i think that when the season ends the spurs and pistons should have their own 5 game playoff series to see which is the worst team and they get to hold whoever wins the scrub trophy.
I honestly think Wemby is getting the rookie Bron treatment from his teammates. I think Devin Vassell, Keldon Johnson, and picks need to be packaged for an elite level point guard (if possibly available).
I feel like it's Pop trying to force guys into playing his way, and being overly fearful of them becoming too reliant on Wemby and making him the system. He has them overcomplicating the game, trying to play "spurs basketball" when most of the time it really is as simple as getting the ball to your best player in his spots. I respect it, but at the same time it's giving me Bill Belichick vibes acting like the system is more important than talent. Maybe he feels like letting Wemby shine will come at the expense of the team & his program, but dude it's 2023. Talent sells tickets & talent wins games. There's no logical reason why he should be getting ignored in the paint with obvious advantages.
That’s a dumb idea. Vassell and Keldon are on affordable contracts and are clearly two of the Spurs better players. Vassell is a three level scorer and Keldon is one of the few who can get the ball to Wemby consistently despite what Rusty may think. Also who is this elite level point guard they are going to get? All the good guards are on playoff teams and don’t line up with the Spurs timeline. Point guard will be addressed after this year most likely in the draft. Spurs have bigger problems defensively than offensively imo.
@@nicholaskatsikas4904 I guess drafting a point guard would be the better option especially with the guard talent in this upcoming class (there are a number of point forwards as well, but I doubt the Spurs would want a repeat of the Jeremy Sochan experiment). There are a couple young star point guards in imploding situations that could be possible trade candidates this offseason such as Darius Garland, LaMelo Ball, Trae Young, and Cade Cunningham (a cheaper option), but none of them are guaranteed or even likely to be traded.
John Wall told Rockets players to not get used to losing, and look at them now as the Rockets have young guys playing to win and they got Fred and Dillon there to help. The Pistons lack veteran leadership, guys to show young players the ropes in the league. People to tell them not to be complacent with losing. Ownership doesn’t care about winning, which makes the front office not care about winning, which leads to the coaches not caring about winning, which leads to players not caring about winning.
I think a ton of people in these comments forget how bad those 2011 bobcats were. They used to have debates about whether they could beat college teams. That team had a young core of kemba and biyombo. The best player was bad porno…… This pistons team is constructed like garbage where it’s like they threw a bunch of talented kids together and let them run amok. Guys like Stewart might look bad in a game like this but he’s actually pretty good and could be big factor coming off the bench for a contender but instead he plays in a system where you’re not even sure who the team is trying to build around unless they think they’re trying to rebuild to 2004 pistons team😂😂
It blows my mind how bad they are because they have a fairly talented team between Cade Ausar Ivey and Duren and then they have good shooters like sasser Harris burks bogdanovic and even Stewart has shot well
@@SomeChink I’m not saying they’re a play in team talent wise, but they definitely shouldn’t be on this losing streak or even be the worst team in the league like they should be better then Washington and San Antonio

This is a point that I don’t think enough people think about. The longer the streak goes on, whoever they play is gonna play like they’re playing the prime Warriors, Big 3 Heat or Michael Jordan Bulls cuz they don’t wanna be the team who ends Detroit’s streak. Detroit is gonna need some god level RNG to end this streak
This is Cade Cunningham's second season technically. They have 3 frontcourt big men who don't stretch the floor. I'm not surprised they're the worst team in NBA history.
They just don't know how to do basic things. Honestly, I don't know how most of them got to this level of basketball except on pure talent and/or physical gifts. I stopped watching them when I saw full games with players running to the other end of the court after every shot and not even trying for rebounds. Maybe they've corrected that but that shouldn't happen with any professional team. I've watched almost every minute of the Spurs this year. The "Wemby doesn't get the ball enough" narrative is nonsense. He gets it more than anyone on that team BY FAR. You can see it in his usage rating. They were complaining about him not getting the ball during that Bulls game 1) when his teammate had just made an easy floater, 2) when Wembanyama had camped out at the three point line, where he's quite literally one of the worst in the entire NBA, and 3) when the defender was in position to intercept the pass. The Bulls front court players were bullying him out of position. It doesn't help him to blame his teammates instead of him just working on being better at getting position. People want to believe the issue is his teammates because Wembanyama hasn't shown what they thought he would yet. Another thing he was supposed to do was be able to create his own shot off the dribble. I have MAYBE seen him do that like 4 times, and that's being generous. People throw out this "generational talent" phrase without any justification. Maybe he is, maybe he isn't. But I'd say to look at the Bulls the year before Jordan and the year after Jordan or the Cavs before Lebron and after Lebron. Those guys had immediate massive impacts on winning.
The problem people have with the Brunson comment is not that he’s not championship number 1 it’s how they treat him in general, they treat him like a sub allstar. Also don’t do this cop out saying it’s because she’s a woman, they attack literally every ESPN person for saying the same thing about brunson
It was so unnecessary after a stretch of excellent play. Brunson overcomes doubters time and time again though lets see how he responds. I don’t understand how that comment could be made though and media heads still push Donovan Mitchell to NY. Knick coverage is so unserious
Yea definitely a copout. They roast everyone on ESPN with a take. They’ll roast Rusty too in some videos based of his takes. If you have a take just be prepared to defend it and move on. Stop with the I have a vagina so I can’t be critiqued nonsense.
@@liferealgoodthat’s not what Rusty is addressing. It’s the content of the comments. If they disagree that fine. They bring her sex into the conversation to disqualify her opinion.
Bro as someone who watches every pistons game it made me lol that u suggested this had something to do with tanking. We are trying to win every game, believe it.
Someone compile a gametape of their last 10 games and I'll watch it and give a opinion on what needs to be added and removed to make them competitive. Problem is i can't tell if the pistons even want to win, they always seem to be tanking for a pick.
I've been thinking is this really the worst team in nba history, it might be but part of me thinks that the level of competition in the league has stepped up so much that really bad teams like the pistons, wizards and spurs don't got a shot against even the average teams.
Nah the pistons and spurs and alot of recent bad teams are so bad because they're blatantly tanking and not even trying to win so they can get top picks in the draft. It's so blatant that the sixers even Created a name for there style of tanking and even used it to get the fans to buy into it and be patient and keep buying tickets to the games until the process was complete. The sixers rebranded loosing games on purpose to "trust the process"
True but bobcats were so bad there literally was discussion if they could even beat a college team 😂😂 If you were watching back then it was BAAAADDD lol
Yea I didn’t get why people were upset about the Jalen Brunson comments. As a mavs fan I love Brunson, man has definitely shown he is much better than he’s draft pick and he’s a fringe all star at least. But we all know that that Knicks team is missing something and Brunson as as your number 1 option won’t get you there unless the rest of the roster plays out of their minds. People have been saying it, but rusty is right. A women said so now people have an issue with it. It’s dumb honestly
Pistons honestly need to undergo the process. Trade all their recent young draft picks (you couldn’t put into words the amount of draft capital they would get back), fire Monty no matter how big that cap hit is, maybe if you’re the owner fire the GM, and start this thing over completely from scratch with the scraps of the other 29 teams.
The Pistons right now are the perfect argument against the lottery and gifting awful franchises the most talented players. Cunningham, unless he risks it all on his 5th year option, is stuck there for what... 7 to 9 years? All this loosing will be really bad for his developement as a player and his reputation. And it is not as if the Pistons suddenly turned into a shitshow. They have been bad on as an oragnisation for a decade. But as a reward, they get another Top 3 pick, they can ruin. Hopefully, someone offers Cade a 1+2 deal as an unrestricted free agent, so he can get out ASAP. But there seems to be a bro code between the GMs, not to offer short deal with lots of player options to unrestricted free agents...
Isiah thomas was undersized and led his pistons too back to back championships in 89-90. Yes the pistons were a Great team on both sides of the court but he was the clear number 1 scoring option and the best player on that team. But besides him no other small guatd
I don't watch piston games so any fans would know more than me but what is the issue? Players, coaching, management or a combination? Cause this is getting sad
Brunson can be a first option in a finals team if you mix him with the right components being great shooters and defenders and some dirty players like Detroit or golden state had to protect their smaller stars
Idk why it’s so hard to understand. ESPN love generating clickbait. That’s all this was. Brunson can be a #1 option on a title contending team. The team currently isn’t a title contender. I think they need at least two more players. Preferably a 3-D wing, and a backup PF.
Jalen Brunson is closer to Fred VanVleet than a guy like Tyreese Haliburton, and I don’t even know if Hali can be a number 1 on a championship team. No one is saying he’s a bad player, but who are you kidding. He could never be the #1
Coming up on one of the worst draft classes of all time, Pistons are destined to replace Sacramento as the leagues greatest poverty franchise for the next 10 years.
Watching this after Alvini's review of the Pistons for the last 15 years just shows there has been TOO many problems. Im talking they need HARD reset. Overhaul the roster and front office, sell the team, Thanos this bitch and click the big red button its over and no coming back
10:29 - No, she didn’t say that. She said Jalen Brunson can’t be the #1 on a championship team because he’s small and proceeded to say that you aren’t winning with a small guy as your #1. Which is objectively false, Steph Curry, Chauncey Billups, Dwyane Wade, Isiah Thomas are all examples of this. If she had said unlikely, it would have been a valid take, but she based Brunson not being a #1 based on his height rather than his skill. Also, it’s disrespectful to all the small guards that could have been a #1 on a championship team but didn’t because of circumstances (Westbrook, CP3, Iverson) And yes, while I agree that there are a lot of people that jumped on her because she’s a women with an opinion, I strongly disagree that this was a good opinion. At the very least, it was an opinion that she did a bad job at elaborating with.
As a Spurs fan the most frustrating thing is how awful Sochan is. It takes balls to dye your hair and wear Rodman's number and then have a defensive FG% on par with Trae Young's and in the bottom third of the league. Feels like the Sochan PG experiment was Pop hoping he'd find some way to be able to get Sochan on the floor but he's useless and the only thing he does competently is shoot FTs. Having Primo and Sochan as your lottery picks in back to back years makes the front office look almost as incompetent as the coach.
Trae actually hustles his ass off on defense now. He's just too small to properly contest shots against anyone taller than 6'2", and the defensive scheme the Hawks run does him no favors either. He's a better defender than the stats would have you believe.
Yeah, there are a lot of pretty good teams this year, but whatever you think of the players, Detroit with even a vaguely competent coach has four or five wins and not two. Yes, sell the team, fire the coach and everyone in the front office, and at least have open tryouts or something. There are guys sitting on their sofa watching that are better than some of your rotation guys.
Nah the Becky Hammond take was fucking stupid. It would still be fucking stupid if anyone else said it. He’s not the typical formula for a championship caliber leader but he’s good enough to possibly do it provided he stays healthy and gets a more competitive roster around him
Them that would be in route to Isaiah Thomas route.. they constructed a great team around him.. same with Steph but steph is lights out. Brunson is on the Knicks and have a history of doing the dumbest shit and never really can really build a team. Brunson in order to be in the same name has to have an actual team built around.. an ensemble of players like Rusty said in the video.

Genuinely don't know what the pistons Front Office/Owners should do. Sell? Trade? Leave it be? They are that bad, unfortunately Cade
Here is a true statement that will make you mad:
Detroit is hands down the most consistent team in the league.
Why would that make someone mad 🤣 You banking on people just misunderstanding a basic point?
@@Cbrunning849 it's the internet. That's like 90% of what people do on here.
Can’t wait to see the Pistons still get like the fourth pick in the draft after this horrendous season
Watch they fall to like 8th and the guy taken 7th ends up being generational
A lot of respect for your last take calling out people for jumping on her for that incredibly like warm take. This isn’t about politics or feminism, it’s just true that women’s opinions are not respected by a group of nba fans and just sports fans in general. Those people needa grow up.
i think that when the season ends the spurs and pistons should have their own 5 game playoff series to see which is the worst team and they get to hold whoever wins the scrub trophy.

I’m loving these new rusty videos. I was loving the videos before but they got better and I’m a big fan of it
Thank you for calling out NBA twitter for hownawful they are. Its one of the most homophobic, misogynistic part of the Internet.
Multiple topics in one video is dope👍🏿
"Rusty's Run Down" ??
Why would people not pass the ball to Wemby? Its like a free extra 3 assists per game. That will keep you in the NBA
Marvin Bagley is currently leading the pistons in win shares.
💀
Fucking yikes
Luka was probably best rookie since Lebron and it took vets until February to get over their egoes and let Luka run the show. Thats just how it goes.
It’s been 3 guards, Steph, Wade, and IT
John Wall told Rockets players to not get used to losing, and look at them now as the Rockets have young guys playing to win and they got Fred and Dillon there to help. The Pistons lack veteran leadership, guys to show young players the ropes in the league. People to tell them not to be complacent with losing. Ownership doesn’t care about winning, which makes the front office not care about winning, which leads to the coaches not caring about winning, which leads to players not caring about winning.
Was at this game. U can see it in the players eyes. One run by the Jazz and the pistons had already, by their body language, accepted defeat
They are probably going to break the bobcats record at this point. Which is sad in a way because it's the only time people really talk about bobcats.
Detroit fans and players keep your heads up . There is definitely talent on your team and as a Jazz fan i feel for yah
Might be the first player in the modern era to take that rookie qualifying offer and leave
thanks for speaking out for her at the end, it’s something that needed to be said
Multiple topics in a vid is definitely a great direction to go👍

I think a ton of people in these comments forget how bad those 2011 bobcats were. They used to have debates about whether they could beat college teams. That team had a young core of kemba and biyombo. The best player was bad porno……
This pistons team is constructed like garbage where it’s like they threw a bunch of talented kids together and let them run amok. Guys like Stewart might look bad in a game like this but he’s actually pretty good and could be big factor coming off the bench for a contender but instead he plays in a system where you’re not even sure who the team is trying to build around unless they think they’re trying to rebuild to 2004 pistons team😂😂
I remember back then that they argued Anthony Davis and Kentucky could take them.
Can you envision any deals with the Raptors? And Merry Christmas 🎅
There was a FanDuel screenshot that someone bet $40 with a possibly $40k payout for the Pistons to not win another game this season 🤣
It blows my mind how bad they are because they have a fairly talented team between Cade Ausar Ivey and Duren and then they have good shooters like sasser Harris burks bogdanovic and even Stewart has shot well
you are vastly overrating the talent
they aren’t 25-game-losing-streak bad, but they are definitely among the worst 3, 4 teams in the league
@@SomeChink I’m not saying they’re a play in team talent wise, but they definitely shouldn’t be on this losing streak or even be the worst team in the league like they should be better then Washington and San Antonio
Wemby requesting a trade????🤣
it isn’t difficult to take a stance supporting women like Rusty did. yet it’s notable because it just does not typically happen from your other favorite creators. always wish you nothing but success man. smart analysis and a passionate guy. and most importantly someone with integrity
This is a point that I don’t think enough people think about. The longer the streak goes on, the harder it’s probably gonna be to break the streak, which is now currently at 26 as of my comment on Christmas Eve.
9:09 Jeremy Sochan hasn’t played point for 3 weeks at this point. Like that argument, yeah it’s bad but they’re not doing that still.
Brother I like you because I can see you talk for long stretches without edits
Respect to you my brother
I love your work
They just don't know how to do basic things.
Those guys had immediate massive impacts on winning.
they just lost to the salt lake city stars
The problem people have with the Brunson comment is not that he’s not championship number 1 it’s how they treat him in general, they treat him like a sub allstar. Also don’t do this cop out saying it’s because she’s a woman, they attack literally every ESPN person for saying the same thing about brunson
Yeah weird take. I like rusty but that came off pretty hamfisted
@@bentaft8791 Who? Who is they?
Crazy part is Cade is a baller.
The sixers rebranded loosing games on purpose to "trust the process"
the bobcats i think have worst win percentage, but they won 7 teams in the lockout season. Worst record is the 73 sixers at 9-73
True but bobcats were so bad there literally was discussion if they could even beat a college team 😂😂
If you were watching back then it was BAAAADDD lol
Pistons-Spurs Finals confirmed
They drafted 3 straight lottery guards who can’t shoot. Team building suicide in the 2020’s.
Cade is doing great for my fantasy team at least. That's all I care about.
How did people forget about the bobcats? Cavs? 76ers?
Bro you forgot Thompson twin 😭
Expansion era of the NBA.
1:32 I think it was the lockout year 2011 2012
Becky hammon is right though undersized guards cant get a team to a chip
Isiah thomas was undersized and led his pistons too back to back championships in 89-90. Yes the pistons were a Great team on both sides of the court but he was the clear number 1 scoring option and the best player on that team. But besides him no other small guatd
@@joel8692 thats the pint rusty was making
Also, it’s disrespectful to all the small guards that could have been a #1 on a championship team but didn’t because of circumstances (Westbrook, CP3, Iverson)
And yes, while I agree that there are a lot of people that jumped on her because she’s a women with an opinion, I strongly disagree that this was a good opinion.
Pop trying to force it, everyone can see it
Pop thinks he’s smarter than he really is
Trae actually hustles his ass off on defense now. He's just too small to properly contest shots against anyone taller than 6'2", and the defensive scheme the Hawks run does him no favors either. He's a better defender than the stats would have you believe.
Surely you just forgot to mention Bojan in your “real NBA players list” for the Pistons?
I’m not sure if Jalen can lead them to a ring so why people so mad at her lol
Streets won’t forget Pistons vs Jazz 12/21/23
Walt Frazier did it for the Nicks
Watch them turn it around and go 10-0 cause rusty made a video on em 🤣🤣🤣
Yeah, there are a lot of pretty good teams this year, but whatever you think of the players, Detroit with even a vaguely competent coach has four or five wins and not two. Yes, sell the team, fire the coach and everyone in the front office, and at least have open tryouts or something. There are guys sitting on their sofa watching that are better than some of your rotation guys.
Did Ausar not play or something?
Pistons' been garbage ever since they broke up the Shaq and Kobe duo
How dare you we at 26.
Can a young Lebron bring this team to playoff? That would be an interesting what if.
I’d say Bojan and Stewart are nba level players on the pistons too
What’s worse? Being a pistons fan in 2020s or a Cleveland Browns fan in the 2010s. I say the browns but pistons could definitely take it.
Losses* should be in the thumbnail
Honestly Purdue or Kansas could hold their own against this Pistons team
To me, this nonsense proves Coach Pop is done. The modern game has left him behind and he's shown no interest in innovating
Nah pop just doesn't have David Robinson, Duncan, Parker , manu anymore and it's been a long time since he's had to start from zero and build a good team. He'll be back in a few seasons when victor developes
@@joel8692 soo Wemby is just gonna develop with no effort? Pop has to put in the work to develop that young talent, it's not only on Wemby. He didn't draft himself. He doesn't implement these terrible game plans that don't involve him in the offense for extended stretches of every game
He already fumbled Kawhi and now he's fumbling Wemby 🤦♂️

Yea people often forget Wade. And honestly Billups was around .4 from leading his championship team in scoring.
Isiah thomas is 6,1" and he was the clear number 1 scoring option in both the pistons championship series . The pistons were up in the series 3-2 but the Lakers had big lead in the 4th and they looked like they were gonna tie the series especially cause Isiah left the game with an ankle injury. He.
