  • Did your 2017+ Superduty not come with up fitter switches? No problem. Neither did mine. Watch as we install a new overhead console with up fitter switches plus all the associated harnesses and relay box. Additionally, we also show you how to add 1200RPM elevated idle (high idle) to one of the 6 switches.

    Awesome video guys. I ordered the exact parts you listed as my F350 was a Lariat equipped as yours. I have the camel interior Blujean exterior, and dash trim is primarily black, so I love the black upfitter console. The 3 items ordered are everything needed for the modification except the small 10mm nut on the main fuse box. Followed your video and again excellent instructions. Do NOT let the task overwhelm you guys, with patience, a few revisits to this awesome video and modest skills YOU can do this modification. Bought my F350 DRW fully loaded with options and the dealer forgot the upfitter switches a 115-dollar option cost me $ 964.00 in parts and a Sunday to install. A new truck is off the chart expensive and hard to get with dealers getting Full LIST, even with a great trade in offer that's BIG bucks . So So So glad you posted this video so well informed as I now have my truck just as I wanted it FULLY Loaded .

    Thanks for the video. I just installed my switches today. I ran into a couple problems and I’m wondering if you saw the same. The blue box at the end of the console (furthest away from rear view mirror) handles the inputs from the motion sensors in the vehicle. I had to swap my box from my old console to the new in order for the motion sensors to work. I imagine the new one needed to be programmed but swapping seemed the easiest route. Beware if you go this path yourself, the plastic molded clips that hold the sensors in place are very easy to break. I broke one and was able to use the panel from the other console to fix it. In addition to this, there was no microphone installed in my new console. (Maybe I didn’t get the right console.) I lucked out here too as I was able to remove the microphone from the old console along with the harness and install it into the new console. After that, everything worked perfectly.

    • @55quadboy
      @55quadboy  Před 4 lety

      Thanks for mentioning that, you can use the module in the new overhead console, and it can be programmed to work via FORScan. We got mine to work using this method. Either one works as you've found out in case anyone else is running into the same issue with their upfitter conversion.

      @@cameronjohnston5158 that I'm not too sure of, Kevin is the electrical guru that did all of the wiring for that mod. I just held the camera. According to him: the 20kilo-ohm resistance value which we are dropping 5 volts across this value doesn't exceed the 1/4 watt dissipation. You can use a higher wattage resistor, that's not a problem but it's overkill.
      The power dissipation is 1.25 milliwats, so we're well within the resistors dissipation rating.

Got a late year deal on it, another item missing is the garage door opener. Why would they build a truck without this? I can understand the missing switches.

      Thanks! It's plug-and-play in the sense that all the connectors and harnesses are already made, purchasable and require no fabrication on the end users part to install assuming you're talking about the upfitter switches (yes it is quite time consuming from start to finish, but if you're patient it's not difficult). The elevated idle does require a bit of soldering and wiring, as with any accessory you plan to wire up.

      Obviously if you can, get the switches when you order your truck. If you're like me though, and got a really good deal on a left over truck that sat on the lot, then this is your option. Doesn't hurt that I got to learn something doing this upgrade as well.
