Back in 1970, when I returned from 18 months in Vietnam, to celebrate life,I purchased a new 1970 Ford F250 4X4 with all the bells and whistles the top of the line truck. Automatic, air conditioning. Power windows, camper special. The cost of this truck was a whooping $3,670.00 dollars. I then purchased a used home in southern Califafelony, 4 bedroom, lath and plaster walls, air conditioning. Hard wood floors, 10,000 ft.lot with a three car garage, a real three car garage with RV parking on the side of the home for $16,500. What in hell has the politicians done to this country? And Nancy’s nephew Gavin Newsom wants to be president when he grows up. Hopefully that’s never!

I make auto parts for a living. Orders have fallen off a cliff the past two weeks. Aside from Covid, I haven’t seen it this slow since 2009. It’s honestly getting pretty scary. Something has to give. Peoples wages haven’t raised to support these insane prices. I’m never getting ready of my 2013 Camry. I was going to buy a new F150 in 2022 to replace my current 2015, but I decided against it when I saw the dealer gouging. I’m going to drive that into the ground and put a new engine in it before I pay prices like this for a truck.

Take care of your Outback and it will take care of you. I drive a 2012 Outback, 160 M miles, no major repairs other than an expected timing belt change, which is no longer required. I took it to the dealer and they offered me 2700 for it! They did not want it on their lot. Actual value is 6000. My car drives as quietly and strong as the day I got it. A new one is about 34000...very reasonable by today's standards. I plan on driving my 2012 for another few years.

I wish car companies would leave the cheaper option on the market. Ford has done away with the cheaper option, Chrysler ditched the cheaper option across it's divisions. Or even have the basic as an option in a vehicle. Not everybody wants a jacked up F-150 with rims and add ons. There are people out there who want the basic truck. I know when I went to a couple of Toyota dealerships in Calgary. Almost every truck was jacked up with rims and dumbass add on. Trying to find the basic truck was worse then Where's Waldo.

Manufacturers need to stop playing the scam Optional equipment game to jack up the price.
Make the model, and price it, whatever is in it, not as an optional equipment, screw that scam.
When you make a model and put equipment in it's not optional equipment, as you cannot remove it!
Is the dealer going to remove the optional equipment?
It's like buying a Quarter Pounder with Cheese, there's no option to buy it without cheese, you can ask them to hold the cheese, but is the price going to change? Probably not.
    Optional scam....
Optional equipment should only be charged if the customer ordered it, not the dealer ordering it for them, assuming they want it.

I now have a comfortable lifestyle that I earned with hard work. Most of those people under bridges chose to start taking drugs which cost them their families, their jobs and their health. The average is the mean average and the numbers get inflated by gigantic overpriced models. The median average is best to use to understand what people are actually paying. Plus it would be nice to see into the financing game. Best wishes!

People only care about the payment. If they can throw away $1,000 to $1,500 a month, they do not care what it costs to buy or how expensive it is to repair/quality/durability. The mentality has made a total shift. A $100K truck made sense only when it was used for business purposes to reduce taxable income through depreciation expense, mileage deductions, and a purchase or lease plus insurance expense. Now people buy these for personal transportation without any reduction in taxable income.

its the very top tier trims that are 100k and 80-90k is more realistic.....there are plenty in the 50k range

I am fortunate to have the money to buy these trucks, but they don't represent value for the money. I would expect a 100k truck to run at least 10 years with little worry, which is not the case. I prefer to buy a used vehicle privately and then spent the money on upgrades and repair.

A lot of time with the car dealers do when they got a full lot it takes some of the trucks 15 of them. Take them back in the back and then make it look like peoples are buying their trucks when they not it’s a game that they. planing so don’t fall in that trap I wouldn’t care if they in the back or in the front I’m not paying that much money double for a truck and so your drive off the lot you don’t lost $50,000 because it wasn’t worth number 50,000 anyway and you paid $100 thousand like a fool

Monthly payments. I was looking yesterday on the internet at new pickups. It didn't matter what brand. A $55,000 new pickup. Monthly payments of over $800. Even one was $45,000. Still. Monthly payment of over $800. Average price of a new pickup. Monthly payment of $1,200. No American can afford that. Only illegals. The get from $6,000 to $8,000 a month from our taxes for free. I was thinking of trading in my 2020 F150 tomorrow. Yet. Seeing what the monthly payments are. Not on anyone life. I will just pay it off and use it as my coffin when I die.
