    I'm a full time mechanic. I work on new Fords on a daily basis. The quality and problems that I've encountered on near new, low mileage Ford vehicles would blow your mind. In 20 years working on cars, I've never seen anything like this. America is in for some very dark days ahead.

      Society in general is suffering from a Crisis of Competency. It’s because everyone with any brains at all can see what’s happening and said “F this! I’m Out!” and retired early or simplified their life so they could work part time. Only the most delusional are still out there chasing the FAKE dollar.

    Josh, the saddest part of this story is it isn't just Ford. It's many industries. I do HVAC work and so many furnace and ac parts are obsolete it is so disheartening having to tell one of my customers, we can't get parts to fix your equipment anymore you need a new one. Even though it's only 10 years old. Makes me wish we could bring factories back here to manufacture our own parts.

      This is due to the planned obsolesce of consumer goods to keep us trapped in a buying cycle, all to keep the wheels of capitalism running, but not in favour of the consumer!

      @@fredwilliams7893I agree you can find parts but as another HVACR Tech I’m not going to stand behind that part with my 90 day warranty if my distributors won’t either. My labor costs a lot and I still need to pay bills. Some parts can take a day to install would you like to do it for free and eat the price of that part. Then if I were to give them the option and it continues to break because the part sucks that customer could have saved the extra $1500 and just put it towards the new unit. It’s a circle of terror and big manufacturers are to blame.

      @z71btruck I don't know! But I do know my my condenser started having problems and turns out it was the fan motor then the relay switch. Total cost 200 bucks and that was 3 years ago. New condensers cost 5 ton10 grand! So in my case I saved thousands buying cheap parts instead of a whole new unit !

    My wife and I bought a used Toyota Highlander years ago at a Toyota dealership. After a few years and having it regular serviced for oil changes and such, a few days before my wife had to make a long trip in the dead of summer, the air conditioner had a problem. We called the dealer and he said it was probably just a sensor and to drop it off around lunch time the next day, get something to eat and it will be ready. He said it would probably cost around $275 to fix it.
    Great, we did just that, got some lunch, came back, and the guy gave us the keys and said, "well, no charge". I asked why and he said that when they pull the part, Toyota said that sensor should have lasted at least to 180k miles, you only have 130k. So parts and labor are free. That sold me for life! There is a Toyota and a Lexus in my garage and it will always stay that way. Do you think Ford, GM, BMW or any other car maker would even think of doing something like that??? NEVER!

      @@StoneyRidgeFarmer I bet Ford will get even worse because with the wage increases from the UAW strike (which was a good thing) I doubt that money will come out of the CEO's million dollar salary. Ford will find a way to use even cheaper parts and lower quality.

      You will never regret it, I had a 2005 4Runner that I sold for $5,000 at 300,000 miles and it was still running strong. I just sold my 2005 Toyota Corolla for $3,800 at 213,000 miles running strong, only oil changes on both vehicles and a new head gasket on the corolla at 180,000 miles!! The sales amount at that high of mileage tells you the high regard these vehicles have. You can't go wrong with a Toyota. They are over engineered.@@StoneyRidgeFarmer

      My 2012 tacoma has 205000 miles on it and the only major mechanical trouble I've had was an alternator about a month ago. Very very pleased with that truck.

    In April I bought a truck nearly 20 years old and invested in restoring it mechanically. It actually cost me less than buying new junk.

      I bought my Ram diesel truck used in 1999, it’s now 28 years old, I can’t see myself ever needing a new truck and all the problems. It has 206,000 miles 🤷‍♀️

      I have a 1999 f350 diesel 7.3 that I hope to keep forever. It only had 110,000 miles. I don't drive it often. Just use it when I want to or need a pickup to move stuff. I have the daily toyota but love my 7.3 diesel. In my opinion the best engine Ford has ever made. I would never consider paying almost 100k on a new diesel. I rather invest in this used one that has plenty of life left. God bless all and happy holidays 🇺🇸

    We have a client with an older ford quad cab dually. We couldn’t do an alignment, I think it was too long. He took it to ford. He told them he needed a truck. He runs a farm. They gave him a focus. He packed it with hay bales and ran it all over his farm 😂

    Okay, I'm 68 years old so that's over 50 years of driving, and have had many Fords all my life, but my last 3 vehicles have been a Camry, a RAV4, and now my Tacoma. I still keep my V10 Excursion and my '94 Cougar out of stubbornness ' because I just can't let them go, but after having Toyotas, Ford has permanently lost me.

      this video ended with bad Ford sales practices... but Toyota sales practices are WAYYYYYYY worse. Borderline scam. Good luck with that. They're doing the same thing to customers but their fanbase eats it up and wants more. Gone are the days of the 90's Camry reliability. I wouldn't touch a Toyota made after 2010.

      I was going to say that it vastly depends on the dealer itself since they are basically privately owned. My experience was with Honda though. The one closest to me is absolute garbage. Talking now about service and parts department. So I drive 50 miles one way and honestly couldn't ask for better service. But then again, entirely different brand.

      Nothing's changed at Ford in 40 years. 1982 I bought a new car from their dealer. Water leaked thru all the windows when it rained. I mean the trunk filled with water. The floor pans where you feet rested front and back seats filled with water till it reached the sills and poured out the bottom of the doors. After many failed attempts to correct this the car became moldy and stinky and mildewy. The engine never ran smooth, lots of banging and surging. The vehicle spent 5 months of it's first year at the dealership, and was vandalized while in their possession. I was forced to hire a lawyer, sue them in court, and successfully got my lawyer fees and vehicle cost back to me. So not surprised at your runaround, I haven't the time to go into other issues with the car, the dealership, Ford motors.. Customer satisfaction not their concern. Them going out out of business, not my concern.

      I had a brother in law (R.I.P.) that sold cars for a living at various dealerships and to him, the worst one to sell for was Ford. He literally had to leave there because the owner was forcing him to lie to the customers about the quality and the resale value, bla bla bla. He couldn't do it.

    As a mechanic for 30plus years I deal with this every day for all makes. It seems like we spend as much time talking and educating customers about poor quality in newer vehicles and lack of support from the manufacturers as we do working on the vehicle.

    I just sold my 2018 Raptor after four replacements of the Cam Phasers as well as the front vacuum lock system for the 4WD which went out 3 times. I traded it up for a 2024 Tundra, and I was super impressed and pleased! I feel you, friend.

    I have a 03 F-250 with the last of the 7.3's. 52,000 miles on it. I only use it when I need a truck. There were a few hiccups with it when I bought it, but its overall been a reliable vehicle. I hope it will last as long as I do because new trucks are crazy expensive, complex, and less reliable.

      I have a 94' F150 long bed XLT, I drive it every day and routinely get compliments on it. Cheap and easy to work on, everything works as designed and just like these fancy 85k trucks it runs, drives and hauls cargo.

      I have put 100’s of thousands on my Toyota’s I was a tech at AAA shops I saw the most trouble free miles on Toyota’s than any other car or trucks

      Toyota is the only one left. However, the new Tundra no longer comes with the 5.7L it's the 3.5 twin turbo and lotsa recalls on new/newer vehicles. Now North America wants to phase out gas engine to only have more pollution mining minerals for EV auto batteries and to power all of this. I'm gonna build a long box 4×4 diesel/bio diesel 3/4 ton van. F**k the Government

    Thank you for posting this. I too have a 2017 Raptor with very similar problems. The rattle when starting but my biggest issue has been the transmission. Several times I had to take it in and they had to change the link pin (supposedly).
    I’ve been a loyal Ford pickup owner for over 25 years and for the first time I’m seriously considering switching to another truck manufacturer.
    Very sad that Ford’s quality has deteriorated so much that they are willing to lose long time loyal customers.

    I am 65 years old and have been a true diehard Ford fan since I bought my first truck when I was 17 years old. Our whole farm family only owned Ford vehicles and lots of them. Well here's one for you since you asked. My 2021 F150 lariat super cab with 28,000 miles on it has had its issues as well. I parked my truck in the driveway at 9PM like I usually do. Next morning, my key fobs wouldn't unlock the truck doors. I had to use a manual key to unlock the door and realized I had zero power in the truck. I called my dealership as I have bumper-to-bumper and they sent a tow truck over. They could not get the truck started by power pack to be able to put the truck in neutral. He slid the tires up the rollback ramp and took it to the dealership. They would not be able to get to it till the next day so I asked for a loaner. I was told no loaners for at least three or four days. I mentioned that that wasn't the conversation I had in the finance office when purchasing this truck. Within two hours, I drove off with a 2024 F250 loaner. Days later service called and said they had to put a new battery in. I also had them address my radio randomly changing stations and some console items acting weird, as well as the hard shifting like you had. They reset the solenoid in the transmission and updated the firmware in the truck's computer system. Upon picking up my vehicle, I was advised that the service manager misspoke and I did not get a new battery. It was completely dead so they just recharged it. I asked why the battery drained. They told me that maybe I left the light on to which I responded it turns itself off and you should know that. Then they told me that I was keeping my key fob in the house too close to the vehicle, activating its sensory system or some BS like that. I asked to speak to the technician who performed the battery testing and was told he's not available. I was not happy as I accused them of playing time games with my warranty, which expires in about a month. I checked my battery often at home after this, each time it was just under 12 V therefore, technically I was not supposed to do a load test under 12 volts. My neighbors boyfriend just so happens to be a service technician for the dealership's other outlet. He said the computer firmware update is a big factor and is what most likely went wrong with your battery. My truck is set up to do auto firmware updates using my Wi-Fi from the house. The truck's Wi-Fi itself apparently has had its issues as well, which prompted part of this firmware update. I checked my security cameras for the timeframe that my battery had depleted and could see my console screen was lighting up blue in color occasionally and then stayed on for a while. My keys were in the house. My truck was locked. Nothing was left on. My purchasing pattern is, I usually keep my vehicles 3 to 4 years after buying them new. I have a 2020 Ford Expedition that has had more recalls on it than I've ever seen on any vehicle and tomorrow the wife and I start the process again of purchasing a new vehicle to replace the Expedition, however, this time it will be a Chevrolet Tahoe. Like you, I am done dealing with Ford. That mechanic guy also said the EV pickup trucks are just sitting as nobody wants them. So yea, go figure, some climate leaf eater pulled the trigger way too soon on that. Perhaps they thought they were going to get a tree named after them for their good job in helping to sink the combustion engines of the Ford Motor Company. Genius.........

    Rule 1: Never buy any vehicle that has cylinder deactivation. Even if made well, the temperature differential from the unused cylinders causes head gaskets to leak and ruin your engine.
    Rule 2: Never buy an undersized turbo charged engine, always opt for the larger non-turbo engine if available.
    Just saved you tens of thousands of dollars.

      Or tune out the deactivation for $200 (Range device or tune). Not 100% effective at lifter failure prevention, but might just save your engine.

      Yes going with a 6cyl Tacoma or 4Runner in the 2023. My 2019 Ford Ranger with Turbo boost has had the transmission go out of it at 69000 miles and they have had it for 6weeks now and don’t plan on getting to it till mid January 2024 at earliest.

    I learned this lesson many years ago. I’ve always found that it cost me less to do my own work to repair things and takes less time if I don’t have to deal with anyone else if I just do it myself. Since age 15 I’ve pretty much done enough work on all of my vehicles and can call myself the best mechanic I know. I have amassed enough tools to tackle almost any job, and when I’m on the road I generally know the issue just by the sound. those are just a few of the benefits of learning to work on your own vehicles. I am now over 50 years old and have my own car lift, and will never own a home without one. Being a mechanic (an engineer actually) and having looked under the hood of Ford pick up trucks, I would never buy one. I have a 2003 Dodge Cummins 1 ton pick up, and that engine has been so easy to work on. You can actually see the engine unlike a Ford! I just changed my water pump and it took less than one hour. Do that in a Ford! I have never bought a warranty on anything in my life. Financially, I am so far ahead it isn’t even funny. Having never bought a warranty in my life has the added benefit of always knowing that I don’t have to wonder if I have one… and ‘where in that damn receipt!’

      Dodge with Cummins are bulletproof .. smart man. Regular doses are junk like ford. They all are except Toyota they aren’t built for failure.. they are built for high mileage.

      Same here but I still need to get my own lift. I've saved hundreds of thousands over the years doing my own repairs and maintenance on all of our cars and houses. What for others is a crisis, for me is a minor inconvenience to be addressed on a Saturday morning.

      god bless you, I thought I was the only one that thought that way, I have had new cars under warranty and have made handshake deals with the service guys to give me the parts let me do it, I will let your guy inspect it and get the labor time, and yes I also have a 7,000 pound lift, no other way to get things done

    I worked for Ford Australia during the 1980s. I was looking after suppliers of electrical and electronic parts. The injector relays were a high warranty cost problem. I suggested that we replace them with Bosch relays. The answer came back as NO bcause they had to comply with the corporate design manual. Plus the relays came from Ford Electronic Division. So the company just kept replacing them - which cost over $120,000 a year. The stupidity is built into their systems.

    I have bought and owned and operated around 2 dozen Ford trucks +four Cars since 1972--(construction) and yes, a few problems, but in every case Ford stepped up and took "care of business"..I still have my 1996 F250 7.3 Diesel and am currently driving my 2016 F150 Echo-boost . I just purchased a new 2023 Explorer and it is doing well.

      Not Toyota or Lexus! I have had nothing but these manufacturers products for 25 years. The 2019 Mustang Bullitt was a good vehicle when new. But I’ve had more problems with the Mustang than all the Toyota products combined over 25 years. And on the rare occasion I need work done the Toyota dealer is prompt, friendly and quick. After my Mustang gets repaired AGAIN, I am selling it and getting a Toyota Supra. I also have a 2022 Ram Power Wagon. I’ve only had it about 8 months, but it has only required oil changes, which my Ram dealer handles promptly and appropriately. It isFord that is the problem, with Bradley Ford in Lake Havasu City, AZ being an additional problem for an unreliable vehicle. Last time it was in the shop they kept it for two months while refusing me a loaner car. No more Fords, and no more service at Bradley until I get rid of the POS they sold me!

Plan to keep to 75k miles or so. Actually the tech in many respects is not as good but it is such a nice car to drive. Quieter than the Lexus and even a Q5 would have be much better in terms of acceleration handling etc.

    Similar issue happened with a friend's dodge 2500 bought brand new in 18. The rear transfer case wasn't getting lubricant to the top of the gears and would basically make obnoxious sounds and then freeze up. The engineers determined that replacing the fluid every 3k miles was determined to be the best option. He had the rear end rebuilt 5 times in two years with his truck being out of service for months. He finally after warranty expired replaced the whole rear axel and hasn't had issue since. But nonetheless a 80k dollar truck that is going to be in the shop all the time is not worth it.

      At least mopar rebuilt the rear end. I had a 2015 Chevy 3500 that was pissing oil out of the axle where it mated with the differential. I monitored it and before the warrenty ran out I took it in to get fixed, the service guy said we wiped it down with a rag, if it leaks again bring it back. You think I hadn’t been doing that. I had another issue that another Chevy dealer in Pa said they rewired the entire rear end of my truck. They even charged a dealer down in Texas for it. Turns out they didn’t touch a damn thing on it. I still had mud from Texas on all the wiring they claimed to have just replaced brand new. Bunch of con-artists running these dealerships nowadays.

    I recently had a problem with my 2018 f150 .
    The truck has 64.000 miles on it.
    The truck has the coyote 5.0 in it.
    I took the truck i n
    n or a Transmission flush and to replace the 6 year old battery.
    While I waited and was chatting with the owners wife, I was called to the garage by the mechanic.
    That’s when he informed me my power steering rack was shot and needed to be replaced.
    The wheel would not turn at all.
    Then he informed me the part is on an indefinite back order.
    I waited 3 weeks for the part mind you slightly used .
    It came from a Canadian supplier lol, I’m in Michigan so no big deal.
    It was replaced next day and I have been on the road ever since.
    When I picked up the truck no cost to me. The mechanic asked me if I bought the truck new, I said hell no I bought it used from a dealer at 30.000 miles at exactly 1 year old.
    He told me and showed me the rack had been replaced before to my surprise.
    The he showed me the Junkyard over marks on the old part.
    Apparently ford has had this problem for sometime with the f150
    Be aware.
    Now the new used rack is out of a 2022 F150.
    The shop paid 480.00 for part
    It would have cost 1,700,00 new.
    Thank god I got it at 1 percent financing @ 27,000 a year old.
    Stickered at almost 60.000 new.

    I feel your pain, I'm going through much of the same with my $74,000 F-150 Tremor, nothing but problems with this truck. It's been into the dealer twice and told it was fixed just to find out it wasn't. It's going in for a third time and if every issue is not fixed I will be calling ford and possibly filing for the lemon law. It's a 2022 with 47,000 miles now but baught it new with 3 miles on it. I've had 4 F-150 trucks and Ford's all of my life, I'm 58. This will be the last Ford product I buy. As for the loaner vehicle, the first time they did rent me a car (not a truck) the second time they loaned me a truck with about 100 miles on it and it had a seriously bad vibration but I drove it anyway. I have been told when I take it in again there will be no loaner vehicle so I'm expected to walk, borrow a vehicle, ride one of my motorcycles or rent.
    Completely lost my future buisiness and trust. Oh they did say they would give me a ride home if I live within 20 miles, guess what, I live 25 miles away, guess they will stop at the 20 mile mark and just drop me at the side of the road.

    I’m a mechanical engineer working for last 43 years. The problem is a lack of engineers with fabrication/hands on experience. We have a lot of of computer based analysts who don’t how things work. They all want to be Oppenheimers & don’t want to get their hands dirty.

      In my personal opinion ford knew how to build a strong dependable truck back in the 1990’s but somewhere along the way they discovered how to build vehicles that last just long enough to pay them off before major problems start to appear and it’s an endless cycle of diagnose and repair thereafter.

    I had a 2014 F-150 Ecoboost that had nothing but problems with the front end components, the barrings on the turbos going out at 65,000, another set going out at 128,000 ish, and then the turbos going out at 139,000'ish. They quoted me $7,400 to repair and replace and I refused to fix them. I sold the truck as is to the dealership, walked across the street to Toyota, bought a 2021 Tundra TRD Pro double cab, and wish to God I had bought it in 2014 instead. Night and day better truck.

    I got an 08 Thundra. Drove it 400 miles with no transmission oil. No problem. Added 13 gallon of motor oil. Drove it 400 miles. No problem. Drain motor oil add transmission fluid. Drove it 200 thousand miles still working good. Only brake pads and oil change and the truck kept on driving 👍

    The last bad experience I had at a dealership was for my wife’s Subaru. I took it up because it had an emissions fault and was supposed to be under warranty. Turns out it wasn’t under warranty due to rodent damage. They wanted like $1500 to put a whole new wiring harness in. I said show me the damage. A rat had chewed two wires in two. I butt spliced them back together. Took 5 minutes but you know they were taking advantage of customers. Reliable Subaru Springfield, Mo

      My girlfriend purchased a 2022 Forester from Reliable Subaru Springfield MO. The hands down worst dealership experience ever. The salesman messed up the paperwork multiple times and each time we had to drive one and a half hours from FLW to correct the mistake.

      Same here. The pre 2018 5.0 is the best engine. Before they added direct injection and cylinder deactivation. I have 135000 on mine.

    My step dad passed away recently and requested we get his 2019 Ford Ranger. It was lightly used and has maybe 19k miles on it. So I go to look at it and open the hood. The hood would not stay open, I looked for the rod to hold it up. I didn't take long to figure two piston/prop rods on the sides are supposed to hold it up. Apparently they went bad already and I know that hood was only opened for oil changes. Makes me wonder what corners they cut on important things. Ironic as a joke when I was a kid was that FORD stood for 'Fix or repair daily'.

      A breath of fresh air the first 15 pages in this story are blank and we are supposed to believe it's been in a glass house ad and taken care of and so on dealerships are a nightmare from my own experience with ford but he lost me when he bought used be it from the queen of England it he got it brand new and this was his story I get it but his book is missing the beginning of the story when he wasn't around and to just throw the whole company under the bus WOW

    I feel you brother, I went through that headache recently with my brand new, zero miles f150 with 3.5 V6. I had it for about six months before it broke down on me and was at a Ford dealer for repairs for over a month with no loaner vehicle offered to me until 3 weeks into the problem and not before I called corporate. I thankfully was able to return the vehicle to Ford and recieved most of my money back because I thankfully heard of the Lemon Law. Good luck, and I won't go back to Ford either.

      One of the reasons I left a Ford dealership was because one of my customers had a similar experience, His F150, actually his company"s, had an issue with I believe the timing chain that took a couple of weeks to resolve. I argued with the manager to at least give the guy one of the used trucks on the lot for a loaner. They refused. They lost a customer that potentially could have led to much more business.

      So sad. What happened to ford? My 2012 f150 5.0,6 speed auto finally died. Transmission went ar 662000km. All original. I went with a silverado but I'm not happy. Almost wish I had gone with a Japanese truck.

    I had a 2017 F150 with the 3.5l engine with the following issues: 1- cam phaser but did not fix before trading it in, 2- 2 oil leaks near to of engine and they replaced gaskets, 3- transmission cable replaced, 4- license plate light socket replaced, 5- one turbo replaced along with a manifold. 6- electronic main switch for different sensors like ABS etc... 7- tailgate hinge replaced, 8- a few other small issues...
    Oh yeah always used synthetic oil and 91 octane gaz, I traded it after 44 000 km, which is about 36 000 miles. I now have a 2023 Toyota Tundra. Unfortunately, I still have my 2019 mustang and 2020 Escape. The Mustang is great, but the Escape has had some issues, but not as bad as my F150 😢

    As a mechanic for over 48 years and a truck junkie for 60. I saw the writing in the wall when Ford introduced this 3.5 twin turbo as a truck engine. It was a quick fix to meet regulations. Small underpowered displacement, so you put twin turbos on it as cheap power adder. Knowing there's already cam phaser and oiling issues. The Raptor should have only had the 5.0 coyote option. Sorry about your issues, but like the comments mention it's industry wide.

      Nothing is wrong with turbos. Americans in general just make low quality, disposable sht that's built with planned obsolescence in mind. They can't even make a reliable NA engine, let alone FI. Europeans and Japanese vehicles have no issues with using forced air.

      The 3.5 isn't what it's cracked up to be, but it's no less reliable than a V8. The 2.7 "nano" on the other hand, is probably Ford's best engine, most reliable too. In my opinion, if an F-150 w/ a 2.7 isn't powerful enough to haul or tow whatever you need, you should be looking for an F-250 w/ a diesel. I'm just say'n.....

      All of the big three domestic full size trucks are garbage. It starts with the active fuel management systems (cylinder deactivation) that can cause engine failures right off the lot. Longevity is a thing of the past. Garbage parts and shoddy assembly. Quality is a mess. Toyota or Honda is about all that's left standing and they don't necessarily have a vehicle that fits the needs of all customers. Thankfully, my Dodge Challengers were built in Brampton, Canada which closed in December. My daily drivers are Honda or Toyota.

    I have been an employee of FOMC for 30 yrs and in that time have purchased 11 Ford products, most recently a ‘18 Edge which will be my last. Just had to replace engine due to coolant intrusion with only 104k miles. This is a common issue with the 2.0 Ecoboost and Ford refuses to take responsibility thus leaving me and other customers with a $9k bill. So long Ford

    Same in australia. I have owned 3 new ford viechles all with issues. I paid 50k for a new xr6 turbo ute. It kept steering to the left from brand new. Never fixed after 6 trips to the dealer. I traded it in. Then I paid 85k for a fpv gt. Supercharged v8. I drove it out of the dealership brand new with 5 km on the clock. It rained and the way home and windscreen wipers did not work. Then they tried to charge me 1500 dollars to fix it. After 5 trips to the dealer argueing they put an auto electrician on it and turns out the wiper motors were burnt out. Replaced it.
    I purchased a manual ford ranger px2 for 55k. The ford ranger clutch blew out at 90000km. After several arguements i had to go to the government for help as they refused to honor the warranty. After the government ordered ford to replace the clutch they had to place an upgraded after market clutch in it as they did not have any new spare clutches in australia. When they installed the new clutch the clowns got oil on the clutch plate. Now i have to double clutch to get in to first 3 out of 4 times. Then they destroyed the tyre pressure senses changing tyres. Then denyed doing it.
    Never going to buy ford again. Thinking Toyota

    My dad always told me, buy the simplest tuck you can stand. Modern American trucks are no longer trucks (durable work vehicles), but glorified luxury vehicles and the amount of issues they have reflects that. The irony is that Toyota seems to be the brand that best understands the expectations of truck owners from a service and reliability stand point. Owners want a reliable capable truck, and straight forward honest customer service when things go wrong. I think American truck companies are about a generation away from being in really really bad shape, and we're already starting to see the cracks.

      Even more ironically, Nissan seems even more in tune, offering only N/A v8 power in the Titan and not all these complex twin turbo stressed engines, and generally great Japanese durability. Now they are gonna stop making it because of misplaced big 3 brand loyalty.

      My Nissan Hardbody is very basic. Only a carburetor truck would be more simple. I like it more each year as I see these guys paying 80k for a rig that lives in the repair shop.
      One payment of $2500, 29 years ago.
      It's shocking that Nissan can't sell the Titan with their good truck reputation. I guess the big pickup boys want to pay to share misery stories about their favorite American brands.

      Now a Toyota Tacoma needs a POWER tailgate?
      Really wish my father would have saved that old 1964 F 100 for me, instead of selling it to someone who destroyed it.

    Josh, man, I feel your pain. This is becoming so common from the Big Three, and particularly Ford.
    One way consumers can determine whether or not they are getting a good product, is to listen in on the quarterly investment calls with stock analyst. This is where publicly traded companies like Ford have to detail their performance and basically “pull back the curtains” on any anomalies on the balance sheet.
    For the last several years, CEO Jim Farley has had his team set aside 100’s of millions of dollars for “warranty and quality” expenditures.
    I believe in the October quarterly that number was over $1B.
    So to its shareholders, Ford is admitting they can no longer build a trouble free product.
    The fact that this number has been building every quarter for years is the best indicator that the consumer has of a systemic quality problem within.
    All companies set aside expenditures for warranty, that’s normal. Stuff sometimes goes wrong. The “tell” is whether or not that number builds over time.
    Marketing is all BS.
    It’s the analyst calls where they must come clean or they violate SEC regulations and can end up in serious hot water.
    Best of luck resolving the issue.

      That’s what happens when bean counters run a company. I’m sure a bunch of engineers cry foul whenever a bad part is discovered, but Ford ships it anyways. They did exactly this with the PowerShift transmission, which never worked right and the company knew it all along.

    Man, I'm sorry to hear about your experience with this dealership. These issues you have had are very legitimate issues and deserved to be talked about publicly. There is a major distinction you need to make aware to yourself between the quality of work and service provided by a single dealership, and an entire company as a whole. I have worked in the automotive industry for 6+ years and have worked at a Detroit Diesel dealership for another 2 years. Unfortunately, to most people, experiences with a company's dealership effect their opinion of an entire company. There are a lot of shitty dealerships out there. What makes a dealership dysfunctional is typically not the product they sell, but the service provided by the people who happen to work at a particular facility. A company can sell a product that has early developing defects and retain happy customers with good service. A company can sell a product with no early developing defects and easily lose customers by the bad service provided by an individual branch. I would hate to see people steer clear of a product due to being mislead about the overall quality of a company's product based off of some slightly misleading claim by a popular video on the internet. The badge on the hood of the vehicle they buy instead of a Ford, due to a video like this, does not make them safe from terrible service from another terrible dealership that sell another equally adequate product. This all being said, seriously shit service from that dealership and anyone should be absolutely irate about it.

      the dealership didn't sell a truck with an engine problem though.....although I had poor customer service....I still shouldn't have had a truck like this falling apart under 100k miles.     Your story drives home the simple truth that the American work force is failing across the board. Every industry in America is having similar issues. We major on packing our products full of high tech gizmos and forget all about quality build and durability. I have thought for a few years about buying a new truck, but every time I start shopping for one I get scared off by these very issues. So, I will keep driving my 2004 Ram 1500 work truck. I might do some upgrades to it. But it is mechanically simple and very dependable. I've never had a problem with it beyond normal wear and tear issues. Of course, parts availability might be an issue at some point. But so far it hasn't been. I hope you find a resolution for your Ford Raptor issues.

      I make good money....but choose older vehicles I can fix them myself.....no "gizmo's" or touch screen.....I just need a Aux cable to Connect to older 4 speaker stereo....no other advanced tech desired

      The issue is that Ford, GM, and Stellantis are more worried about share holders and stock prices than anything else and the more stuff they can jam onto a truck, the higher it will cost, and the more profit they get per vehicle. The "big 3" look to make their money NOT on the original purchase, but on all of the repair work and parts you will need to buy over and over and over to keep it running. Remember, many companies now build cars and trucks "for life", but that "for life" is only the length of the warranty and NOT 10 or 15 years, its now 3 years/36000 and after that they don't care. It is sad, Ford used to be so good.

    It's not just Ford. Most new models no matter what brand are having supply problems. And your uncle seems to have sold you, his problem. But you're right about one thing. Older models without all the whistles, and bells were a lot more reliable.

    2010 F150- two heater cores, stranded multiple times due to electrical issues which required a new fuse box, the paint and trim quality are awful. Not going to buy another one.

    Before I retired from one of the big 3 automakers I could see the decline beginning. Government and internal policies resulted in hiring weak, unprepared, unmotivated and entitled personnel into the salaried ranks. This poisoned the corporate culture and it spread like a disease. The trend continues.

    Thank you for sharing the objective truth. I'm 31 with an engineering education & experience, and it is extremely obvious to me that the quality of just about everything we interact with in our lives is on a downward trajectory. Corporate greed & lack of caring for the customers is eroding people's trust & directly/indirectly harming our collective quality of life. We have to turn this around somehow & restore people's desire for quality & authenticity. We've been sliding down a slippery slope for at least the past few decades.

      The problem isn't that they cannot make quality vehicles while saving money, that is a good thing. The problem now is they are making very complex vehicles with lots of expensive electronics doing way more than is needed. Expensive finicky parts tend to fail. Stick with the more basic vehicles and your reliability will go up. K.I.S.S. Keep it simple stupid.

      Coincidentally America has been in a downward spiral ever since the immigration act of 1965 was signed into law. That displaced thousands of our workers with highly unqualified unskilled workers. Worst is the healthcare industry where it’s half immigrants. Malpractice across the table since they give out med degrees to foreigners to meet diversity quotas.

    This is not just a Ford problem. Every manufacturer of automobiles are having the same trouble. I see and hear these problems and I understand the frustration. On the other hand I have a 2020 F250 7.3 liter with 70,000 miles and it has never had a problem or been back in the shop.

    Ford F250 Diesel nightmare for me. I hired a lemon law attorney after a year of constant breakdowns. I explained my experience to my attorney without telling him about my make or model. He said it sounds like a Ford. Apparently they are notorious for jacking around their customers.
    I have purchased 4 Toyotas since. I was hard for me to wrap my head around vehicles running good at 200k miles.

    Josh, I purchased the 2020 F-350 Tremor Diesel. At 29,000 km the air intake system plugged up with snow and ice, the result was damage to the turbo and engine. Truck went into local dealer for assessment, 30 days later finally got word back that it would not be covered on warranty because it was a result of “road conditions”. Up here in Canada we have a road condition called winter, when it snows the blowing snow actually forces its way into the air box which is located right behind the grill. Final after 4 months, I paid to get the turbo fixed myself, within a week I traded the truck in on a brand new Duramax… I will never buy a cord product again. Ford Canada was absolutely useless in backing up any warranty claim.

      While traveling through Southern Illinois with my family, we saw a car sitting on the street (across from a used car dealer). It had lemons stuck all over it, and the guy held a sign saying 'Come see my lemon'. We ate lunch and when we came back out to continue our trip, the car was in the car dealer's lot with the hood open. It doesn't take the internet every time!

      Nothing beats advertising. Many years back I had a friend that bought a brand new Chrysler New Yorker. It spent most of the first year in the shop, He kept returning it for the same things over and over. At 18 months old, it was still f**ked up, and the dealer wouldn't do anythng. He still had his old car because of the unreliability of the new one. Where he lived, there was legal parallel parking in front of the dealer available 24/7. He parked the New Yorker there and painted lemons all over it. They called the cops, but the cops told them it was legally parked and there was nothing they could do. It sat there for over 2 months. The dealer finally gave in and gave him a brand new one just to get him to move it.

      Our mercury villager was in & out of Ford shop .
      They fix ,
      we drive ,
      we return ,
      They fix ,
      After the 5th,
      A young apprentice was risking his job,
      Come out afterward ,
      And told me,
      There's no need to return for service,
      We just spray , clean wipe, the exygen sensor , and you're paying too much for a 10 min clean job.
      He suggested , buy a used sensor, it could last better than the faulty sensor we got there.
      We did , drive 3 more yrs, and retire her as spare for occasional use.
      Lesson learned ,
      Dealership service shop are CASH COW,
      and FORD motor didn't even response to my complaint of this practice .
      Both Ford & dealership 23:05 lost my business forever

      ​@@enzoh7763this is likely true I don't use them for anything I do my own work and own research when something is wrong I'm an enthusiast who mods cars to go faster. Relying on the dealer to fix stuff for you isn't smart and this is proof of what I already believed. I think this happens far more than some wanna admit. Using dealers for maintenence and to fix things isn't a good idea imo and could be the majority of people's issues. I have a 2016 fiesta st 1.6 ecoboost since new it's dead reliable at 120k I've always maintained it though and I do my own work never rely on dealers for anything. Mine is modified making 60% more hp than stock has been since 40k and tuned since 2800 miles. Now see l beat it alot but don't beat it cold and always maintain it properly. Having a basic understanding of how vehicles works helps alot actually. Too many are clueless and have to rely on terrible modern dealers it's no wonder people have issues. Many don't have basic understanding of how they work and skip out on maintenence.

    I feel your pain man. I have been a Ford man for 40 years and have always bought new Fords. My buddy purchased a new Ranger in 2019. Had an accident in 2021 and had to have the passengers door replaced with some other parts. The body shop waited for 3 months for door hinges....We thought it was BS so we call dealers in a 200 mile range. They couldn't even get the parts. How stupid is that!!!

    I have 4 f250’s 2015, 2017, and 2 2020’s. All 4 with the 6.2 v8. All of them have been extremely reliable and no issues at outside of normal maintenance. Each of them are well past 150k miles and one of them is way up to 270k. Just my experience but I’ve never had this good of luck with any other manufacturer besides Toyota

    Every Ford product I've had over the last 20+ years has been problematic. From engines that just went at 120k miles (meticulous maintenance) to transmission failures at 10k. Never again.

    Over 30 years as a full time mechanic. Unfortunately these horror stories are common. Rec a tundra or buy an older model not in rust belt. People are getting crushing repair bills that can truly be life altering.

    I had the TCM issue, with rough shifting, in my 2019 F-150. When the lease was up, I turned it in and got a RAM 1500 and I love it. Looking at getting a RAM 2500 next time.

    My 2017 ford f150 v8 lariat, which was purchased brand new. I purchased it because I absolutely loved my 2007 f150, v8 Lariat which I had for 9 years and I just wanted a new one because it was a great vehicle. No complaints. I abused the sunroof on that old truck and never a problem. The problems I have with the 2017 are below.
    1. My sunroof has same problem as you show in your video. It wont open or close. I barely use it. I had to figure out how to just keep it closed from another video with the same problem. Fixing it cost a fortune so I wont fix it.
    2. Rubbing noise from a vacuum hose stemming from using the 4 wheel drive. Had it fixed after 5 tries. Once fixed it starts rubbing again after turning on the 4wheel drive.
    3. Engine light came on at 36000 miles just after the warranty expired. I never fixed it. Still going strong though at 115k miles.
    4. Soon after purchase, on a trip to Chicago I used my gps to help me navigate the 4 hour trip there and through the city but I noticed half way there that the gps would not work . The touchscreen was also not working. I was told it needed to be updated etc but I never took it in because I would have needed to bring it in and leave it there etc and the cost would be $400 so I said forget it. Now after owning it for several years I figured out that it only stopped working when sirius radio was offering free listening which they do on holiday weeks. So when sirius radio allows for promo listening my gps and screen don't work. I don't listen to sirius and dont even want it but thats what it does during promos. Other than the promo it works it doesn't need to be updated.
    5. if you touch the key fab by mistake on the middle button it will open the tailgate while driving or slam into your garage door.
    I think the people who engineered this truck in that year must have been distracted. Too many flaws and the service departments are not efficient anymore. I drive it but not very satisfied. I am thinking toyota now.

      The 3.0 diesel’s are 💯 pure crap! Back in August 2023 I bought a new GMC SIERRA AT4 truck $80k with the 3.0 diesel, and after 10 days of ownership the DEF system went out and I was stranded on the side of the highway for two hours waiting on AAA to show up. GM told me that I would have to wait 3 months for the parts to fix the truck, and I told them I wasn’t waiting and that I would call an investigative news reporter and report the issue. Then all of the sudden the GM dealership where I bought it had claimed to have fixed the problem and I got my truck back. Three weeks later I was hauling my 22 Ft Carolina skiff boat with this vehicle and the diesel engine caught on fire while on the highway. The cause of the problem was a bad DEF sensor that wasn’t sending DEF fluid to the engine. At least this is what I was told by the service manager. I called GM, called an attorney etc. 7 days later GM refunded me the full purchase price of that vehicle. There have been many issues with the 3.0 diesel trucks from GM and yet GM still refuses to issue a formal recall. I also own a 2023 C8 Corvette, and have no issues. I currently have a 23 Tahoe, so far no real issues. But however, I’m hearing from other Tahoe owners that they are having issues with their vehicles. I feel that all American vehicles now are taking a serious nose dive in overall quality.

    My last F150 had the simple 302 v-8 1995. I put 508,000 miles on it. Never ever even had the valve covers off. Original water pump. Ran great. The new over complicated trucks today, forget it! Money pits, hell my first house was only $73,000 dollars.

      I own a 1994 F150xlt 4x4 with the 302. And I have 121,000 on the odometer. Only major work done was a transmission rebuild. I'll never sell that truck.

      also, my daily (work) driver is a 2016 F150 XLT crew cab, 4X4. 130000 miles on it, not a single issue with it ever. On the third set of tires, original brakes and rotors. 3.5L 6 speed. Flawless. I bought it in 2017 with 15K on the odometer. I may take that truck with me when I retire.

      I get 600,000 plus miles out of the small block Chevy vans. They stopped making the SB about 2002. I still try to find pre 2003 vans. The 302 and 351w was good Ford engines. Some of their engines were completely garbage though, like the 351c.

    Thanks for passing on your nightmare... I've got an '06 Chevy Silverado that's costing me for repairs as things wear out from age and WAS thinking of getting a new Ford F-150. After hearing your woes and researching the huge privacy issues in most (if not all) new vehicles, I think I'll keep fixing my current truck until parts are no longer available.

    Bro, your patience is way beyond what I would have been able to muster. I had a similar issue with dodge where the truck went in for service and came back with a significant fuel leak. They played the same games until I took it to Google reviews and yelp. After I did that, they were reaching out to me at the corporate level to make it right. They take those reviews really seriously because it can cost them a future sale or future service appointment. If you haven’t done that yet, I would take that route as well. I was surprised how quick the shit attitude I was getting from customer service turned into, “how can we make this right” in exchange for you taking that review down?

    I purchased at 2010 F-150 Ext. Cab in 2014. Have not had any problems with it. However, after hearing years of critical reviews since then, I will keep my older vehicle. Will not trade in, sell or buy new. I'm keeping my vehicle. May look old, but will not purchase newer.

    I had an extremely similar situation with my F-150. Had same issue with my transmission (harsh engagement) that they said needed to be re-flashed to factory settings. New flash: Truck still has the same harsh engagement between 3rd and 4th gear. Truck also went down with a part that broke that caused huge fuel leak. Truck went to the dealership for a few weeks. Like you, I could not get a loaner to get to work. Truck comes out of shop supposedly repaired. The very first night I drive to work which is 90 minutes away from home, same issue occurs again and fuel runs out of truck. Call dealership and they have to send a tow truck down to pick it up. In the process of getting under truck to search for origin of leak, I took my wrist watch off and put on seat of truck and forgot to put back on. Watch ended up missing from truck and never seen again. On the second repair, I STILL could not get a loaner vehicle. FORD is trash customer service. Absolute dumpster fire of customer service.

    Back in 2019 I was between a TRD Pro and Raptor. Raptor was more expensive, towed and hauled less, but was a more purpose built off-road truck and for sure had a higher “cool” factor. Ultimately chose the TRD Pro for exactly the reasons you detail in your video. The Tundra has never left me stranded and has never been in the shop outside of routine maintenence. I used to be a “Ford Guy” (Mustang, Explorer and Expedition,” but I am in the Toyota camp with my third vehicle and yet to have any issues.

      im toyota all the way, but they have zero cool factor these days, everything is so pointy. i've had several toyotas. i'm a mechanic and a truck driver. nothing beats toyota. there are failure points on older ones like the copper radiators but were talking 90's and older. i've put a radiator in every toyota i've owned lol. but mostly, no issues. head gasket once, door handle. minor stuff. when you consider head gaskets on american cars at the time was multiple times the cars life. not one at 200k.

    I had a 6.2L Ford Raptor and this was my experience with it. Multiple electrical issues and check engine lights, but the dealership technicians took the cake.
    1st time I took it to the dealer, they said it was ready and fixed. The technicians had eaten lunch in my truck. Bags and straw wrappers left inside my truck. Check engine light back on before I even made it home.
    2nd time I took it to the dealer, they had it 8 weeks, and curbed my $3000 rims. Took a chunk the size of a quarter out of the brand new front wheel. Had yellow curb paint on it, same curb paint right behind the dealership.
    I took back my 90k Raptor unfixed, and traded it in. Never again will I own a Ford anything, or let them ever touch a vehicle of mine.

    thank you for this one, I bought a 2009 f150 with 40k miles every time I took it into the dealer for service it was between 700 to 1000 bucks for so called "needed repairs" computer, charging system, head gasket on and on it was never ending I traded it in the same year I bought it for a new Toyota tacoma 275K miles later still running strong. never another ford or chevy product for me!

    I had a similar issue earlier this year with car repairs and I determined that the cars are so complicated that this is the new normal. I spent my whole life driving used vehicles and paying for repairs. This worked well for a very long time but I found out the hard way that the cost of repairs and finding a reputable mechanic is few and far between. My recommendation is to buy new and when the warranty expires it’s time to sell. If you want to keep it longer make sure you purchase the extended warranty at the time of purchase. I would also only consider Toyota if I needed a 1/2 ton truck.

    RATTLE ON START. Some New Engines use a Check Valve in the oil filter. Not sure if this Engine does! A Rattle on start is a symptom of a dry start and top end Damage will happen. Have seen cheap oil filters with check valve leak bye, draining oil back into sump which should be held above filter level. I only use OEM or a trusted brand filter because of this issue.

    I just had the same story with a dealer and warranty claim delays November 23’ - March 24’. My 2018 fusion sport v6 twin turbo had started running badly and found out it had trashed heads also. Took the dealer 3 months to fix it and I got it back for 2 weeks before it blew up bc they fixed it incorrectly. It now has a new motor in it that took 5 weeks to fix. I believe it was only quicker to fix the second time bc i refused to unload the car off my trailer until they provided me a loaner car. The loaner car was my leverage for them to prioritize fixing my car quicker. I know they used excuse of waiting on parts to work on other vehicles before fixing mine the first time.

    I'm an ASE tech in TX for a large company who buys dozens of these (and many other vehicles) every week and the sheer amount of Ford products (and also Chrysler) that come in at 90k miles with slipping or failed transmissions, rattling timing chains, BCM failures, bad heads, blown motor mounts, leaking oil etc absolutely blows my mind. Its mostly the domestic vehicles that are junkers, we get a good amount of Toyotas in at 150k with little to no issues at all. And these aren't heavily abused either, just driven like you would a car but they're not holding up

      I have learned out of experience. Best half ton pick up by far is a Tundra! My 13 has been very reliable at 110k miles! No issues domestics make good preformance cars. Chargers challengers camaros. And mustangs! When it comes to trucks? Pure garbage

      Ford is not the same company of yesteryear they’ve become a company of screwing customers for pure profit,now things are turning on them big time and thank God people are waking up to it and many other things.I had a beautiful 2019 King Ranch crew cab F-150 and had the same issues and all before 30,000 miles I actually drove loaner trucks more than I did mine,stuck exhaust valve before first oil change,cam phasers replacement before 2nd oil change and the whole time transmission was rough shifting and then again cam phasers replacement before the 3rd oil change finally Fraud Motor Company decided to put in a Re-manufactured motor and offered me 10k and another 100k warranty or try the New Re-manufactured motor and if I wasn’t satisfied with it they will buy it back so finally I though I was gonna start loving my truck so I drove for about 2 weeks and low and behold the famous rattle at start up was starting on my re-manufactured motor.we called Fraud back and started the buy back procedure and received All of our money back and they lost not just my business forever but my friends and families business,so needless to say Fraud motor company deserves to suffer a little until they can absolutely prove that they can make a product that can last and at a better value.P.S. This year 2023 I went and bought a Nice Ram Crew Cab Laramie with the Hemi and am I am absolutely loving it.Dont waste time with Ford unless you like stress and a life of aggravation.All this said with sadness because I’ve been a Ford customer and fan for over 40 years.

      Tundra is a domestic truck. Designed and made in USA. 110k miles is hardly any at all. Tundras have issues like any other vehicle, but are very expensive to fix. @@fredwilliams7893

    I was driving with a friend who had recently purchased a factory-new heavy-duty F-250, and as we were driving on the freeway he was explaining that he'd purchased this truck so he'd have bulletproof transportation - and as he was speaking, the transmission failed and he had to pull over and get towed in for repairs. You should have seen his face when it broke down AT THE MOMENT HE WAS BRAGGING about how reliable his factory-new heavy-duty F-250 was supposed to be.

      I was a die hard Ford person I like ford's all the way till 1996 when they went with super duty on their pick ups that term has been around since the 50s it was cute when it first came out and the thing with it now it has gotten ridiculous it says super duty on the new ford's probably about 15 times like it wants You not to forget that it's a super duty the Ford fan boys are Really ridiculous with their little diesels and I won't own one also because Ford turned woke I will keep my 2007 Dodge Ram mega cab which is my dream truck and I had wonderful experience with the Dodge dealer When I bought it used I got a steal of a deal I had a Ford Ranger and I had nothing but problems with that piece of junk and my mom had a Mustang 1984 model that was a lemon since the day it was driven off the lot that car almost got us killed several times The ranger also was a 1984 model biggest piece of junk and the dealer was terrible with fixing both of them

    These companies don’t care about you or even its own employees
    The fusion from 2018-2022 has a control arm issue that goes bad every 50k miles. (Should be recalled but ford hasn’t gotten more than half of the fusions on the road to make a report)
    It’s a design flaw and cheap parts with cheap labor outsourced from Mexico.
    Chapman ford in Scottsdale AZ had 3 of these fusions in the shop the same day I brought my girls fusion in. All for the same control arm reason. They all had to pay $2500+ for 1 arm
    She had a warranty but they wouldn’t honor it completely. We’d have to pay 1500+ in labor
    I bought the part for 270 and worked on it myself. Took it to ford and told them to do the alignment. They damaged the rubber boot on both sides saying that both sides now need to be replaced! (They were stupid enough to send live pictures of a metal flathead poking into the rubber boot) they fought with us and finally agreed to fix their mishaps and install a new control arm on the passenger side for free.
    Never have nor will ever be buying a new ford or any new car. Overpriced cars with no soul. And from my experience working on them, less reliable

    The Toyota Tundra is built in Texas, I got a chance to drive one for a week as a rental and it drove great.
    I spent a year renting vehicles every week for work and the Tundra was the best drive of all the full size trucks and I got to drive them all.

    I’m 52 and I’ve driven an f150 since I was 16. 4 different ones. My 05 having been the one I just replaced in 2020 after 280,000 miles of just changing fluids, tires, and batteries. (Replaced “distributor cap” once. I replaced it in 2020 with my dad’s 2019 f150 king ranch that saw nothing but pavement and 1 driver. A retired Oilfield man of 45 years. Guess what? I just had to trade it in for a Toyota product for every single thing you just said. Broke my heart as I had expected to possibly ride off into the sunset in that king ranch. Nope. Thank you jackasses at the dealerships. Thank you loser employees left at ford corporate. I’m secretly hoping the 24 or 25 f150 is better, but I don’t know… it’s getting pretty easy to just jump in my Toyota and go (like I used to in my 2005 f150 4.3 4 speed xlt)😢

      Thank congress: cafe 2.0 is now running [and ruining] engine & vehicle design. Manufacturers are almost unable to use their engineering staff without getting derailed by federal dictats. The whole damn thing needs repeal. We have cars with 0w-16 oil in them trying to reach for a paper chase estimate of +2mpg [that nobody ever gets]: if rings and bore are not dead nuts perfect, they become oil burning beasts and what the hell is "green" about that?

    Bought a new Tacoma in 2015. Aside from regular oil changes and routine maintenance (and little of that is required) I’ve had absolutely NO issues. Ultra reliable, I could take it across the country today with utmost confidence.

    This is why I sold my F150 about 12 years ago and bought a Toyota Tundra.
    I would definitely recommend buying a 2010-2021 Toyota Tundra, I know of many people who have
    Tundra’s and all are happy with them. I can’t comment on the newest body style Tundra, but I can definitely recommend
    The 2010-2021 ones!!!

    @Stoney Ridge Farmer I work for what you would call a sub-contractor one of those who actually "make the parts" (not for cars) I was shocked to learn not only some parts were not made by brand X but neither designed nor branded if even handled once by them, that's a general rule for everything today, now some manufacturers have sub-contractors in their "group" which assures synergy between each other and a maintained chain of production as they have the same boss but some rely heavily on outside sources and that's when problems happen Ford seems to have gone the wrong way and externalize too much, that you even tought "FORD" is making his parts shows how disconnected customers are from reality behind the scenes

    Sadly, I can completely relate to this experience with regards to the engine cam phasers. My 2013 had them fail at 65K miles, then the repair work done lasted a year before having to be done again due to a poor installation of the new parts. This repair lasted a week before the second fix failed and the same codes appeared. Fortunately, in my case, the dealership worked with me, and we found a newer vehicle I was willing to trade up to, with a warranty to cover any issues, which so far, I haven't had to use.

    Based on my experience down here in New Zealand, the corporate cost-cutting really started to show in Ford products way back in the early 2000s. On the 2002 BA Falcon, a car once regarded as the definition of rugged Australian engineering, the four-pinion diff used for decades and capable of well over a million km, was swapped out for a two-pinion design. That was the canary in the coal mine, because quality fell off a cliff from that point onwards. The "Powershi*t" six and ten speed automatics fitted to most Fords from 2010 onwards are reliable only in the sense that they fail reliably at 100,000km. Basic cars like the Mondeo are routinely scrapped at low mileage due to these dodgy transmissions, while owners of the bestselling PX (2012-2021) Rangers have to fork out $15k+ on transmission repairs, whether automatic or manual. Across all models the explosion of electrical complexity comes with exponentially higher costs for obscure (but essential) replacement parts. Bits of plastic and interior trim that are still good on 90s Fords start failing at five years old on more recent models, betraying the planned obsolescence inherent in their design.
    It is very sad how the big US carmakers have squeezed their customers for every cent they can and rewarded loyalty with total arrogance and contempt. Henry Ford is rolling in his grave.

      I can agree that ford went downhill but not in the ba era it was when they went to rangers and it's got worse from then on and when I heard they were merging with vw I thought that's going to be one major shitbox and it seems I was correct cause there is so many branndew cars with major failures in less then 50k.
      I've had fords upto 800k on the clock and my ba has 380k on original motor never been opened and rarely serviced and it still keeps going.

And me getting to 330k in a VW seemed great until the emissions from my car started trying to kill people. Running and running well are two very distinct things. People get so proud of higher mileage. The Japanese know the way. They have laws that say to get higher miles cars OFF THE ROAD ...PERIOD.

      Think about it for a sec... who is a car manufacturer's customers? It's really easy to assume that it's the car-buying public but it's not. The manufacturer's customers are the dealerships. And when they purchase new vehicles to turn to sell to the public, do you think they would want something that makes them 15-20% profit once every 10-15 years with maybe $300-400 per year in ongoing maintenance? Or do you think they would want something that could draw in $1500-2500 per year in repairs and have to be replaced in 6-8 years? The fact that the dealerships then get to point fingers at the manufacturers for shoddy design and build quality rather than as a complicit partner in pushing the industry into a dumpster and setting it on fire, just isn't right. There needs to be systemic reform.

    Yesterday I put rear brakes on my 2011 F150. It was the first set of rear brakes in 217000 miles. I've had it since it was new and it's the best vehicle I've ever owned. I've also replaced the water pump (last year) and the plugs. It just goes and goes.

    A few years ago, I purchased a used 2018 Ford Raptor with 55k miles and have had nothing but issues for the past three years of owning this truck. The previous owner kept the truck well-maintained and his service appointments show on my Ford phone app. First thing to go wrong was the rear end started humming so they rebuilt the gears in the rear end. Next was the cam phaser recall, which they replaced the cam phasers. Not long after that, the sunroof track broke and my sunroof was stuck open so they replaced that. The transmission was shifting very hard and also slipping at times. I brought the truck to the dealership three separate times before they decided to replace the transmission which luckily it was covered under my extended warranty. The cam phasers started rattling again, so they replaced two cam phasers and charged me to replace the other two. Next thing on the list was my axle seals were spitting grease all over the inside of my rim. When I crawled under the truck to see what was going on, I also noticed the rear end was leaking as well. The dealership had my truck for two weeks so they could diagnose and replace all these seals. Recently, I went in my truck and the sunroof glass is cracked. I also hear the cam phaser rattling again. Last week The truck threw a code for bank 2 misfire. I pulled the spark plug and noticed a little oil on the plug so now my valve cover seals are probably leaking. At this point, I do not even want to bring my truck to the dealership. Last year, my extended warranty expired so I renewed the warranty. Now I pay $135 a month for the next three years because I’m worried something else will break.

    I get it! I was buying my third used vehicle (20 Escape) from my same dealership (all three because of wrecks where other people ran into my vehicles).. I had taken a pic of the odometer. I had told the salesman to have a tire checked out because it looked low to me. When I went to pick it up, the tire still looked low so I made them go check it .. there was a nail in it and they were going to plug it .. I told them I didnt want a plugged tire after i had already gone around with this slimy salesman and had asked for it to be checked (was that too much??). I had to sit and wait after a long day and the things I had asked to be taken care of not! Not only that but when I went to pull away, the odometer read over 150 miles more than the pic .. when I called, the store manager kept giving me reasons for it being different than the paperwork had read (like Im a stupid female) .. I said something about the slimy salesman or someone else having used my vehicle and that I had a frickin pic of the odometer and knew what the hell I was talking about .. I was furious! I made them put another new tire on the rear of my vehicle so they would wear the same .. they never came through with the warranty they were supposed to have on those. If I hadnt been rear-ended and in dire straights, i would have cancelled and went elsewhere for a vehicle. Really great customer care for a returning customer!!
    Then .. there was a recall on this vehicle that said it should be checked as soon as possible because fuel could accumulate and there be a possibility of fire .. so every time I called to see when they would be able to get to it, they kept telling me they could only get so many parts and I ended-up waiting for several months before it could finally be taken care of. This vehicle has already had THREE recalls! And the 2018 I had before that had three as well by the time it was totalled in 2021.
    No, No more fords for me either!!

      I had one same year cam phaser started to go bad about the same miles as what you had. Then the transmission went out…… was told it would take 7 months to fix because of lack of parts so I was forced to trade it in and get hosed! Good luck ! Sell it now

    In 2018 I bought a new 2018 titan sv. I did not buy any of the big three because 0of problems I heard back then. I am very glad I went with the Nissan Titan, I have had 0 issues with it. I took it a week ago to a private garage I have always gone to to get a good look over it. We went over everything on it at 114,000 miles now every part was checked. We took out a plug to see if they needed changing since they were the original and they looked like new, no wear no carbon on them. The guy who owns the shop told me he has never seen a big three looking like my Titan and he was impressed bye the fact the plugs looked like new at 114K. I am very glad I went with this truck and plan on keeping it for a very long time.

    Ford fan here! Sorry to hear about your troubles. I can feel your frustration. But I gotta tell ya, minimal research would have shown that those Eco Boost engines have been garbage since day one. With all the information available, it blows my mind that people still buy them.

      Adding to that, if you’ll notice, Ford has added the V8 as a staple back into the work truck segment of the market. They know the 3.5 isn’t holding up and they can’t afford to lose fleet truck customers. They’ve also handed GM a win with not one, but two V8 options in their full size SUV’s. The Expedition only has the 3.5, and their market share is dropping dramatically. Informed buyers will help Ford (and all manufacturers) change course.

    A buddy of mine just waited three weeks to have his "blank screen/no gauges" repaired at the local Ford dealer. He just purchased a brand new Super Duty ($85+K) and drove it for one day when the screen went blank. Took numerous calls and more to get them to even start the process. Brand NEW truck mind you!! And to top it off - He traded his previous F150 in because of problems with the Ecoboost 3.5v6. Only 59k miles on it.... Yup.... FORD.

      Digital dashes are the biggest scam going. Heres an 80 dollar chinese android tablet in your dash, surely itll still work well in a decade😂

      @@phillmccracken4219 Was not my vehicle, and perhaps that was a factor? Nevertheless, Ford did some questionable engineering with coolant and water pump routing.

    I lived near a Ford dealership and would wonder through their lot on weekends just looking at it's inventory. Two observations that got my attention were sun roofs not fitting properly and dust with poor paint coverage on the bottom of vehicle doors. Basically their careless manufacture process. I bought Fords for many years with no problems but I had growing concerns and switched to Toyota about 25 years ago. The issues Ford is currently having and my experience with owning Toyota vehicles has been a wise decision and money in the bank.

      I grew up in a GM family and been a Toyota fan since 1985 when I bought first 4WD half ton PU. This was before the Tundra and Tacoma, and I would still be driving it except my daughter came along and there was no room for a baby car seat, and I purchased a 1986 4 Runner. I haven't looked back and drove several vehicles over 250k each. This is horrible customer service by Ford.

      my dad had an 84 that rusted away, but then he bought 90 and damn that was a nice truck. and it would go through anything. i miss that truck.@@mstrdiver

    Makes me appreciate my 96 f350 power stroke even more had it for 9 years use it as my daily in those 9 years I’ve had to replace two injectors and the starter that’s it and regular maintenance she runs good and strong really sucks how new trucks have all these problems

    I had transmission issues with my 2018 Ford Focus. The automatic transmission was complete and utter crap. I was lucky enough to be able to Lemon Law the car and got my money back. After that day I vowed to never buy a Ford ever again.

    As a mechanic in a small shop for the last 4 years, I wouldn’t purchase a raptor if it was offered to me for a thousand dollars. One of many we have seen needed a new engine after blowing up at 100k and a new rear end at 30k. Ford has a huge issue with their engines going very premature.

      What engine? Coyote's are reliable. Early ecoboosts had issues with DI valve carbon build-up, but that is about it. And that is a problem with all early DI engines. Ford 9" rear ends are notoriously strong, used by drag racers for ages. I think you are bs'ing out your rear.
      Ecoboosts are strong engines, Ford 9" are almost a drag racing standard, and Coyotees are reliable. Why make stuff up?

      What specifically failed on that rear end, mr. "mechanic"? And why on earth would anyone bring a Raptor with ~100k to a "small" shop? Seems pretty sus there mr. small shop mechanic.

      ​@@MrZarono2 notes: 9" axles were discontinued many years ago. The "new" 9 inch axle is not the old 9 inch axle. As for EcoBoost? They are well known in private mechanic businesses as EcoBoom engines. Just ask the small repair shop. Stealerships are not telling you what they are troubled with.
