses these days Iâll never know
Needed cheering up with that Ashley. â€
I'm impressed with that squeeze. Very impressed. i wouldn't have done that myself. I'd have taken another route and called the police to come and deal with it.
0:22 into video, thought âOh man, thatâs it thenâ almost hit the unsubscribe button in disappointment.
Brilliant videos Ashley.
Your position behind bus is brilliant: yiu can see both lights left and right of bus.
Good April fool ash as I thought you was gonna hit one of the cars đđđ
I thought the roads were bad up here in Newcastle, but I have to say from your video Liverpools roads are a disgrace, Iâve never seen so many pot holes!
Hitting the Hearse would have been more Bonus Points but Mini Clubman cars are even better! You should become Delta's main Driving Instructor!!
hahahhaa I had my hands on my head going "No Ash no!" ya got me
đ very good, I bet all the Lycra brigade, cycling Mikeys and Jeremy Vines were getting excited and ready to share this everywhere đđ
You got me! But what dreadful parking....almost a joke in itself! Although before I watched, I was expecting any contact to not be your fault somehow....đ
Honestly, with the speed you were doing @Ashley, I will be very surprised if any impact caused more than a minor paint transfer, if that. Like my instructor used to say "Less space, less gas".
If I hadn't been fooled by a joke elsewhere just minutes before I saw this, it would've got me! Good one!
LOL I fell for it, that gap looked pretty tight ! In my SUV in tight moving traffic I just stop, no way I'm testing my judgement !!
Listening to 'Flowers' at 11:00 - good choice!
That was so impressive getting through that space no idea what I would have done to be truthful
Golf drivers đ Also you bloody got me, April Fools lol.
Doh! You got meâŠ. But then coming from Liverpool, we should know youâre a comedian đ
Oh my gosh you got me even after reading some of the comments lmao
