There's a talent bias. There's a reason nobody on this list is a star. Kobe plead guilty and admitted to rape and not only is he not judged by the league but most people won't even acknowledge it.
Tyreke Evans definitely comes to mind
What did he do?
@@fortynights1513 from what I've heard he was positive for drug use and he was suspended for like 2 or 3 seasons
He was banned, that's different
I would’ve put him over O.J. since he actually got reinstated by the league. O.J. has yet to be reinstated as of now, so he couldn’t play for a team even if they were interested in him.
I do like some of these punishments. Like harsher suspensions for abuse and assault. Shit happens all the time in the nfl, but players keep coming back
Shouldn’t they wait for the outcome of the case?
@youlikeitiloveit3747 did I mention anything about cases? The league can punish based on allegations alone if they want. It's a business end of the day, they can do what the fuck they think is right for improving their business and image. I do think they should wait until there's concrete evidence, but they can do whatever they want
I’m surprised even Dwight Howard didn’t even make this list but also Enes Kanter definitely comes to mind for sure
They keep saying that defense BS but we've seen everyone be a cone. Steph too lol. Not to mention he was bench guy

What about Jeremy Lin. Dude came back and went to G league and proved that he has What it takes to be an NBA player again but was overlooked by all the NBA teams that had worst players on their roster.
Does he have a playstyle that belongs to older generations?
Injuries took away his prime, and now he's too old and possibly injury-prone. If he was a 3pt sharpshooter, they'd probably still give him a bench role, but he's never been great at that either. As for worst players on the roster, most of those are younger players that the teams want to develop.
He overachieved, Jeremy Lin was very well compensated for his ability and he has a ring. He’s been treated better than players who were way better
Jeremy Lin had his run and this is no knock on the guy because I respect him as a person but his Linsanity moment overhyped his value. He was a good contributor but his hot streak raised his expectations and other teams wanted him as a centerpiece of his team until they realized he wasn't the guy they thought he was.
If anything, he's been in the league longer than most people of his relative skillset and if he didn't have that moment with the Knicks, he would've languished in the G-League and eventually went overseas.
Lin was absolute GARBAGE on the raptors. He was not good enough after the second ACL. Low IQ player who relied on burst to be good in the nba and lost that due to injury
Oh yeah thanks Andy for another solid video!!
Putting Enes Kanter at the Pick and Roll is essentially the biggest reason why he's not in the league anymore. The baggage he's carrying just a plus for teams to not sign him.
By that do you mean defending it or finishing it?
@@fortynights1513i’m assuming defending it. Enes can’t move his damn feet on a switch
What baggage is he carrying?
@@fortynights1513 both. He can’t score in the P&R either. Post moves or nothing, and no passing chops or jumper to make it work better. He’s like a 90s big, but without any of the toughness.
That's a damn lie. There are plenty of 0 defenders on the league. Enes had terrible defenders around him too. They were the problem. Negatives like Steph got hid by rest of team. Wo those guys he's a cone
Aside from Kevin Porter Jr., I feel like you could feasibly argue that the other guys aren't so much blackballed but their styles just aren't desirable anymore in this current style of basketball. Enes was a good scorer and solid rebounder but couldn't defend well. Dion and OJ Mayo play style didn't age well. That and the league just has so much talent now that they're not really needed on any rosters
Naw. Enes Kanter was a double-double machine before he called out China. The game he did that and refused to change shoes he made to prostrst, he was benched and had minutes cut
We need to let people like Enes protest
@@deecee2174 From a morals perspective, I agree. He should be able to express his political and social stances and have a career but history has proven that wrong way beyond the NBA. What teams are you looking at rn in the league that has you like "they need Enes, he'll be impactful for them."

The only place Miles Bridges will ever be blacklisted from is Canada.
Like all these truck drivers during clovid?
How about Meyers Leonard?
lol
Let's be real. Enes Kanter only played minutes on that Blazers team because we didn't have any other centers and why we offered him a bad deal. He's slow, can't shoot, and is only really good as a rebounder. He's just not a good modern NBA player and was on his way out.
Maybe him having bad political views made it so teams now don't even send him offers but also he seems to be too far in his own thing being a conservative grifter.

I never liked Enes a lot, but his example shows what really happens when you do speak up. AND he had a point. Disgraceful, they don't even have the decency to at least say so - another great example of the shitshow the NBA has become.
It’s basketball not politics cry about it
It's the other way around, dude! If it was just a ballgame, having an opinion shouldn't be a problem. They made it political, cause every penny from anywhere counts.
Hey Andy Hoops, how about a video on players that were kicked out of the league for substance abuse? Roy Tarpley by himself would have his own episode.
They’re “black listed” cause they tarnish the image of the league and they’re not good enough to be anything but bench and role players today
I need to add that if you aren’t an elite player, then the team isn’t going to go out of their way to protect you. You can’t speak out against anything that the *business* that is the NBA isn’t standing on, and expect to continue to have a career in the league. It’s happened for decades.
Enes Freedom spoke out against the Chinese government, and you wonder why he was unfairly phased out of the league? Waiters and Mayo were inconsistent players throughout most of their careers, then they committed infractions (on a shortened leash) and then wondered why no one would pick them up again. KPJ, he’s no Miles Bridges. A decent player whose team is better without him. It’s all. Business.

Is there a video here in CZcams explaining the details of players getting waived? Getting traded then gets waive became a trend these past several years.
pretty much a player getting waived means that whatever remaining years and salary that is guaranteed on their contract gets bought out by the team that does it. Now depending on the teams situation, they either can do a wave and stretch or a simply waive of the player. a wave and stretch pretty much takes the players remaining money and dividing it up over a set of years that makes it non impactful toward a teams salary cap and doesn’t impact their luxury tax flexibility. A regular contract waive/buyout means a team buys out a players contract and whatever amount of years left and money left is what the team pays for the rest of the regular season. there are conditions like if the contract is guaranteed or any incentives that make the overall value of the contract less that what is projected along with the salary cap being part of a reason why teams do it. the reason that players like kevin porter jr are traded to teams like the thunder are because the thunder are one of few teams this seasons that are not paying above the salary cap so they can buy out kevin’s contract in full and it doesn’t really do anything to their salary as only shai is making high amounts of money.
Hey Andy. I was wondering if you could do a video exploring the regression of Jalen green? As a rockets fan, he’s been benched several times in the fourth quarter and has become a liability. I think he will get moved if things don’t improve.
Wasn't he compared to Kobe before the draft? Crazy.

In my opinion, it’s ridiculous that players who have beat their wifes or have a history of violence in general most of the times get a chance to get back to the league but players who used marijuana or “illegal substances “ which literally everyone takes or uses get banned and blacklisted for the rest of their career. And don’t get me started on Kanter, a guy who just speaks his mind and gets blacklisted by the NBA that supposedly stands for freedom etc…

This is already happening for years in the league so weed isn’t a problem. It becomes a problem only if you’re a role player and teams are looking for reasons to cut you off.
As for your 2nd question, its just hypocrisy to preach about freedom, equality etc etc but only when the NBa benefits from it. For example, BLM had tons of revenue and the NBA promoted. But when we discuss about child labour on foreign countries and other important issues then the NBA isn’t all about freedom and speaking your mind all of a sudden

These guys getting "blacklisted" seems pretty much unfair particularly Enes Freedom (formerly Enes Kanter).
Outside of KPJ

He was trash tho
I’ve heard that he was a center who could post up and rebound but not defend.
Not that he wasn’t blacklisted, but I wouldn’t be surprised if some teams didn’t think he fit their scheme.
Kanter was in the league a long time though. He just got slower!
Kanter is actually a mostly useless, replacement level player. It's not that mysterious that no team wants the extra burden.
Enes Freedom was REALLY bad tho, i think it was the fact that he was just not good ngl.
I forgot he had a panic attack for taking too many edibles lol, yea you gotta go fam
Man Kanter cannot play defense.....that's why he not in the league. If you have great skill......you will never he blackballed as we saw with Gil but not the other guy who brought guns
The sport is bigger now compared back then so the talent pool is bigger as well.. so getting rid of players because of off the court issues is no big deal nowadays...
KPJ has the raw talent to be a guaranteed all star just don’t got the mental and emotional control
KPJ was already proved innocent. It was not justified why the NBA dropped him. They only did it bc his contract was 80 mill and public opinion crucified him and made the NBA do something about it. Try doing research on his case he didn't do anything but get lied on by the media.
06:30 some people use the work "friend" when they really mean "colleagues / business associates". No friend will octracise you because you used canabis, and/or you got banned by the NBA.
Aside from a loudmouth, Enes was also trash on defense and can’t shoot from distance.

What’s crazy is KPJ’s girlfriends sister is like a WNBA player and she beat her boyfriend up and he’s an nba player
Kanter thinks he's blacklisted when in reality nobody wants him cause he's old and sucks. If Kenneth Faried can't make an NBA team then there's no way Kanter is good enough
And his playstyle became outdated when the warriors changed the league almost a decade ago
Faried was always worse than Kanter and is even more outdated. A 6'8" power forward who can't even shoot midrange, can't do anything on defense and can't create a shot for himself or a teammate is useless. All he could do is catch lobs and rebound. Which might be okay if he could play C, but he has no length, rim protection or switchability.. So even for "small ball" he is useless, and he doesn't do anything well for a modern power forward role
The NBA blackballing OJ Mayo for weed is just so frustrating years upon years later.
Really fucking lame.
It’s crazy cause now we know basically half the league smokes weed but the NBA really violated OJ Mayo. 2 yrs is crazy for weed.
You ignored opioid abuse
I'd rather say for Kanter, if you really want to believe that he's kicked out of the league due to some political reasons, rather than the fact that he was a defensive blackhole that can't shoot 3s in a league dominated by guards living outside of the 3pt line and switch on slow big men every single play, instead of believing in that communist conspiracy bs that he claimed, I think the other theory, that he was actually waived by the Rockets because they don't wanna embarrass their Turkish young star Sengun and the Turkish market behind it, made more sense. (He was hated and wanted by Erdogan in Turkey as well, his father back in Turkey had to cut off ties with him to avoid being jailed)
It was the Celtics that traded him, but it was the Rockets that waived him.
I would love to a star like luka or steph to do what Kanter did and see what they do

Karl "The Predator" Malone should be on this list. Shame on the NBA for not banning him and shame on the US for not having him behind bars

The claim that Enes "Freedom" Kanter is a victim of a directive not to sign him is such bs. Even before all of this he would trash teams that he played for, alienating fans anytime he left a team. Nobody wants to sign somebody that will treat anything he doesnt like as a conspiracy against him. He is a distraction not worth what he brings to a team.
Even when people agree with what he is saying now, the unpredictability of what else he might say makes him a bad investment

Its not that they dont have talent, the main reason is there are so many talents that they are basically finding fault to remove players from their rosters to try those who are queueing to enter the league. Unless you are very special, maybe you can comeback when having small issues but big issues no longer have certain privileges because of the talent pool.
Porter just needs to wait a year like Bridges
So if Kobe played today, with that assault case as well, I guess he would’ve been suspended or even banned by the NBA. I mean you could also use Ime Udoka as an example here. He’s lucky he got another job with the Rockets tho
Kobe is too big of a star for anything drastic like that to happen to him.
When you’re successful and rich enough cancel culture doesn’t work.

THEY HATE THOSE WHO SPEAK THE TRUTH I SUPPORT ENES FREEDOM
I don't have a problem with Enes Kanter speaking out about his political views, he should'nt have been blacklisted for that. What I do have a problem is that it is ironic that he would consider China to be such an evil country (and alot of what he says about China isn't even correct) while at the same time ignoring the numerous human rights abuses and "evil acts" committed by the US. Why accuse one country of evil acts while turning a blind eye to the evil acts of another?
Why didn’t you mention when Kanter refused to change shoes after being asked?
I feel like there’s less tolerance for what players do nowadays because there’s so much talent in the league. Back then if you were good enough they’d sorta let you slide but even someone like Miles Bridges who was a big part of the hornets was gone for a year.
Ergo, players are more easily replaceable?
It should always be like the 90s. They should separate on and off court issues
What image?
They really sign contracts and are surprised afterwards when they break it.
This AI guy totally glossed over Kevin Porter Jr time in Cleveland. Dude was over there WILDIN OUT before he got traded for a bag of Doritos from Cleveland. Immediately after the trade to Houston, Porter dropped like 50pts in a game and had the Rockets fan MOIST but that wound up being fools gold. Everything that has happened to him he has done to himself. Atleast Dion Waiters was honest about his ATTITUDE problems. He never wanted to play with Kyrie in Cleveland and I’ll never forget that Nike commercial they had with Lebron and the Cavs when he came back from Miami: Peep Dion Waiters mean mugging and ice grilling Lebron while he’s trying to motivate em in the huddle. Why this wasn’t edited out is beyond me. CZcams it and see what I’m talking about 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤦🏽♂️

Idk you say its fishy that the moment Kanter speaks out he doesn't get signed by any team but I think it's more fishy that the moment he starts to be completely useless to a winning basketball team is when he suddenly changes his name, clearly gets a new pr team, and starts showing up on Fox News and other places speaking in ways he's never spoken before publically, in ways louder than he ever has before. What's seems way more likely to me is he saw the writing on the wall and puts his chips on the "political grifter and influencer" strategy. I mean he was getting injured, he wasn't young or improving anymore, he didn't space the floor, played some of the worst defense in the league, AND and on top of that had numerous PR and lockerroom issues that could cause massive headaches for a team. What organization would ever want that. I mean even without the China problems the Gulen Cult thing was already enough of a headache. Developing teams want younger players who could actually improve, or locker room vets who teach, improve chemistry, and could possibly transition into behind the scenes roles (Udonis Haslem, Vince Carter, etc). Contending teams want players who won't be injured, can hopefully play defense, space, or at the very least provide veteran presence or play-making. Kanter does absolutely none of those things.
Now replace every Enes Kanter with Colin Kaepernick and everyone will call you out for it. Double standards much?
@icupnibba3533 These are incomparable. Kaep was forced out at 29 in a sport and position kinder to older players. During the season he retired his passer rating was in the top half of all starters in the league. Meanwhile Kanter was an injury prone big man at the same age who didn't apace the floor, had onlt regressed more and more, and notably was one of the worst defenders in the league, and probably THE worst defensive center in the league. Kaep was clearly blackballed for political reasons, Kanter just sucks and the politics, cult ties, and antics just made an easy decision easier.
Ain’t no way you just pronounced phenom as FEN-EM brooooo
Crazy that Miles Bridges ain’t on this list.
Comparing Kanter’s bullshit to Abdul-Rauf is nasty work
Kanter is a dirty player who can’t guard a pick and roll to save his life
Bad take outside of Kanter. Porter had a history of anger issues dating all the way back to the Cavs. He’s had plenty of chances and has squandered it time and time again. OJ mayo, Dion and Porter all had plenty of chances, while guys like Isaiah Thomas, Nate Robinson and Kemba Walker who never caused any problems can’t get a job.
They’re all done. Neither of them will ever play in the NBA again.
Isn't Dwight also blacklisted by the NBA?
