HOW TO: 2017-2019 Super Duty Gets a 2022 Front End!

- In this video I document the process of swapping the front end on my 2018 platinum F350. This video should apply to any of 2017-2019 Super Duty F250 F350 wanting to convert to a 2020+. Enjoy the video!
Parts list is below:
LED Headlight: LC3Z-13008-K
LED Headlight: LC3Z-13008-J
Header Panel: LC3Z-8B455-B
Grille (Platinum): LC3Z-8200-EA
Headlight Ballasts: JX7Z-13C788-L
I just got done doing this today, I had a 2019 halogen and swapped out for the black lariat grill and 2020 Morimoto led headlights. So everything was plug and play, had to trim exactly like he did in the video. Was pretty easy just have to keep track of the bolts and where everything goes. Took me about 2 1/2 hours to complete. Used a Oscillating Multi-Tool to trim the header panel and used a hacksaw with short blade to cut the aluminum header support.
So the 2019 halogen headlight connectors are the same as the 2020+ halogen’s and the morimotos are plug and play? The exact info I was looking for before doing this!

was having C bar issues as well.. I figured out that my problem was I had connected 3 & 5 wires on the wiring coming off of the truck , and not together at the plug that goes into the headlight , once I did that everything works as it should ! I know this has been a nagging problem for a few people , but in the end it was my fault . lol good luck guys

I personally prefer the aggressiveness of the 17-19 front end but 2020 plus looks good too I find everyone upgraded to the 2020s and the 17-19s in good shape are almost rare to see around now IMO
Couldn't agree more. I guess everyone wanted that gigantic radio that comes in the 22. The newer fronts got smaller and don't look as bold. 17-19 bodystyle still my favorite. I am, however, a sucker for the 2020 grilles, specifically the limited and dually grilles.
I did the process on the wiring but my drl did not turn, any other recommendations? I have a 2019 king ranch led, swap to 2021 led headlights
If you add the new bumper, you can than add the hidden winch into the factory bumper...

Thanks Chris! My truck is a 2022 Platinum. I also want to black out the grill and add the blackout LED lights. Hope you can help w/a few questions. Since I’m replacing LED’s, will there be any need for the Balasts? Any issues with adhesion when painting the satin brush finish in the grill? Did you have the paint work done at auto body shop? With that said how did you blacken the Platinum logo across the back of the tailgate? When it comes to my door handles/mirror caps that are chrome finish, I was told by auto body shop you should not paint over the chrome finish. Thanks.
If your truck came with LEDs from the factory like it sounds like, it will be plug and play. Any chrome or satin finish parts need to be scuffed and hit with adhesion promoter before paint. My auto body guy does most of that stuff and I haven't had any issues.

Hey Chris, question so the 2019 front ford emblem fits the 2020 grill? No replacement needed there?
Can i still use my original header panel? Or do you know what needs to be trimmed if i do? I have a trans cooler bolted to my header panel and i was told it won’t work if i get the 2022 header panel.
Mines the 2023 F250 Lariat and I want to swap the entire front clip ie…hood front fenders headlights grille to 2022. I can’t stand my grill with the things going around the headlights.

If i stay with halogen, do i need the harnes still. Ive found one guy that said they are plug and play if you swap factory to factory halogen

You'll need to do that wiring. It's easy if you check out the diagram I have

How are you feeling about the 20+ headlights at night? And without the use of the brights? I keep reading how the new lights are far superior to oem led on the 17-19 but not liking the no high beam idea. Great video.
I'd say they are on par with with 17-19 LEDs maybe slightly better. I never used my highbeams anyways
@@ChrisSullivan69 hey Chris, are your dlr’s on the entire time, or can you turn them off? I’m doing a conversion from halogen to led and from what I’m understanding, I think my drl’s will be on the entire time the engine is on. My harness came with the drl harness that runs to the fuse box and am wondering which route to go or what.

Hey Chris whenever you press the unlock button on your key fob do your headlights come on or is it just your park lights? I just finished this entire process so I just want to make sure I did everything the right way

have you had any problems with the outer halogens goin off after using your blinkers if i use the right side blinker the right side will go off but if i use the left side the left side will go off not sure whats causing it jw if you have any info on that? thank you

was having C bar issues as well.. I figured out that my problem was I had connected 3 & 5 wires on the wiring coming off of the truck , and not together at the plug that goes into the headlight , once I did that everything works as it should ! I know this has been a nagging problem for a few people , but in the end it was my fault . lol good luck guys
Just did a 2020 conversion on my 19 platinum. I ended up buying A harness for the headlight but noticed my C lights no longer turn on when I unlock or open the door like my 19 did. Do yours turn on with the wire mod that you did ? I wouldn’t of bought the harness if I’d see this video before. 🤦🏻♂️
Other than high beams, my new headlights work just like factory. Including c bar and parking lights coming on when a door is opened or truck is unlocked

Grinding wheel . Otherwise good will sit like an inch behind the grill. Which really isn't an issue tbh
I have a platinum 17 f350. Cut wires and spliced exactly how you said. And no Cbar lights was your truck a platinum ? Or were you trying to make it one ? I bought all 2020 new parts and ballast

Both sides. The whole front end is pretty symmetric

I have a 22 Lariat on the way. Want to swap out the the grill for the Platinum one as you did. Have a plan for some grill lights that will look better in the Platinum one. Any idea if the grills are a simple swap between trim levels and dont require the new header panel being its a 22?
I've had three different trim level grills on my '22 F350, currently have the Limited on it and they all matched up. Easy swap

I did the wiring on my 19 f250 trying to make the 22 headlights work and they didn't. the c bar won't turn on bot the high beams work. I really need help

I just did the swap on my 2019 and the DRL is not working on the new lights. Did you have to do any forescan or anything?

Not true. Mine plugged right in and worked as you see.

No I thought i did. But they just popped off their mounting tab on the grille. Reinstalled and it's good as new
Does the 2020 and up bumper fit 17-19 with no modifications?
I just installed a 2022 lariat on mine and I had to change over the harness because mine is a platinum with the assisted cruise control. I had to do minor modifications to get that done. Other than that it bolted on like the old one

You'll need a conversion harness. Google it its been beaten to death

That’s what I was wondering. Wanting to use the morimoto headlights that only work with the oem halogen headlight 2020+. The connectors all look similar but I don’t know for sure
@@its_justa_6.2 turns out it does work! I converted my 2017-19 halogen over to 2020+ halogen lights and it worked great. The bulb sockets for the 2020+ turn signal lights are different than the 17-19 though, so keep that in mind. My new 20+ lights didn’t come with the turn signal bulbs or sockets, so I had to chase down a set of those before completing the swap.

@@kc9146 yes halogen to halogen the highs still work fine. But I’ve since went halogen to oem led 20-22 lights and now the high beams don’t work 😢. Oh well, I guess… 🙃

Strange. Mine work perfectly. I'd get out a test light or multimeter and start checking to make sure you have voltage where you're supposed to

Hi Chris , so I was wanting to have my XLT grill on my 2020 superduty get painted and my local body shop told me you can’t paint chrome, I saw you took yours all apart and used a Scotch bright pad. Now did you take that to someone and get it painted or did you use a rattle can? I am hoping I can do the same thing Chris but I need more info from you please
Yes you'll need to scuff and then use adhesion promoter before painting plastic parts. You can paint it yourself or have a pro do it for a nicer finish

Wire color might have changed for 2018. I'd check which wire has power when you turn the parking lights on

Why does it look like the bottom light of the headlight is on? Isn't that the high beams?
Thats the difference between the 17-19 headlights and the 20+. The 17-19 used bottom light for highbeams. The 20+ uses a computer to dim them for lowbeam. That's why the highbeams don't work

weird how a slow old boring car with a good tune up just broke 5 ford 8.8 axles doing nothing but Walmart runs here and their. Is the 2011 dodge 2500/3500 AAM axle the same as the F250 F350 axle? 100 pounds of actual welding over 2-3 weeks... if there was a TRAR marginally done right? ether way the machine can be used for some trucking now and farm work like plowing snow... ford thunderbird AAM1150, no 8.8 of 9 inch is good enough. like i took physics to calculate rev n' dump torque, clean 2 valve NA 4.6 needs an AAM 1-5/8 shaft axle. "28 spline 32 spline 8.8, there both 1 inch round bars engineered for a four cylinder".
local dealer has a few 2020 RAM 2500 POWER WAGON's that have a little rust on the axles, but that Granite Crystal Metallic paint is really nice. but they want 1100/month for it... unemployed for 10 years on the stamp making the other thing work off scraps. wages at a job spent right and its 8 hours of community service once a week to pay that tab... cant find anything, just getting rusty in the dealer lot.
